The owners were fantastic in leaving a lovely welcome basket which we were very grateful for. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for the stay. We will certainly recommend it to family and friends. I would like to ask if the owners might be aware of mice in the roof in the upper bedrooms? There were a couple of nights that I heard mice running around in the eves (I slept in the double bedroom). Just wanted to make the owners aware in case they are not aware! Other than that, it was lovely and we hope to be back one day.

Sausages from Rothbury for Sunday lunch on return. Our first visits to Northumberland and we all agree we will be back! Once again, many thanks.

“This cottage was perfect for our family.”

The layout of the bedrooms allowed for our daughter and husband and their toddler to be on the same floor, while we had the ground floor room. The kitchen was superbly equipped and spacious. The living spaces were ideal too. The outdoor spaces were perfect for a toddler to run and play and great for al fresco eating in the glorious weather we were fortunate to enjoy.

“Lovely stay in the cottage, we had a great week in the area!”

Particular highlights were the conservation tour at Cragside, spotting lots of crabs whilst rock pooling at Low-Newton-By-The-Sea, and seeing a Kittiwake chick on our sunset cruise of the Farne Islands. Great food and service at the Tankerville Arms on our last night for a great end to the holiday!

Enjoyed visiting Dunstanburgh Castle, Bamburgh Castle & the Grace Darling Museum. Caught train to Edinburgh one day. Also enjoyed Cragside but thought Alnwick Castle & Gardens a bit expensive and not a lot on Holy Island. Very pleased with accommodation - so well equipped. Thank you.

“The perfect cottage that catered for 3 generations .”

Extremely well equipped cottage. a lovely welcome hamper and was great for our little 19 month old boy. Fabulous weather was a bonus which allowed little L to enjoy/explore the beautiful beaches of Bamburgh and Alnmouth which included a refreshing dip in the sea! Alnwick Gardens and Heatherslaw Light Railway visits were a great hit! We highly recommend the cottage and the area, thank you!

Very well equipped and thank you for the basket to welcome us. Tankerville Arms was fab as was Lewis's fish & chips in Seahouses. We explored Alnwick and Bamburgh Castle and the beaches. Lots more to come back to see.

The kitchen is well-equipped with all that you need and the Welcome basket is a lovely touch. The front garden catches the evening sun and provides a peaceful spot to sit outside and appreciate your surroundings. The village itself is quiet and has the bonus of an excellent pub. It's a fantastic base to explore Northumberland.

“Lovely cottage in an excellent location.”

The cottage is quite spacious and there is a good sized utility room where you can store boots etc and dry clothes. The upstairs landing also gives you lots of extra space, as well as a comfy place to read. We particularly appreciated how well equipped the cottage is - plenty of plates, mugs, cutlery etc so you don't have to wash up all the time. There is a very extensive library of books and maps covering the area, which really helped us to plan our activities for each day. All the little things had been thought of - hairdryers in every room, plenty of coat hangers and hanging space, good quality towels and provisions on our arrival. We were pleased that the bed linen and towels were all changed for us after one week - as we have found this not always to be the case even with more expensive properties. The owner was easily contactable and all in all Aryarch is an excellent property and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Aryarch is a stone built property set in the picturesque hamlet of Eglingham. This tranquil little place boasts country life and has an award winning public house only 100 yards away. There are miles of walks for you to get totally lost in and is the perfect bolt hole for that much needed break in the best County in the Country. The property has been finished with countryside and relaxation in mind. Eglingham is only 7 miles from the Historic town of Alnwick which has a huge amount of amenities including supermarkets, restaurants and the world famous Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Gardens. GROUND FLOOR Entrance porch with oak bench seat and wooden boot rack. Living room with multi fuel stove set in an inglenook fireplace, comfortable seating and wall mounted TV with Freeview, DVD & CD player with bluetooth. Kitchen with electric range master oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, Smart TV and an island with breakfast stools. Utility room with fridge, freezer and storage space for boots, coats etc. Dining room with seating for 6 people. This room was originally a conservatory and has patio doors leading to the garden. ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
