“A super property which provided everything needed for a self catering holiday.”

It was a pleasant surprise to find towels, kitchen roll, toilet rolls, cleaning pack and a tea/coffee and biscuits. The outside seating area is a sun trap and we enjoyed it even in October. With the beach a few minutes walk and the dog friendly Craster Arms up the road Summerseat is in the ideal spot for a relaxing holiday. We will hopefully return soon.

“I'm afraid most of it has been said before - this property requires deep cleaning & a lot of maintenance to get it spick & span for its holiday guests.”

Sykes are now aware of the pigeon poo problems on the rear courtyard railings, so hopefully this problem will be greatly reduced. This rental property could be great with tlc applied. Its in a lovely area. What is most excellent is that the fridge/freezer has been replaced with a brand new model.

“I contacted Sykes twice prior to our holiday dates in Summerseat.”

I was assured on the first occasion that the property would be fine. (My second query was not answered.) It most definitely was not. Despite previous occupiers raising issues, we found that nothing had changed. Outdoor areas, including the front of the property, would have benefited from a thorough clean. Walls were marked and needed repainting in areas. The shower base needed repaired. The downstairs toilet flush did not work properly. The fridge froze and ruined any food we kept in it, making it inedible. The oven and grill were dirty and despite trying to clean the grill pan in the dishwasher, it remained covered in dirt. Trying to cook in the oven resulted in the smoke alarm going off as the oven was so dirty, smoke emanated from it. The sink drain smelled badly. The master bedroom carpet was stained and the floor sagged at the entrance to the bathroom. The curtain lining was too small for the curtains, allowing unwanted light into the bedroom. Information on how to adjust the heating system would have been of great benefit. Not only will we not be back at Summerseat, we will not be using Sykes in the future.

We had a problem with the fridge freezing the food and reported this to the agent. We would think twice about going back to Summerseat but would definitely return to Beadnell.

“As with previous reviews found properly unloved and could do with a deep clean.”

Description of “Summerseat is an immaculate detached house has been furnished and equipped to very high standards with attractive co-ordinated furnishings” not accurate. Windows all need cleaning, as does balcony and patio railings which is caked in pigeon poo. Lots of weeds on patio,Facia soffit missing, previous guests rubbish in garage,fridge that freezes and ruins your food, noisy washing machine which when on spin bangs around breaking your relaxation. Dishwasher Facia which is cracked and almost cut hand on. Stair carpet gripper incorrectly fitted on which foot was cut. Basics missing like salt, pepper, vinegar, aluminium foil, miserly amount of cleaning products, dishwasher tablets thimble full of washing up liquid. Electric grill element sagging and touching food electric sockets to close to hob which gets excessive condensation , Would benefit from having a patio umbrella, outside washing line and more than one key to property which causes great inconvenience when leaving the the property secure with one person left inside sleeping. Fire extinguisher pressure in red zone so may not work. Televisions all to small and cables not long enough to move them close enough to make viewing easy. 2 toilet rolls provided for a 2 week stay and no bedding exchange offered at mid holiday point. Unusable WiFi speed which was reported to owner who had confirmation of fault by provider but couldn’t rectify during our stay with no offer of compensation especially when previous guests reported the same pin their review. On plus side plenty of hot water, warm property and good location.

“Location and house was great.”

Let down by housekeeping. Balcony had to be scrubbed before you could set foot in it, fridge had about 5in of frost on it, had to be defrosted before use. Also patio doors both downstairs and up could do with a clean. All said and done we had a lovely holiday and overall the house was great.

“Location great, functional cottage.”

Sadly the interior is unloved and requires a lot of maintenance to bring it up to modern standards for the price charged. A lick of paint everywhere wouldn’t go a miss. Same stains on walls from last year. Better up-to date garden furniture needed. Showers could be better although lack of gas to property only allows for electric showers. The fridge needed maintenance as it was freezing our food in the fridge section. Dish washer needs salt and rinse aid (not been done from last year) The WiFi was not existent and unusable. We managed but families would struggle in a digital age with their teenage children if they visited. It’s just such a shame as it’s a lovely ideal cottage but you can tell that it’s unloved abd whoever owns it doesn’t use it themselves as these little things would get sorted. We have stayed here the last two years because of the convenience and location but we are unlikely to return because for the price paid we can get a better property for the money. Just such a shame as it could be a cracking property.

Excellent location but in need of lots of TLC,hole under the carpet on stairs is very dangerous,damp patches in bedroom needs addressing,arrived to find both tables outside nit cleaned,balcony full of bird poo,plumbing a major issue,had to call maintenance to unblock toilet then it blocked twice more,several other things so won't be returning but will return to Beadnell as it's stunning

We enjoyed our stay at Summerseat , a very spacious and comfortable property ideally located near to the beach. The pool table was an added bonus for the evening entertainment.

We have had such a lovely time and the property we stayed in was amazing , we couldn’t fault it. We are very jealous we don’t own the property. It was so nice to be able to escape the problems of the world and socially distance in an amazing location.

The property is a few minute walk to the beach, shops and eating places. GROUND FLOOR Entrance hall. Living room with electric fire in fire surround, TV/DVD/video and laminate flooring. Kitchen/dining room large with electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/ freezer, TV, washing machine, tumble dryer and patio doors onto enclosed patio. This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
