Peth Head Cottage

Peth Head was a lovely cottage to spend our family holiday inn.

Clean, well equipped and in a great location. Ideal for the kids as the play and skate park are just down the road. Easy access to the shops and easy to get out of to go on day trips. Surrounding area is stunning.

We have stayed at Peth Head on four occasions now and it never fails to please.

Comfortable, well equipped, clean and ideal location for access to places we choose to visit, whether it be Alnwick, Berwick or even further afield to St Abbs. Hope to return next year.

Peth Head is in a good location in the village of Wooler with parking.

We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage had everything we needed and felt homely and comfy. Thanks for the welcoming gifts, they were really appreciated. Wooler common is a short drive or walk away, good local shops and Wooler is a great location for exploring the Cheviots countryside. Highly recommended and we would have no hesitation in booking again.

Overall we were pleased with the accommodation,there was just one thing,the drinking cups were dirty,and had to be washed before use but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

The kitchen had plenty of storage and was well thought out. The living room was spacious and again had everything you need. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of storage.

It's literally a 2 minute walk from the big co-op which is at the top of the main street of Wooler, where there are many lovely little shops and cafe and very friendly people. Try Perfect Shot for the best takeaway sandwich! The cottage kitchen is a nice size with every utensil you could need and there's a lovely big living room with 2 comfy settees and a big comfy chair. There's also a large treasure chest in the living room full of games and jigsaws. There's so much to do in the general area that you really need another week. We didn't venture too far from Wooler, with the longest journey being less than 30 minutes drive. Our favourite trips were Heatherslaw cornmill (story teller is absolutely brilliant!) and then a lovely little trip on a stream train to Etal (rhymes with beetle!) which cost £30 return for 2 kids and 2 adults. There's a cafe, pub, castle ruins and a lovely cidery. Another favourite day was Kimmerston Riding Centre where the kids went for for their first riding experience on a lead walk. Staff are absolutely brilliant and we had to go back again as the kids loved it so much. If we decide to return to the area we'd definitely stay at Peth Head Cottage. Oh and I know there's mention of the parking in a couple of reviews but it's fine. We have a big Citroen C5 and it was absolutely fine. Private parking for 1 car at the back of the property.

The cottage was everything we could have hoped for clean comfortable and very well presented

A lovely, spacious and comfortable house with good range of equipment and storage.

Close to shops, cafes and pubs. We would have liked more lamps than one in the living room, to create more focused light near to all sofas and chairs, eg for reading, rather than have on the strong main ceiling light. Other than that, the only problem was the lack of hot water when using the sink tap, causing us to use the kettle when washing up.

The cottage is well equipped, clean and comfortable.

The location is perfect for exploring Northumberland's natural beauty spots and more. Having stayed three times now, I'm sure we shall be back.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Wooler is a lovely little town with just about everything anyone needs. There are lots of places of within a short drive and numerous walks on the doorstep.

Cottage was very comfortable, clean and had everything we could need for our stay.

Nice and quiet both in the daytime and overnight. Very short walk to shops, particularly the local Co-op, for groceries.Liked having the little bench out front for an evening relax in the sun.

) The beds were really comfortable and we were toasty warm the entire week. The living room was really spacious and though the kitchen is compact, it has everything you could possibly need. Would highly recommend Peth Head Cottage to anyone visiting Wooler.

Not for publishing but as a suggestion could you put the parking information in your folder too please. I didn't see the "reverse out" info on the notice board in the kitchen till it was too later....but had read through the folder. Only a minor point

We have stayed at this cottage several times and whenever we plan a trip to Northumberland it’s the first cottage I look for.

I wouldn’t describe the house as plush but it is clean, warm and comfortable. The cottage is ideally situated - close to shops and restaurants but with easy access to the hills. The only downside (which has to do with the town and not the house) is that they have changed the way electric car owners access the chargers. For the past few years we have been able to plug in, pay and charge our car. Now you have to use an app. I don’t know what’s going on - even in Alnwick all the chargers require apps. The provider is a company called Ampup and they are a nightmare to use and fail most of the time.

Yes very good around condition everything you required in cottage, very comfortable ideal location, wooler is a lovely village.

Lovely place to stay clean and handy for shops and pubs would stay again.

Restaurants & shops close to hand. Whisky distillery in Wooler a must! First time to the area of Northumberland and we certainly will return. Beautiful countryside, beaches and towns.

The towels and bedding are good quality and the owners are available for any queries. We had terrible weather (March) but the cottage is home from home to relax in.

Having a parking space was good, though a little tricky getting round the corner at first, ok once you have got used to it.Our first visit to Wooler & Northumbria but I am sure it will not be our last..Great place to visit & lovely accomodation + excellent weather made for a memorable holiday.

Kitchen well equipped, beds comfortable and cosy lounge. Only one downside, would have liked the water to be a little hotter, but wonder if regulations state a maximum temperature level as this is the second cottage this year where we have found the water too cool. Perfect location for our week in Northumberland. Even had two fledgling great tits on our windowsill entertaining us. This was our second stay at Peth Head and fully intend to return. Many thanks.

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and in a good location.

We booked initially for one week in April but our circumstances changed and we decided to stay for another.

The cottage is very well equipped, with a spacious, comfortable living room, a kitchen with everything you need, and two very comfortable bedrooms. It really was a home from home, and exactly what we needed while going through the stress of moving to a new house abroad. Wooler itself is so friendly, with great shops, cafes and pubs and the people are so warm, we felt like we could stay forever. Thank you!

Great location for exploring the beautiful area. Some people mentioned the parking as tricky - but we have a Skoda Kodiaq and it was fine - just needs a bit of reversing that is all. Highly recommended.

We really hit lucky.

It was so convenient to the town and was well equipped. The front was a sun trap and the bench was well used. You do need a small car as parking around the back was difficult but the owners had left helpful instructions about reversing out. A lovely stay for early season(March)

Peth Head Cottage is absolutely beautiful and was in a perfect location for our walking holiday in the Cheviots.

The cottage is tastefully decorated. I particularly appreciated the extremely comfortable beds and the fabulous bedding. The log fire was also wonderful, and very efficient, as the weather was quite cold when we were there and we just needed to be cosy in the evenings after a long day walking. As well the High Street is only a stone’s throw away, with lots of useful small shops we were able to get everything we needed locally. There is only one thing that I would have loved to have in the kitchen! A colander! I would recommend this cottage to anyone – this is one of the best cottages I have ever rented.

Cottage felt like a home rather than a holiday let.

Immaculately prepared and scones and jam most welcome! Everything you could need for a comfortable stay — fire easy to light, mattresses really comfortable,duvets luxurious and kitchen short of nothing. Wooler a delightful place and everyone friendly. Enjoyed meals at Milan and Tankerville arms and walks from the cottage door into the hills . Look forward to returning.

Peaceful, well equipped, cosy cottage.

Shops, pubs etc all within a short walk. Loads of walking on the doorstep here and the beaches aren’t too far away either.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely comfortable and clean cottage which was very convienient for the centre of Wooler for shopping etc.

Kitchen well equiped and now has a good tin opener. Rather than endure the hassle of accessing and parking in the allocated space next to the cottage we tended to park on the nearby roads when we didnt need to carry too much from the car. Whilst the rooms were warmly heated, we found the unheated stairs and landing corridor rather cool unless internal doors were left open.

The cottage well positioned to centre of Wooler-There are renovating going on in cottage next door but didn’t disturb us or our stay- parking was round back of cottage didn’t inconvenience us in fact easier access for car to cottage-all in all comfortable cottage and highly recommended for stay and driving to other parts of Northumberland

I was very unsure of where the cottage was in the village before booking.

Was very disappointed to find it was in a quite neglected row of houses with the cottage next door being renovated and the back area was like a building site. The lace curtains in the window made the cottage look very run down. They also needed a wash. I took them down and put them back up at the end of the stay. Access to the property was impossible. I caught and broke my wing mirror on the corner of the house whilst trying to leave Path Head as the access is so tight The kitchen was very clean but had a strange smell which did not go even after using air freshener

Great Cottage as per review.

Only downside was difficulty parking outside Cottage. This was explained before booking. Other downside was having to put the recycling bin out which was full at the junction to the main road. I am Asthmatic which didn't help and my wife needs to see Chiropractic every month, Apart from the moan and the weather a lovely well equipped cottage.

The main problem encountered was the parking.

Whilst the information stated parking at the rear of the property this proved to be quite restrictive in use. Access is through a narrow gap between two buildings and a low wall. I found the best method to gain the rear of the property was to reverse both in and out onto the main road. This made leaving and returing each day a chore.

The cottage was in a very good position in the small town of Wooler near the pubs and shops.

It was well equipped, except the washer would not work the hot fill was not connected.The tin opener needs replacing. We enjoyed our stay ,bus service to Berwick and Alnwick from the town every two hours. Anchor pub just across the road was well worth a visit we went to the Quiz night and there were a lot of locals in who made us welcome . The local butchers, bread shops were good and the Friday Night fish and chip van down the hill near the fire station was excellent.
