This attractive single storey cottage is situated in the delightful village of Norham. This ancient village in a conservation area runs along the River Tweed with the Norman ruins of Norham Castle, a border fortress boasting one of the finest keeps in the country. The village itself has a number of traditional small shops, including a butcher, baker, post office and pubs which serve food, all a short walk from the cottage. There is excellent fishing on the Tweed (licenses bought locally), and a particular feature of the area are the Berwick-upon-Tweed swans, hundreds of which come to feed on the neighbouring fields during the winter months. Pretty walks start on the doorstep through the village along the banks of the River Tweed. Berwick-upon-Tweed is 8 miles way and the border towns are a short drive away. Edinburgh can be reached by car or by train (40 mins.).This area is an ornithologists delight with over 250 species of birds spotted and an abundance of wild life including otters and even seals along the river.
