“The position of the property was perfect for accessing the beach and the local community.”

Luckily we had taken towels as there were none in the apartment, it was disappointing that there was not even the basics provided no tea coffee milk condiments or toiletries including washing up liquid, cloths etc The bed and the sofas are well overdue being replaced and very hard, we put cushions against the door to try keep draughts out but the apartment was cold. The back yard was basic but large enough for the dog to go out first and last thing but wouldnt be of any use in summer the ...

The back yard was basic but large enough for the dog to go out first and last thing but wouldnt be of any use in summer the outdoor bins were crusted with bird poo. This apartment could be fantastic but it needs some TLC. Checkin was 4pm and checkout 10am the cleaners stood staring in the window from 950am

“Whilst the property is in an outstanding position in alnmouth it does not live up to its full potential.”

It is looking tired and in need of refurbishment. The sofas are past their best and the throws need to be replaced especially the faux fur ones. The sink in the bathroom leaks the water quickly. The information pack is 6years out of date and needs updating including with instructions on how to work the central heating, although we contacted the owner and he was very helpful in getting it to work for us. There is a lack of basic essentials and a clothes aired would be helpful to dry towels etc as there is no facility in the yard which is also in need of a makeover. Having said all that we enjoyed our holiday as we come to alnmouth regularly but unfortunately will not be staying at Claremount. Margaret

“The property was good apart from one thing.”

The shower needs fixing or replacing There's hardly any water pressure If you switch it to high then it is either scalding hot or ice cold If you leave on medium setting then you can control the temperature but the water dribbles out

“This flat is absolutely stunning, perfect location, beautiful mix of traditional and modern interior, best mattress ive ever slept on, high power shower over the bath, very hot water if desired, best location 1 minute from the beach.”

I did have some feedback but dont want to appear negative so will only leave my main 2. First, is that for the price we pay, we should get at least 1 roll of tissue. This is really really basic need of every person, and i think should be left for guests as standard. The 2nd is that the welcome folder isnt overly welcoming, is simply informational, and also leads you to believe there are vouchers available from shops for certain desirable activities. The shops will tell you they dont do them anymore because the folder hasnt been updated in SIX years, so information isnt correct anyway. Alnmouth is the place to go, and this flat was stunning, but i am already looking around for my return

“Claremount is obviously in an envious location and it is this which basically makes your holiday.”

The property does not appear welcoming on first entering it and this impression carries on throughout the ground floor apartment. It is in need of an upgrade internally and externally to compete with other nearby properties and is generally in a tired state.

“It was comfortable to stay in.”

Entrance needs a good clean, outside suffered because of building work, with builders working outside in the back so privacy compromised. Very surprised that there wasn't even one toilet roll left us, but kitchen roll was. Shower just adequate and water not very hot, pressure low. We did have a lovely week's holiday though.

“We found the accommodation fine- the bed was comfortable and wardrobe spare was good.”

The central heating unfortunately was faulty at first and when we advised the owner he quickly arranged for a contractor to fix it and to his credit he straight away offered us a part refund as compensation for the inconvenience. The common parts and the lounge looked tired and quickly needs attention although we were aware that there were ongoing issues with subsidence at the property. We were overall happy with the accommodation and would happily return. The location was superb.We also had fabulous weather warm and no wind!

“The property is in a great location but is now showing signs of needing an update.”

The 2 sofa’s in the lounge have definitely seen better days and the electric shower is borderline adequate. Those small points aside the property was warm , clean and the bed was very comfortable.

“Quirky flat.”

The property next door is in the process of modernisation and significant damage has been caused to the foundations at Claremount. There are large cracks to the walls of the lounge and bedroom. During our stay the cracks widened and work will be needed sooner rather than later; hopefully good buildings insurance is in place!! The flat is in a lovely position by the headland on the bay. We enjoyed our stay.

Dear Mr Donnely, Thank you for the feedback, it is much appreciated and we're sorry about the unsightly cracks. Our neighbours have agreed to carry out repairs to the cracks but the work on this cannot proceed until the movement in the wall has completely stopped. Provisionally a date of June 2023 has been set for the the repairs to the wall. Their architect and a structural engineer examined the wall today (21/2/2023) and have declared that the property is safe for rental. Some minor repairs to the damage will be carried out over the next few days but unfortunately the large cracks in the living room and bedroom walls cannot be remedied until the movement in the wall has completely stopped.
