Englewood Cottage
Description
Englewood Cottage has been successfully available with Sykes Cottages for over 32 years and is a welcoming pet-friendly cottage in Allenheads, Northumberland.
Ideal for families this pet-friendly abode features a multi-fuel stove, lovely rural views and enclosed garden.
Parking the car just outside Englewood Cottage, the atmosphere immediately feels calm and open, with wide moorland rolling away in every direction and the quiet of the Allenheads landscape settling in around you, while the stone-built terrace sits comfortably within its surroundings, hinting at its long history and the slower pace of life you’re stepping into.
Entering the cottage, the sense of heritage is clear, with thick stone walls and well-proportioned rooms reflecting its 1854 origins, inviting you to set bags down, open a window to the fresh moorland air, and begin to unwind as the day softens around you.
Moving through the accommodation, the spaces feel generous and easy to live in, allowing you to cook, gather, and relax together without effort, with original charm woven naturally into everyday moments and the furnishings supporting comfort rather than competing with the setting.
To the rear, a shared pathway leads you gently out of the cottage and towards the private garden, creating a gradual transition from indoors to open space, where the garden runs down towards a small stream whose gentle movement brings a constant, soothing soundtrack.
This is a place to step out with a morning drink, wander down towards the water, or pause as the light shifts across the surrounding moorland, with the cultivated garden blending seamlessly into the wider landscape beyond.
Days out within easy reach offer memorable experiences for families and friends alike, from Killhope Lead Mining Museum where you can explore historic buildings, walk the open hills around the site, and gain a hands-on sense of the area’s industrial past, to the market town of Hexham where independent shops line the streets, the abbey rises quietly at the centre, and riverside walks offer space to stretch your legs, while Hadrian’s Wall invites you to walk along ancient stone remains, take in sweeping views across open countryside, and imagine the lives once lived along the edge of the Roman world.
Englewood Cottage is a place to slow down and soak it all in.
