“This is a wonderful, homely cottage which we would highly recommend.”

It is in a central location in Alnwick yet tucked away in its own private courtyard with a sunny spot for breakfast and evening meal.The Aga was fun to use and made the cottage very snug. There was a fantastic supply of local maps and guides, as well as a huge library of videos/DVDs for all tastes.The beds were comfy, the hot water plentiful and the kitchen well stocked with everything you might need. A perfect place to stay.

It’s a lovely property in an excellent location. Very comfortable and homely, it really didn’t feel like a holiday let. Ideal location and great to have garden and parking . Very good instructions left and useful guides to the area. Would definitely recommend to friends and would visit again ourselves.

Even the access through a passage to Nurses Yard is like a trip through history. Extremely welcoming with an AGA warming the kitchen as you enter. Wonderfully convenient location in an historical part of Alnwick and in walking distance of the castle, garden and town restaurants and pubs.

Lavender Cottage, built around 1750, is a delightful stone cottage tucked away in a quiet secluded sunny courtyard off Bailiffgate in the historic conservation area of Alnwick. Just 100 yards from the Castle, which adjoins the Alnwick Gardens, and 400 yards from the cafes, shops, supermarket and other town amenities. There are country and river walks from the doorstep. Lavender Cottage is equipped to high standards and is also suitable out of season with its cosy Aga. GROUND FLOOR Kitchen/dining room with gas Aga cooker, two ring electric hob, microwave, fridge, washing machine and TV. Living room with wooden panels, gas coal effect stove, TV/DVD, CD/Radio, DVD collection, books and games. FIRST FLOOR Bedroom 1 with double bed. Bedroom 2 with twin beds. Bathroom with bath, over shower, WC and basin. OTHER FACILITIES Patio garden. Gas central heating. All power bed linen and towels included in rent. Parking on road and parking permit for 2 cars provided.

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
