First impression on west lodge was the gardens where not kept and not very maintained 4pm entry we struggled to put the key in the door due to no lighting and very dark as we entered the property it was extremely cold due to heating not being on then we found out it was on a timer that we could not alter there was no welcome pack there was only a two seater sofa and two chairs in lounge the main bedroom was very cold all the time even when heating was on When we used the shower within 2mins it would go ice cold even having a bath was hard work due to taking ages to fill the bath and the temperature was not hot and we couldn’t change that neither we had to take it it turns to have a bath due to the shower not working correctly the bath also had a long term drip that had not been fixed from previous vist the toilet smelt of urine around it which was not nice when having a bath that’s all u could smell Also noticed in the morning the road got quiet busy with traffic going past mainly hgv or tractors that where banging and waking us up most mornings due to not having double glazing windows We definitely won’t be returning needs improvement and gardens maintaining a lot better

These guests left the cottage in the worst state we have ever had in over 20 years. The cottage was so filthy with mud and dog hair we had to clean all the carpets and wash all the seat covers. The smell of stinking dog was overpowering! Thankfully there wasn't anyone coming in as we would have had to cancel them. The heating can easily be changed to manual on the control panel in the kitchen and the cottage is very warm generally. A new shower has recently been installed and works perfectly well if used correctly. There has always only been a 2 seater sofa and 2 armchairs due to the size of the cottage and if that is not enough seating why did you come back? Looking at the chairs it looked like the dogs had been sitting on them which is perhaps why you need more. There is a contact number if there are any problems but we never heard from you all week! Delighted to hear you won't be coming back as not the kind of guests we want. Property Owner

About the location

CHATHILL

Beadnell 3 miles; Alnwick 9 miles.

Chathill is a small rural hamlet comprised of little more than a farm and a few houses. It is sited only 3 miles from attractive and peaceful Beadnell, which lies on one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland's magnificent Heritage Coast. Once a smugglers’ haven, Beadnell is now a fishing village, popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour. Central to all rural North Northumberland and within easy driving distance of the nearby glorious sandy beaches between Seahouses (where boat rides can be booked for the spectacular Farne Islands) and Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick, Holy Island and the Scottish Borders, there is plenty to see and do.
