“We arrived here on the 30th December 2026 and booked for 6 nights due to depart on Sunday 4th January.”

First impressions the cottage is beautiful with everything you need. It is located close to Budle Bay and set in quiet grounds away from the main road. The whole cottage would benefit from a good clean as there was dust on most surfaces and cobwebs on the beams. The windows upstairs had blinds that were thick with black mould including around the en‑suite shower. On our first night there was a power cut which can't be helped given the rural location. From night one we had problems with the hot water in the upstairs bath and shower in the en‑suite. As a result we contacted the owner who sent a plumber the next day and they stated everything was fine. It wasn't and I had to endure boiling kettles and pans to get hot water in the bath for my two children. The owner stated that there is an electric shower over the bath to use this to fill the bath. This again was faulty and pumped out lukewarm water. Really disappointing and put a real dampener on our stay resulting in us leaving early. If the areas above are addressed and taken seriously I would recommend a stay here. An honest review of our stay.

I am so pleased you liked the location of The Warren, it is a very beautiful setting We responded immediately to your issues regarding the apparent lack of hot water and sent a plumber around by 10am on New Year’s Eve. After thoroughly checking the whole hot water system and the showers, he could find no problem whatsoever. There was an abundance of hot water and the showers were working properly in his professional opinion. You acknowledged this on Wed 31st. It wasn’t until the evening of Friday 2nd Jan, the claims of no hot water were repeated and you said you were leaving early. I can only respond to ‘issues’ I know about. A plumber had established that all was fine. You left on Saturday morning and we immediately checked the supply of hot water in the showers and bath and found it to be abundant. I fail to understand why you were not able to get the hot water you required but it does appear to be user error as we have been unable to recreate this alleged fault . The electricity usage data during your stay, is not out of the ordinary, so doesn’t suggest you were boiling kettles and pans to fill the bath. The hot water and showers function perfectly. The Warren is a barn conversion with rustic timber beams. These may have some dust but I dispute your claim there was dust on most surfaces, this is frankly incorrect and your assertion of black mould on blinds is erroneous. We did take your concerns seriously and sought to address them immediately however no fault could actually be found. You had actually booked for 5 nights, not 6. The weather was most inclement during your stay, not ideal when holidaying with small children. Property Owner

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Note: The bunk bedroom is only suitable for children as bunks are not full size or suitable for children over 12 years of age.
Note: No fuel is provided but is available to purchase locally.
