“The cottage was lovely.”
Tastefully decorated and well equipped. Well enclosed back garden.
It was lovely to have welcoming gifts including cake, wine, milk and bread on arrival as the first thing I always want after driving a long way is a cuppa!
We met the owner on arrival as he was working next door and as the weather had turned a bit cold he turned the heating up for us, on an App I think. Good job because I'm a bit rubbish at other's heating controls and couldn't work it out in the boiler cupboard. We just turned the radiators off manually at night.
The railway line wasn't a problem for any of us, having been brought up next to one, in fact it was quite interesting, especially on the Sunday when there was a steam train.
The only little issue I had was before we went I couldn't find mention of a washing machine and emailed Sykes to ask if there was one and the reply was as it wasn't listed or mentioned there wasn't one. When we got there, having taken extra clothing on this understanding I found there was. But maybe Sykes could have contacted the owner before they said there wasn't one?
No matter, we had a great time, we felt at home and would definitely book this cottage in the future. Oh must say, the beds and pillows were very comfortable.
Some cottages charge extra for dogs but I've found they don't make it clear how many they allow or the charge for a dog/dogs before you book. No extra charge here.
So I would recommend: clean, modern, warm and comfortable. Thank you.
