“A great place to stay and everything you need.”

Have to mind your head in the upstairs bedroom, the bath is good but the plughole is in an odd place ..when laid down you press on it and it empties. The toilets need sorting as not enough water in them to do a flush you have to do a few. Everything else is great, views, easy to get to places, walks and the little town of Rothbury is only a mile walk. The curry house is nice but didn't try the chip shop as we don't like cod. Would go again but owner selling up so have to find elsewhere.

About the location

ROTHBURY

Alnwick 11.8 miles; Alnmouth 16.1 miles; Morpeth 17.3 miles.

The capital of Coquetdale, Rothbury, lies on the north bank of the famous salmon and trout river, the Coquet, and is dominated by the heather clad Simonside Hills. It is an attractive, small market town and its proximity to Northumberland’s National Park ensures excellent local walking. Stone houses, typical of the region, line the town’s steep main streets and there is a Post Office, a good range of shops, and a variety of eateries to take advantage of. With a golf course, public tennis courts and cycle hire close by and a variety of great houses and gardens to explore, including the National Trust site of Cragside, Alnwick Castle (home of the Duke of Northumberland), Wallington Hall and a host of famous castles, this great location has plenty to offer. Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder Reservoir and Forest, and the sandy beaches and dunes of the Northumberland Coast AONB are also within easy driving distance.
