“Lovely lodge, but needs shelves in bathroom and en-suite for toiletries, etc.”

. The patio door packed in on us, but we can’t blame anyone for that. Kitchen very well equipped. Easy access to idyllic bay and beach.

“The accommodation was warm and comfortable.”

There are a couple of things which would make a stay here even better. 1. The welcome pack was good, but there was no means of cooking: oil, salt, pepper - just the basics would be good, especially as you're a long way from a shop. The kitchen knives were beyond blunt: please either sharpen or replace! 2. A shelf in the en suite would be useful - there's nowhere to put products apart from the floor - not ideal. 3. We stripped the bed linen as requested, and some of the pillow protectors were grubby and stained yellow.

“We have stayed a few times in the area so knew where we had booked but obviously not been inside the property so were looking forward to being so close to the bay itself.”

Whilst the position of the property was excellent there is clearly a lack of maintenance both inside and outside the surrounding area of the lodge - which is a shame. Cleanliness was lacking somewhat with dirty pans in the cupboard, mould in the bathrooms and generally needing a decent deep clean. Pans needed replacing and cutlery all mismatched and really blunt knives in the block with no sharpener provided so whilst we enjoyed our stay we would not necessarily revisit the specific lodge - however with a little time and effort by the owners this could all be easily rectified.

We stayed in Godwit cottage last year and brought the family this year to experience a holiday in Budle Bay. They loved it!

“A warm and cosy log cabin on a quiet site.”

A short walk through the dunes to a beautiful white sandy beach. The cabin is well equipped and to a good standard. We had four lovely nights there and felt safe and relaxed.

The lodge is well equipped and was spotlessly clean. The view and proximity to the dunes and Budle Bay beach are what makes Grey Heron the best holiday accommodation we have stayed in. We will definitely be back.

Grey Heron Lodge is an eco log cabin set just metres away from the private beach belonging to Heather Cottages at Budle Bay nr Bamburgh.

The cabin is fitted out to a very high standard with all mod cons, its own garden and spectacular views of Lindisfarne Castle and Budle Bay.

The coastline here is extremely popular with walkers, birdwatchers, kite and wind surfers alike.

It is well placed for visits to Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Alnwick and Berwick. ACCOMMODATION OVER ONE LEVEL (Ground) Ramp to front door. Living/kitchen room open plan with log burner, TV/DVD, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, French doors to decked area. Utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge/freezer. Bedroom 1 with twin beds. Bedroom 2 with king size bed, en suite shower, WC, basin and underfloor heating. Bedroom 3 with double bed. Bathroom with bath, shower, WC, basin and underfloor heating. BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
