Rowing boats can be taken along the river to the 14th century refuge, the Hermitage, built by a hermit. The beautiful sandy beach and the Heritage Coastline are 1 mile away and Alnwick and its famous Castle and gardens, approx. 8 miles.

The Happer Family 11-18th June Raffy (aged 19 months) has thoroughly enjoyed the rope swing - much giggling whilst holding on for dear life - and lots of tadpoling. Elliots in Newcastleton make what Abdul has declared "the best sausage rolls he has ever eaten" and have stocked some fabulous meat. returning tomorrow happy and refrested, laden with a cool box full of sausage rolls and cheese and onion pasties.
