“Lovely house in the centre of Amble.”

I stayed alone with my dog but it’s actually a really good size house so a family would have more than enough space. The house was warm, clean and very comfortable. I stayed alone with my dog but it’s actually a really good size house so a family would have more than enough space. The house was warm, clean and very comfortable. The bed in the main bedroom was super king size and super comfy!! Kitchen well equipped, bathroom had a lovely shower over a very large bath. The outside space isn’t huge and only concrete but has nice chairs and catches the late afternoon sun. I managed to enjoy a couple of drinks out there after a day exploring. There is no set parking at the house although in the welcome book it mentions you could park out the back blocking the garden gates. I couldn’t as my vehicle was too big but if you had a small car it looked like others did this with no problem. I parked in the road alongside the house and never had any problem finding a space. The only thing to note is that the road out the front of the house isn’t massively wide either, you’ll fit a car down it with a bit of space either side - I was in a mid size SUV and it left me a foot of so either side. But it’s fine to pull up and quickly offload/reload. It’s not a main, busy road passed the house so a few minutes to do this is not a problem. 2 mins walk to the Main Street of Amble and probably 10 mins max to walk to the harbour. Amble itself is quite small but has good range of shops and places to eat but the location of the house is great for exploring the Northumberland coast. I would definitely return.

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
