“We took a chance on a new listing with no reviews and were very happy when we arrived.”

The welcome basket with milk in the fridge was much appreciated after the drive there. Accommodation was perfect for our needs. Set over three floors, it did keep us fit. The kitchen, on the ground floor, is very well-equipped. Also on the ground floor there is a toilet and access to the garage where you can store items. On the first floor, living room was comfortable for relaxing in the evening. On this floor there is also a twin bed room and shower room. On the second floor there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom. Location was excellent. There is off road parking for one car and the train station on the the Carlisle to Newcastle line is directly across the road. The bus stop for the AD122 bus taking you to Hadrian's Wall is also at the train station. There is a pub next door but we didn't hear any noise from that and the main street with a small Co-op and various other shops, pubs etc is a few minutes walk. Only downside was the lack of Internet connection while we were there. We did follow the instructions for WiFi but realised it was the actual internet connection which was the problem. This, however, did not stop us from enjoying the property. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and look forward to returning in the future.

About the location

HALTWHISTLE

Hexham 17 miles.

Known as the 'Centre of Britain', this small market town is a great place from which to explore both Northumberland and Cumbria. Haltwhistle boasts a good range of shops and pubs - one of which, The Black Bull, is a real ale pub serving good food! There is an excellent leisure centre with heated open air swimming pool and cycle hire in the town, with pony trekking nearby. One of the best preserved stretches of Hadrian's Wall is only a mile to the north with various museums, forts and milecastles to be seen. There is even an ongoing 'dig' at the nearby site of Vindolanda. This truly is magnificent walking, riding and cycling country, with the Pennine Way and various bridleways and cycle routes passing rivers, forests, castles and of course, Hadrian's Wall. Visitors will enjoy this location in all weather and all seasons – a regular train and bus service from the town to Newcastle, The Metro Centre and Carlisle, means that you can leave the car behind and enjoy!
