“Our 40th visit to the area but first time at Middlemoor cottage.”

The location is fabulous and property very nice albeit with a few negatives. The good, garden, location, peacefulness and most of the facilities, plenty of books, games and a big TV. The not so good, comfort of beds and living room furniture (though we appreciate this is a personal taste), only 3 logs in starter pack of wood and no firelighters. We would have liked to have a couple of trays, toilet brushes, a pen and a nicer welcome pack. The wi-fi is hit and miss. All in all whilst the good ...

All in all whilst the good outweighs the negatives I don't think it's for us but don't let that put you off.

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Note: Starter fuel for woodburning stove provided with additional fuel available to purchase locally. Friday arrival only and no short breaks accepted.
