    “We stayed during the week so there were no markets on in the car park to rear of property, so it was extremely quiet.”

    The rear of the property overlooks the harbour, beach and Warkworth Castle, which is lovely. Great cottage for a break with dogs, very practical and clean but nothing fancy. Our only down side would be the boiler being in the main bedroom, it was chilly when we stayed and it switched on and off repeatedly through the night and was rather loud, but not an issue in the summer months. If planning to use the log burner you will need to supply logs as only 2 were supplied, despite a locked log ...

If planning to use the log burner you will need to supply logs as only 2 were supplied, despite a locked log store full in the back yard, we just didn't bother using it as there were barely sufficient to light it. Overall a great base for Amble and surrounding areas, but be prepared to supply what you need, tea, coffee, milk, bin bags etc there were few basics other than salt and vinegar, again not a big thing as convenience stores not far away and a good size Supermarket up the road.

    Thank you for your review, My response will be somewhat different to most responses. Not at all as a result of your points raised. I am very sorry that the boiler in the bedroom disturbed your sleep, it is new and one of the most silent boilers available. from my Hive app it only fired up and operated on your last night and no other nights during your stay. This has never been an issue In 12 years , there is a thermostat that guests can turn up or down the heat to suit their needs. Heating is set at normal temperatures.I cannot apologise enough for the lack of logs left for the log burner, the housekeepers should’ve left a full log box for you to use. Your review will be forwarded to them. I wish you had telephoned me during your stay. The housekeepers would have come out and restock the log box . The log store is now locked as, unbelievably locals have seen guests filling their car boot with Logs to take away home with them.I am also very sorry that you found a poor supply of basic provisions in the kitchen we aim to leave a basic amount there for guests. However, We have found that some guests take with them when they leave supplies in the kitchen . So cannot guarantee what is available for you on your arrival. Also health and safety does not allow us to leave open products for guests to use on their arrival. ie Tea and coffee and Any other consumables.We aim to provide a very home from home cosy cottage welcoming to Guests with dogs, unfortunately the bling effect n dogs don’t mix. The property

A terraced cottage backing onto the harbour wall in the popular sea port of Amble. Cosy and comfortable Redgate is in an ideal location for visiting all the exciting restaurants and attractions that Amble has to offer, perfect for couples or small families requiring a central base to explore this historical county. On entering your cottage your are welcomed into a lovely sitting room with warming woodburner, dining area, cosy sofas and Sky Signature TV. To the rear of the cottage there is a well-presented kitchen with all the requirements needed for a family, seaside break. A door from the sitting room leads up to two lovely bedrooms, one double with TV and a single. The bathroom is a place of relaxation, with a freestanding roll-top bath and a large walk-in rain shower, look closely and you can see Warkworth Castle and the river estuary whilst washing your hair! To the rear of Redgate there is a small enclosed yard, perfect for letting dogs out safely or just sitting and watching the world and the boats go by. On Saturdays and Sundays the area to the rear has market stalls along with the harbour pods selling gifts and all manner of exciting things to purchase. The busy centre of Amble is just a few minutes walk and has some superb restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream parlours. With the Heritage Coastline on your doorstep take your pick of the historical castles and long golden beaches. Take a trip to the delightful Alnwick Gardens or simply stay put in your well-placed Amble cottage and soak up the local area. Redgate is ideally placed for your Northumbrian break.

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
