2. Ford & Etal Christmas Market

Location: Ford Village, Etal, Heatherslaw & Ford Castle

Why Visit: One of the largest Christmas markets in Northumbria, not far from the Scottish Borders, this event spans multiple picturesque villages and includes over 70 stalls. Explore Ford Castle Christmas stalls (which is usually closed to the public) and enjoy local crafts, food,  entertainment and festive cheer. (£5 per adult admission fee)

3. Bamburgh Castle Christmas Kingdom

Location: Bamburgh Castle, Bamburgh
Dates: From 08 Nov-23  December 2025 (check website for specific dates)
Why Visit: Bamburgh Castle transforms into a Christmas Kingdom with a variety of immersive experiences, Treasured Tales event, festive wreath-making workshops, Father Christmas Experience, Mrs Claus festive workshop and carol singing. Bamburgh and the dramatic coastal views make it one of the most scenic festive destinations in the UK.

4. Aln Valley Railway Santa Specials

Location: Lionheart Station, Aln Valley Railway, Alnwick
Dates: 13th & 14th December 2025
Why Visit: A magical train ride for children and families, complete with hot drinks, crafts, and a visit from Santa and his elves. It’s Northumbria’s answer to the Polar Express!

5. Cragside Festive Trails

Location: Cragside Estate, Rothbury
Dates: 29 Nov 2025 – 4 Jan 2026

6. Alnwick Castle Christmas Fair

Location: Alnwick Castle, Alnwick
Dates: 20 November (preview evening) – 21 November 2025
