Rustle up a tasty afternoon snack in the kitchen, before gathering in the dining room to discuss your plans for the evening ahead. Wander into the traditionally styled lounge where you can sit beside the gas fire and ponder on the holiday thus far, or choose a book from the provided selection and lose yourself in a good read. Just outside the village is Swinhoe Farm Riding Centre for those equestrians in the party. Take a trip to the Farne Islands to meet the colony of seals who call the island home and learn of the famous Grace Darling, daughter of the Longstone Lighthouse Keeper. Those Harry Potter fans must stop by Alwick Castle and saunter through the grounds of this normal castle that used to film many iconic scenes in the movie. Keen walkers will enjoy strolling through the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, stopping off at Lindisfarn Priory before visiting the Castle and North Shore along the way. The picturesque Northumberland village of Belford lies in the heart of Heritage countryside, midway between the popular walled towns of Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed. The pretty coastal village of Bamburgh, with its sweeping beaches and dramatic castle, is only a short drive away. Belford itself is an old coaching village with a pleasant square and offers a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. It is ideally placed for exploring the Northumbrian Coastal Route, Cheviots, the renowned Northumberland Coastline and the Scottish Borders. The opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from nearby Seahouses, is not to be missed. Alternatively check the tide times and cross to Holy Island to visit the historic Lindisfarne Priory.
