    “The property was fabulous but I would have to say it would be better if the listing stated here was no parking and especially as we got trapped in twice when parking along the fence line on the advertised road, the property was amazing and the levels of equipment was excellent, clean and serviceable.”

    There is a risk of damaging your car if you try to get it on the drive. There are restrictions on Queens Street which are 1 hour with no returns for 1 hour between 0900hrs and 1700hrs Monday to Saturday for information.

We have updated our guidance with further parking options, however the courtyard is available for guests who do feel comfortable driving into the courtyard. The Old Smithy is a 200 year old former BlackSmiths and offers well-presented accommodation, ideal for a family getaway to the coastal town of Amble, Northumberland.The Old Smithy is tucked away in a secluded private courtyard behind Queens Street (the main shopping street). The Old Smithy is ideal for a family holiday which benefits from three bedrooms, separate lounge and dining room. Queen Street (a Great British High Street Awards winner) offers a variety of independent shops and cafes. Stroll a little further from the high street and you will find a modern marina, the new Amble Harbour retail pods and a selection of award-winning eateries such as The Old Boat House (voted best Fish restaurant in the U.K. 2016/17) and Spurelli’s ice cream parlour. It’s no surprise Amble is known for being a small fishing town with a huge personality. ACCOMMODATION GROUND FLOOR Entrance hall with access via stairs to the first floor. Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
