“Location was brilliant, nice river outlook.”

The house itself was very hot, heating right down/off, blinds closed, window open etc, still hot, which made it difficult for my family to sleep upstairs, as rooms were even hotter up there. Maybe, provision of some fans would help? Everything else inside was good, kitchen well equipped, washing machine, tumble worked well. Garden although lovely, meant we had to bring our dog long line and stakes, with no enclosed section (which I saw before coming, but read occasional horse may be seen on bridle way), glad I did bring it, as I think people need to be aware that quiet a few walkers, joggers, pass by the front of the house, with their dogs, children on bikes, so dogs need to be on lead, or content with strangers passing by the garden, when you’re sitting out. Most dog owners are fine with this, but for those that aren’t, be good to know about the daily use of that path/bridleway. We’d also suggest a clean n sort out of the utility room cupboards, the corner one to the left has spiders n cobwebs, the cupboards also have a few old teabags n odd items in. Also there was dust in the upstairs master bedroom draws (my mum used the draws and pulled out a load of dust n fluff with her clothes, which wasn’t ideal). Any further info required on my comments please let me know, I feel it’s important to feedback so things are understood, and can be addressed if you feel appropriate. We did really enjoy our stay as the location provides nice access to walks and local sites, we saw a Hare on the first night, and Heron on the river and jumping fish most days . No otters :)

Hi Stacy. Many thanks for taking the time to review your stay at Romsey Lodge. We’re delighted that you thought the location brilliant, with everything inside good and a well-equipped kitchen etc. We’re also delighted that you chose to visit the house during the recent heatwave. How nice to get such good weather whilst on holiday in Northumberland! I suspect that it is rare in Northumberland for reviews to be left mentioning that a property is too warm even with the heating off. A first for us. We’ll keep an eye out for future heatwaves, a rare occurrence locally, and will consider bedroom fans. Thank you for the idea. You are correct that the garden is unfenced. We listed the property as available to guests with pets, but ensured that this point is made in the details listed on the Sykes website. Also listed on the Sykes website is the presence of the usually quiet Bridleway (‘occasional horse riders and trekkers’). Perhaps the excellent weather you had encouraged a few more ramblers to use it. Thank you for bringing it to the attention of future guests. We have alerted our housekeeper to the spider and fluff issues. She tells me she is always on spider alert as the property is so remote and wooded, but some seem to have scuttled in past her this time! We have also removed the single unused tea bag in it’s packet from the Utility Room cupboard. We have left the other ‘odd items’ as guests sometimes make use of them, especially when they’re not mostly outside enjoying superb weather. The fluffy drawers will not be fluffy anymore! Well done on spotting the hare and heron, and the salmon and trout leaping after a meal. However we’re sorry you didn’t see the otters. They are shy, elusive and difficult to spot, so you’ll just have to come back and spend more time trying to see them! Best wishes, Bill & Jude Property Owner
