“The house is in an ideal location, walking distance into Corbridge and there are so many places to visit within a short drive.”

The accommodation is generous and it’s well equipped. With three generations staying there, it was lovely having so many different reception rooms. The conservatory dining room got the morning sun for breakfast and the gazebo in the garden got the evening sun. A lovely place to stay

“Kerangarth is a roomy, comfortable house set in a quiet and narrow residential road, with easy parking for three cars, you could even get four on the drive if you were careful.”

It was nice and clean, and the well maintained garden is excellent. The kitchen is very large and well equipped, and everything worked. The house is well sited for a 10 to 15 minute walk into Corbridge over the Tyne bridge. Would stay again.

“Enclosing the garden would be the best improvement just for the peace of mind with dogs, but the owners very kindly accepted our 3 dogs to stay.”

The area is quiet and peaceful with walks a stones throw away. The double ensuite downstairs was perfect for my mums mobility issues. Corbridge centre a 15 minute walk away. The kitchen is immense! We had boiler issues that the owner did everything they possibly could to sort, and immediately offered some reimbursement- unusual in this day and age.

“Good location, pretty garden, spacious and comfortable beds.”

There were, however, a number of issues. After a very long drive up from Dorset the only thing that greeted us was a bottle of Prosecco with 2 glasses despite the booking being for 3 people. (We left this bottle in the wine fridge when we left.) No furniture in the downstairs bedroom so no where to put clothes or bits and pieces. This had been mentioned by other guersts. Problems getting the showers to work in the en-suite bathrooms, either too hot or too cold and the shower upstairs gave up completely on the final day, just loud clunking noises and no water. The nicest room was the comservatory which got the sun in the morning but the chairs were hard and uncomfortable.

“Lovely spacious property in a quiet location, nice garden.”

However maintenance issues rather let it down. The ensuite bathroom is very dated, non thermostatic mixer tap, and no where to put a wash bag. The floor has broken and cracked floor tiles giving off shards of ceramic tiles. The dishwasher runs but does not heat the water so is not effective, a kitchen chair with a loose leg, chipped plates and mugs and exactly 8 forks. With some repairs and replacements this house has great potential.

“Kerangarth is a beautiful property to stay at.”

It’s so comfortable for a large family group to spend time in. We had issues with a couple of dated appliances not working. Slightly irritating, and could be easily solved with new ones, in an otherwise excellent holiday home. We loved the walk into Corbridge, along the river and over the bridge. And it’s a gorgeous town to visit, as well as the surrounding area. There’s loads to do. Good times!

“Everything was great.”

We had Avery nice Christmas week. Caretaker was helpful when we had technical issues. We did have to ask for an airing rack (a house that size comes with a party size who need to dry laundry….) It is a cozy warm home, great location. Just needs some TLC in maintenance.

“Loved the space in this lovely house, plenty of room for a multi generational family break.”

The cottage garden was beautiful but we did'nt find the patio furniture which was advertised as 'ideal for al fresco dining', just two metal chairs! We did have a small meltdown moment when our two grandsons excitedly rushed to choose their bedroom only to find that one had pink sequined bedding on! The house is in a perfect location for visiting Corbridge and for walking beside the river. Would definately recommend Kerangarth.

“The cottage was lovely and clean and very spacious set in a quite and lovely setting.”

The garden was well kept. The house itself was comfortable and had a large well equipped kitchen. Each bedroom was set out lovely. There were some small issues like not having an iron and the mattress in the room we stayed in at the top of the stairs was a little soft for our liking so didn't sleep so well and the garden wasn't enclosed for the dog so had to be careful that she didn't wander on to the road. The town was just a short walk away which had a good variety of shops and would recommend the Awarde winning Bakery and Fruit and Veg shop next door. There are plenty of pubs that all served food and the Italian was very enjoyable. Overall a great stay and would definitely be returning at some point.

“Corbridge is lovely; a really attractive place with nice restaurants, pubs, shops, places to visit and travel links with trains and buses able to take you all over Northumberland and county Durham.”

The house has a large well stocked kitchen, two comfortable living rooms and 5 bedrooms two of which are en-suite. As well as a nice garden and garden room which we enjoyed sitting in at night. Really enjoyed our stay, will hopefully be back soon.

“From the welcoming bottle of Prosecco to the provision of a cot and high chair, together with a range of children’s toys and books every effort had been made for our stay.”

The rooms were clean and comfortable and we found there was plenty of space. The area was quiet, with no traffic noise. The only down point was a single downlight in the kitchen which was on the blink but that was minor and did not spoil our stay. Corbridge is a lovely village and well worth a visit. Some of us travelled up by train and we found the station a convenient walk away while local taxis were very good.

A delightful historic village surrounded by beautiful unspoilt Northumbrian countryside, Corbridge offers much of interest, including specialist shops, old inns and a 12th century bridge spanning the river. Hadrian’s Wall and Housesteads Fort are nearby, whilst the market town of Hexham is a few miles away and is well worth a visit, with its narrow bustling streets, good selection of shops and a fascinating abbey boasting 15th century paintings and a fine Saxon crypt. The Border Country, Northumbrian coast, Kielder Forest with cycling and watersports, Beamish Open Air Museum and Durham Cathedral are all within easy motoring distance, while the Gateshead Metro Centre (one of the largest shopping centres in Europe) can be found 20 miles to the east. Excellent golf and fly and coarse fishing are also available locally.
