Easy to explore from the cottage. The cottage itself is great, perfect for families. Very spacious and well equipped. Would definitely stay again.

“Lovely house - well kept and close to the harbour and shore.”

Two small quibbles - there are no mirrors in the upstairs bedrooms, and the ground floor bedroom lighting is very dim - could hardly see what we were doing. We had a problem when we arrived but it was quickly and efficiently solved by the letting team. Highly recommended.

“This lovely house exceeded our expectations.”

It is very well equipped, has big, comfortable beds and even has lovely, big towels which you don’t usually get with a property that is as reasonably priced as this. Other guests mentioned the steep stairs - these were NOT a problem even for our 91 year old Mum. Parking 2 cars was very easy. Thank you for providing us with the perfect base to holiday in wonderful Northumberland.

“Great location.”

Parking bit iffy depending on time of day. Residents have signs in window saying no parking but ignore them as they hold no legality. Really well appointed cottage with everything thought of. Beds extremely comfortable but I suppose that's a personal thing. However beware of the stairs. They are steep but that's not the main problem. The risers are very narrow. Bannisters are provided both sides. Still our 5 Yr old grandson managed to tumble down last 3 or 4 and cut his lip. Unfortunately you can't watch them 100% of the time. All in all a spotless well appointed house in a good location. Quayside chippy best of them all with really friendly young redhead girl serving. Last word to cleaners start and finish. Friendly and helpful as we arrived early and do a fantastic job.

“Spacious cottage .”

Steps were really narrow . Lounge not cosy at all , weather wasn’t nice enough to sit outside, a rug, firelight would have been nice . Patio very basic , chairs uncomfortable. A few plants would have been nice . Outside the front was let down by loads of weeds .

“I thought the house was great.”

It was clean, plenty big enough and the facilities were excellent. I really appreciated the welcome packs. I thought Amble made a good base for holidays in the area. I would certainly return if the opportunity arose.

“We had a lot of problems with the key safe from the word go ,we would enter the correct key code but had difficulty opening the key safe .”

It was taking up to 12 goes before we could get the key out ,At one point we was looked out of the property for 1 hour ,i need to use the toilet so had to go and find a pub in order to use the loo ,I did try and contact Northumberland cottages but they was closed plus the emergency number appeared to be in valid ,this was a huge in convince for us every time we need to use the key lock . I would also like to suggest fitting a light so that you can see the code .As one can easily imagine if you was to arrive at this accommodation during the winter months it would be very difficult to access the key safe due to know lighting ? I hope the owners take this comment on board and address the problem

“Lovely house, clean and warm.”

Towels spotless and fluffy. Half of the kitchen ceiling lights didn’t work or possibly a switch somewhere that we didn’t find. It would be an idea to say exactly where the bins are and also some up to date info on where to recycle glass. I tried on the internet but no clear info available there. Not the owners fault but more info from the council would be welcome. A lovely comfortable house.

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
