“Had family with small grand children nearby so needed a bolthole to come back to for wind down and peace and quiet.”

We found it. Pity we only used it as a b and b but evrything was there, comfort, log fire etc. Great property beautifully furnished. Would love to return for a proper break away a d make full use of all that was there.

Quiet and peaceful. One little recommendation as it is very dark, a must for amazing night skies, a torch or sensor lights in bathroom and en-suite at night would be useful to avoid putting light on for anyone needing night visit

great pub within 5 minutes walk. The cottage is ideally located to explore Northumberland. Alnwick is only 20 minutes drive away. Edinburgh is only 90 minutes drive. The cottage is very light and modern and had a quiet, south facing garden. Lovely bird song was a bonus..

..the cottage was spotlessly clean, had comfortable beds and all the facilities were amazing and modern and having two parking spaces was ideal. We highly recommend this amazing convenient cosy cottage and appreciated the owner leaving us a welcome gift of milk, wine and delicious chocolate biscuits...thank you! “An absolutely terrific cottage situated in a really beautiful location.”

Everything about the cottage spoke of the owners attention to detail. Chatton village itself was wonderfully quiet, yet had the Percy Arms pub for breakfasts, dinner and drinks. And there was even a quaint post office and village shop. As for the cottage, it was great to have 2 parking spaces right next to the cottage. The cottage garden was very private. No issues with accessing the cottage keys on arrival. Inside the cottage we were surprised at the real quality of the place, yet so homely and quiet. Everything we might have needed was there. We highly recommend Hemmel Cottage and hopefully we will be returning next year.

The property is well appointed and the village a great base for exploring Northumberland. Guest information pack was informative and the guidebooks in the property helped plan some day trips. My wife is an avid reader and enjoyed reading the many books in the bookshelf, including one on the area of Glasgow that we reside in. Quite the coni coincidence. We had our wedding anniversary meal on the first evening in the pub less than 5 mins walk along the road. It was excellent quality and very reasonably priced. Would definitely stay again as this peaceful village is close enough to many of the attractions Northumberland has to offer.

Immaculate cottage and everything you could need was there for you. Two bathrooms a bonus and beds so very comfy. Village location was perfect and the private garden was a haven of peace after busy sightseeing day. Ideal location to visit Bamburgh, Alnwick, Seahouses and rest of coast as well as the national park all just short drive away. Village shop very friendly and perfect for bread, milk papers etc. we will be back!

The layout was ideal for a married couple and a visiting cousin from Canada - having the two bathrooms gave us both a bit of privacy! Everything went well and we wouldn’t hesitate to book this place again if w are ever in the area.

“Really excellent cottage and location - kitchen living area and bedrooms all excellent.”

Would have been useful to have logs for the wood burner or access (key) to the shed for the outdoor cushions (the comfortable wicker furniture not available during our stay) . Just minor points since most days were out cycling, walking or sightseeing. The power cut on Saturday 30th April 8am did not affect us since it was our leaving day. May be useful to provide guidance on response for future guests - locals had indicated this has occurred in the past. Overall great accommodation and local facilities such as the Percy arms

Hi, we are really glad you had such a good time at Hemmel Cottage and enjoyed the great local facilities Apologies for the garden furniture, unfortunately it was severely damaged in Storm Arwen and we have replaced it with a temporary set. You should have had access to the shed for the cushions, but apologies if the key was not available, this will be rectified. The addition of Christmas decorations was a nice touch and made our stay all the more relaxing. The pub down the road from the cottage is a good place to eat and enjoy a drink. The local shop has all the essentials you need. I am sure we will stay here again.

“This cottage had everything you would need including thoughtful extras, like a box of emergency supplies.”

So if you had forgotten your toothbrush, sanitary supplies or needed a needle and thread - there it was in the box!! Brilliant idea. There was salt and pepper in the kitchen cupboards, dishwasher tablets, lots of fresh clean tea towels, spare bulbs, extra bath towels, you name it. The fridge had a new carton of milk in it and there was a bottle of wine and biscuits on arrival. It took a while to find the ironing board (tucked away in the spare bedroom), but the iron was readily to hand on top of the washing machine. Probably the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. Plus it was very comfortable, and had a private, well equipped garden so we could sit outside comfortably. To add to all that, we loved the location. Perfect.
