“Had a great stay at Cosy Nook and would probably stay again.”

Just a few things that could improve things would be a thorough clean/dust as evidence of long term cobwebs throughout the house and artificial flowers in the bedroom absolutely covered in dust! Rugs in the hallway were annoying as they ruckled up all the time, trip hazard! We also found a number of mouse droppings particularly on the stairs to the first floor, I realise any house can have mice but for these to be still on the carpet on arrival is not a good first ...

We also found a number of mouse droppings particularly on the stairs to the first floor, I realise any house can have mice but for these to be still on the carpet on arrival is not a good first impression! Fridge not switched on for our arrival only noticed the following day, when a bag of ice cubes left by previous tenants melted in the ice box and left a big pool of water on the floor! Garden overgrown a little and would have sat outside on the garden chairs had they not been dirty and covered with green algae, I wouldn’t expect to have to clean these ourselves. The addition of a hairdryer would of been useful. All that said the house was lovely and had a particularly nice kitchen and nice period features, not the creepy teddies in the bedroom’s and so many artificial flowers. Whilst we knew the property didn’t have WIFI When we booked, it was very inconvenient as nowadays everything is booked online! Ps as we had a lovely warm week we did water the Pansies in the garden!

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful townhouse, ideally situated a few minutes' walk from the quaint centre of interesting local shops and restaurants while a short drive to many beautiful locations including beaches, coastal walks and old castles & houses.”

The house was well equipped and very comfortable - we particularly enjoyed relaxing with a good book in front of the open fire in the lounge of a September evening.

“House is a fine Victorian building just off the centre of Alnwick in a quiet and pretty residential area.”

The decor, without being at all critical, is old fashioned. There is a courtyard garden to the rear. The house is well stocked and the rooms are a very good size, although the kitchen is a little small for 7 people while the attic double bedroom is gloomy, cramped and feels a bit like sleeping in a shed. In terms of improvements, the house needs a lock on the bathroom door and curtains in the downstairs loo. Comparatively speaking, was very good value. Alnwick is a great base.

“Cosy Nook is a lovely property.”

It is old, and has a lot of period features as well as some quirks, so don't visit expecting a new build layout - look at the photos and read the listing! We had 6 people staying there, ranging in age from 1 to 44 and it was great. Very convenient for Alnwick, everything in the town is within walking distance. The owner was helpful and considerate, and prompt in communications. The house was clean and comfortable. Practice your hill starts, the street is very steep!

The back and front doors could be awkward to open and lock so tips on what to do would have been handy. Everything else was lovely, clean and comfortable.

Photos on site don’t do it justice as is really a four bedroomed house with everything you have in a home except broadband which wasn’t an issue for us There are two separate toilets with sinks in addition to the bathroom Powerful shower Kitchen well appointed Would benefit from a home guide with everything from how to use cooker shower etc nearest supermarkets and restaurants etc Good selection of CD and DVDs Would provide umbrella for garden furniture and container for glass bottles

“Our family of 6 had a lovely holiday in Cosy Nook.”

We thought it was a lovely house - a Victorian terrace with lots of character. We liked the historic features and traditional furniture. All four bedrooms are spacious and excellent. The ground floor has a comfortable sitting room, and a kitchen which was very well stocked. It had everything we needed. The kitchen does the job of a utility room and dining room as well, though, so it felt rather cramped for six. Eg. when everyone is sitting down it is hard to get to the fridge. There is a toilet and washbasin on every floor, but only one shower/bath. Wi fi would have been very useful, though we managed with hotspots on our phones. We found the location of Cosy Nook great for visiting the Castle and the shops in Alnwick. We always managed to park near the house. Sue the owner was easy to contact by text and very friendly. Overall - a great place for a family to stay in Alnwick.

“A beautiful Georgian house within walking distance of Alnwick centre, and Sue the owner was lovely over the phone and very helpful with where to visit.”

Comfortable and spacious but unfortunately not very clean. I had to bleach all of the surfaces before use as they were sticky. I do not like spiders and there were webs everywhere; down the sides of furniture in the lounge, back of draws in the bedrooms, ceilings, everywhere. This made me uncomfortable from the start. We had to vacuum all of the webs in the bedroom before I could sleep in there! Such a shame as I loved the type of property, and Alnwick and the surrounding area was well worth the visit.

“The cottage was warm and comfortable but as we were all over 70 we found the stairs to the attic room steep and difficult to manage .”

The shower up there was difficult to get into requiring you to bend over to shower. This would have been OK for a younger couple who could have managed the limited space better. It was difficult to get into the oven as the table was too close to it . We found the house cosy and charming. The location was excellent for walking into the town and other attractions and parking was no problem outside house.The open fire was laid ready and all the coal etc readily available. The reason we are not giving it "exceeding expectations" was that the attic area was not suitable for us at all . We think the description in the ad should be more honest about this. We enjoyed the historical aspects of the house and area.

“Cosy Nook in Alnwick is lovely!”

There was seven (5 x adults + 2 x children) in the house but it was not crowded and plenty of space in the living room and kitchen. As we live in a small village, is was a big novelty to be able to walk to the shops and amenities in Alnwick. The parking was not a problem and we managed to park, at least of (of two) cars right outside the house, during our stay. We would recommend this property and Alnwick, in general.

“The accommodation was an early 19th century town house.”

It had great atmosphere and many original features. The lounge was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. There was on street parking in the rather narrow road outside and we never had any problem in parking outside the front door. There was a small sunny garden/yard at the back. The town was in easy walking distance and there were plenty of shops and a supermarket. There are lots of interesting and scenic places to visit within a short drive. The only improvement I would like to see would be the addition of a wi-fi service.

Alnwick Castle and Barter Books are a "must" while you are there. Food at Barter Books was good value and very tasty. Cosy Nook had everything you needed and more. We used the lovely open fire as it snowed while we were there! Cosy Nook had plenty of all you needed to make the holiday trouble free.

On the negative, car parking was difficult off peak, wall between attic bedrooms paper thin, cooking was difficult on a cooker that just fitted in a fire place attic bathroom was usable a toilet only if you reversed in...ideal for hobbits.

“We arrived having very high expectations, as we have stayed at other Skye Cotages in the past, and Cosy Noke Cottage met them all.”

We had a really pleasant stay in Alnwick although many of the attractions were closed due to the time of year. One improvement I would suggest for the cottage would be WiFi as this would have made it easier to search for attractions that were open. Having said this the cottage was lovely and Northumbria is beautiful.

“This house is a little old fashioned but it lives up to its name of being Cosy and we loved it.”

Very relaxing and family friendly. No wifi meant we switched off and talked, read and had a real break from the stress of everyday life. Great location, yes it's on street parking and the roads very narrow with lots of cars jostling for space and it's at the top of a hill but we didn't need the car and it was great to get out and walk. Alnwick has some great places to visit and is a lovely town. Highly recommend a visit to the gardens and to Barter Books in particular.

“The property is as described on your website, what it struggled with was the lounge does not have enough seats for the number of occupants in the property, so we brought a chair down from a bedroom.”

The low energy lighting in the living room is insufficient to be able to read by, so we brought lights down from the top floor double, Meaning there was only the main light in that room. We knew the property was smaller than others we had stayed in for 7, we accepted that. For 7 adults this place would benefit from just a couple of additions, including some larger saucepans etc. Overall property is in a good location, it was pretty much as described, its central location for Alnwick is good. It is a lovely area to visit.

The owners were there to meet us and they were very friendly and caring. They showed us around the house which is only a five minute walk from downtown Alnwick. The house was warm and cosy, we felt at home right away. We went to the pub down the street and had a great time. We would recommend this house to everyone, we will return to this house, we loved it.

Well-equipped and comfortable, the cottage is ideally located for exploring all that the region has to offer. Alnwick Castle and gardens (most recently famous for Harry Potter connections) are just 15 minutes' walk, while just 4 miles away lies the Heritage Coast with its miles of sandy beaches and dunes. An ideal location for a relaxing break.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
