“We have had a lovely 2 weeks at Mid Cote, ideal location for us and easy 25 min walk to seahouses harbour and only 5 mins from the sand dunes and sea.”

The cottage was clean and tidy, Anne came half way through and changed the bed and towels and cleaned. We could have done with more mugs and glasses as sometimes we had to wash them and sometimes ran the dishwasher not full. The garden was a delight just wish the weather had been a bit better. So much to do locally, this was our 4th visit to Northumberland but our 1st without children so could revisit places with different eyes.

I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the cottage though unfortunately I couldn’t do anything about the weather! No guest has ever suggested that the provision of crockery was inadequate: apart from plates and bowls there are eight cups and saucers, three mugs and eighteen glasses. As the facilities in the cottage are exactly as they appear in the listing I do not know what your expectations were here and I am very disappointed that this was the (only) area where you marked down the cottage, resulting in an overall low score. I am always open to constructive criticism and am continually endeavouring to improve the holiday experience for guests: I really don’t mind guests running the dishwasher not full and always provide plenty of dishwasher pods! About the location

SEAHOUSES

Beadnell 1.8 miles; Bamburgh 3.5 miles; Alnwick 14.8 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
