Tile Rouge

We enjoyed our stay at Tile Rouge very much .

It was very comfortable and well equiped with all you needed. The setting of our cottage was beautifully set in a natural area. Peacefull and relaxing . Would definetely reccomend a visit to this lovely cottage.

Tile Rouge, we found to be eminently suitable to our needs.

Beds were comfortable, general equipment more than adequate, the heating system was comfortable. Only downside the garden is not secure or directly accessible from the cottage. The site itself was really good the Cheviot Goat served a good pint (not ridiculously expensive either) the pool, games room and playground all well equipped and cared for. All in all we would have no hesitation in returning.

constant hot waterfor the shower and bath and luxury soft towels comfy beds in the 2 very large bedrooms and plenty of wardrobe space.combined washer dryer. fridge freezer. the only thing to improve on would be to make the enclosed garden more secure for dogs. there is a couple of steps in the living room so be careful. the bar on site was only open Thursday to Sunday.. our grandchildren loved the pool and no limited time in the water. we had a peaceful relaxing holiday and would definately stay here again also thank you so much for the lovely welcome pack the shannon family

Fantastic place enjoyed staying at the cottage will definitely be returning next year hopefully same cottage or another one.

The estate itself was covered in snowdrops, with daffodils waiting in the wings.

The cottage was lovely, clean, well appointed, and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The weather was another matter!

Comfortable cottage, well placed for exploring Northumberland.

We were very happy with the cottage, it is in lovely surroundings and convenient for trips out.

It was very cold when we got there because I think the storage heaters had not been turned on the night before. The next day everything was fine. There was no shower in the downstairs bathroom although the information on the website said that there was. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. I would stay again.

Lovely location.

The property needs some improvements to make it more comfortable, convenient and safe, eg handrails near steps, product shelves in bathrooms and door hooks. Minor things but all would help.

The Rouge is a quirky and cosy cottage set amongst 3 other detached cottages.

It is on the edge of the Cheviot Hills. Beautiful surroundings from the front door right into the hills, including great walks along St Oswalds Way and Yeveringbell. A 3 mile walk to the market town of Wooler or a short drive for supplies. Very well situated for exploring the coast too, being only 30 minutes drive to Banburgh Castle and Lindisfarne. The Rouge has a lovely garden to enjoy after a day of walking, along with brilliant dark Skys. Two spacious bedrooms, a shower room and large bathroom wit a great bath. Kitchen is small but well equipped. My personal preference would be a dishwasher rather than a washing machine. We would certainly use the cottages at Akeld Manor again.

I am an elderly lady with moderate disabilities.

It wasn't mentioned in your description that this property was unsuitable for people with disabilities. Also the pictures on your site are not accurate. The living room is quite dark & the lighting inadequate, I was unable to read a newspaper. My son & I did enjoy our stay, it was warm, comfortable beds & good facilities for fit visitors. So many lovely places to visit within a short drive & great for walkers. I would visit again at a more suitable cottage. It was good value, thank you

Great location, beautiful landscapes.

Great cottage, very clean and tidy and well equipped. Good comfortable beds.

The cottage was comfortable but the site was not well signed so in the dark it was difficult to find the position of the cottage and we struggled with that.

Inside it was well equipped but needed another heater for the winter. It also needed more kitchen utensils for cleaning and washing dirty pans. The cottage was in a good position for walking in the Cheviots and going into Wooler.

We loved Tile Rouge!

The property was in a very quiet location with nobody else staying in the 3 other cottages around it. The owls hooting in the surrounding trees was especially enjoyable. We catered for ourselves for 5 nights and ate out for two. Both the Red Lion pub 3 miles in one direction and the Italian restaurant in Wooler were excellent for eating. All the cooking equipment we needed was provided. It was also beautifully clean when we arrived. Also the storage heaters kept it very warm when we would return from a cold day out walking. For us the only downside was having to go downstairs from the twin bedroom to use the loo in the night!

First the positives.

The cottage was very clean and tidy and the wifi was very efficient. The cottage as a whole was very dated and is in need of updating. A few minor issues need attention - toilet not flushing correctly, toilet seat needs urgent attention. The lights on the cooker were not working, The cooker power socket on the wall did not illuminate both giving the impression it was not working. The painted wood step into the shower is a disaster waiting to happen. The TV was very basic.

A very nice property for two couples in a very good location making it very accessible for all the top tourist spots, as in all within a 45 minute drive.

Whilst it advertises as having no WiFi, phone signal coverage was remarkably good for its relatively remoteness. The only one issue that I was aware before we arrived was the two bathrooms on the ground floor which isn’t necessarily ideal. The property was certainly spotlessly clean, well equipped and with more than adequate heating and hot water. The icing on the cake however was the wonderful Italian restaurant in Wooler, Milan, which we went to a couple of times and which was superb for food and service. A very nice week’s stay and thank you.

We had a very peaceful week in Tile Rouge as was our intention.

The accommodation was very comfortable and well situated, in a natural setting, to explore the beautiful Northumberland coast and national parks. There are walks straight out of the Akeld Manor site into the local hills also and a good variety of shops and eateries in Wooler a couple of miles away.

There was 3 things we brought to your attention and all 3 were delt with the following day.

A very pleasant cottage in a peaceful location.

All appliances worked and the layout was cosy but spacious. We would stay again. Surrounding area is quiet and accessible half an hour drive to Bamburgh. The only down side was the bed and pillows were a bit uncomfy but that is personal preference.

It was very peaceful, the cottages very comfortable, considering we were a bit late booking we were amazed most had not been booked.

The customer service on the premises was also excellent!

We found the location perfect for us with walking routes into the Northumberland National Park direct from the cottage & alternative coastal attractions only a short drive away Although the remote location may not suit everyone We were also fortunate to have quiet neighbours as the other cottages are grouped closely together which could be a problem

Was disappointed to find no hand wash or hand gel in the property .

Personally I think the washing machine should be replaced with dishwasher particularly given Covid situation. The cottage was clean and is in a great location for hiking and cycling and also for exploring other areas . Kitchen is very tiny . Double bedroom is a good size .
