“Spacious. Clean.”

Nice touches, fresh bread, butter, milk, orange juice, tea bags, coffee, sugar, cleaning products, all for us to enjoy. Hot tub was lovely and warm. View from the cottage was amazing. Looking across fields to the sea. Added bonus of a family of hares outside every morning and evening. Didn't use the swimming pool though, maybe next time

“WOW!!!”

!!! what a fabulous holiday me and my husband have just had. Nook Cottage was just perfect, So well presented, comfortable and cosy. Loved the wood burner. Thank you for the welcome pack. At long last a kitchen that has good cutlery, pots and pans, crocks etc. The bed was excellent, a good nights sleep was welcomed on a firm mattress. It is so well thought out and it is luxury. Its been the perfect base for us to enjoy Northumberland. After a day of walking, hiking, visiting so many areas it was a joy to come back and sink into the hot tub to renew our weary bones and look out across to the sea. We actually only used the pool once as the hot tub was sufficient, even though it was so clean and easy to book. So best places we enjoyed for food are, Dunstanburgh Hotel, Jolly Fisherman (Craster) The Boathouse (Amble) Manor Hotel (Holy Island) So thank you guys, one of the best places we've stayed in and we'll definitely be back. only negative was I struggled to use the electric charging point. I couldn't get it to connect via the app and it seemed so difficult to try and type in all the serial numbers etc I gave up. I probably should have called you but we drive a hybrid so it wasn't the end of the world.

“These cottages are rated and the owners have a sign up saying 5 star luxury cottages, they are definitely not that.”

There are so many rules and do nots rather than do’s that it isn’t a relaxing holiday environment. The hot tub needed some maintenance, paint was chipping off in the area around it, it is not private in the least! You could see and hear children in next hot tub and the adjoining cottage kitchen window looked right at you. The worst thing was the comfort in the bedrooms, the beds were so hard we had to sleep on sofas, the bedrooms were cold even with the heating on! The bathroom was not welcoming or cosy, the floor was freezing. The bedrooms smelt musty so much so I didn’t put anything in the wardrobes. We stayed one night of our 3 night stay. I contacted the owner when we returned and they had no apology and didn’t believe us. Would not recommend and will not return.

The heating in the cottages is set to 16C if the cottage is empty, when entering the cottage, the motion sensor activates and is set to 20C there is a boost button which is set at 24C. The temperature of the cottage was 20C by 5pm. There is a wood-burner stove with a welcome pack of logs for your use if additional heating is required. The North Farm site has a mix of 4 and 5 tick properties Nook cottage is under 2 years old and rated as 4 ticks on Sykes website not 5 star. We have never had any complaints about a fusty smell or uncomfortable beds before as the cottages and beds are less than 2 years old. The hot tub is for the exclusive use of Nook it is not secluded with a fence around we have had lots of reviews about the tidiness of the site I am surprised you found it poorly kept. We have no control over the behavior of other guests enjoying themselves in communal areas. We kindly ask that guests strip the bedding as it is a huge help to the cleaning staff who are on site 4 days a week and our maintenance manager is on site 7.30am till 5pm Monday to Friday his phone number is in the guest information pack. I am sorry you have not enjoyed your stay and so not wish to return, I am more sorry that you had not phoned or emailed me or a member of staff during your stay so we could have tried to resolve your issues. We are a small family business and we take your concerns seriously, obviously bad reviews are very bad for us. Property Owner

“We’ve been to North Farm Cottages many times but unfortunately we felt it had become too commercialised with so many rules and regulations.”

You don’t really want to be contacted to say don’t forget to tidy up, fill the dishwasher, strip your beds put the linen here take all your rubbish etc etc!!! We’re supposed to be on holiday !! We also wanted a quick dip in the hot tub on the final morning. Just before 8 but the maintenance guy was there getting it ready I presume for the next people!!! The hot tub was freezing when we arrived so we couldn’t use it til about 9pm! We were only there for 3 nights, would have booked longer but that was all that was left so we wanted to make the most of the facilities but u fortunately we were left down. There was a power cut which understandably couldn’t be helped but on contacting the owner to ask advice on where we could keep milk for 4 month old grandson we were told to try the village of Embleton!!! With the size of the site some sort of back-up generator for emergencies would make sense. Nook Cottage was a nice cottage with lovely views to the sea but no privacy when in hot tub or sat out as cottages either side join you so people all across in front of you! Sorry!

Thank you for your feedback we will take a note of your suggestions and fix this faults you pointed out. The maintenance man has mended the shower issues. There is staff on site who would have came cleaned the sofas for you we also leave hoovers mops etc for guests to use.we ask that dogs are kept on the lead while on site as not all of our guests appreciate being greeted by dogs and also helps to keep the site clean and tidy.we know that the owner spoke to you regarding the swimming pool. “Lovely cottage good location for getting about we have stayed at other cottage’s and had a warm welcome no personal touch which we thought let it down .”

Long list of dos and don’ts no internet for most of a day so we had no ev charge for our return journey the ev apparently is the worse one anyway so it was the key reason we chose it and had to find the next nearest (nightmare) up there and again no one to ask but apart from that lovely castles etc

“We’ve had a lovely break at The Nook, which was spotlessly clean, inside and out.”

It’s very spacious and has lovely views over the fields towards the sea. There was butter, milk, juice, bread and biscuits when we arrived, which was very welcome. It is somewhere we would like to book again next time we visit Northumberland.

“Very impressed with the quality of accommodation, facilities, location and the general arrangement of the cottages site.”

A well cared for estate and a lovely walk to the coast along a mown path just makes the experience such a pleasure. Excellently thought out and a superb maintenance program makes the holiday seamless. This is within easy reach of the superb Embleton Beach (take the car and park at the Golf Club for just £3 per day), Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle. We had three cottages for our family so that we all had our own space but could meet up whenever we wanted and the grandchildren could pop in and out safely. Highly recommended.

Very good bathroom. Main areas of the cottage face the sea view. Great facilities in the kitchen. Hot tub was probably the best I’ve used in terms of cleanliness and great working order. Point to note - hot tub isn’t covered and is quite open to the elements and neither is it private. It’s definitely a ‘fair weather’ hot tub! If you’re happy with this then

“Nook cottage is a real gem, very comfortable and in a delightful location, a short stroll across farmland to a glorious beach.”

The cottage has a hot tub and there is a swimming pool on North Farm for use by guests, in the cottage courtyard there is also a picnic table / benches. The location is ideal for exploring the coastline and countryside of Northumberland. We so enjoyed our break in Nook that we have already booked for next year.

The mowed paths to walk safely into town were very well thought out. We were there with our kids and they had an amazing time too. Pool was a big hit. We will definitely be returning.

North Farm Cottages

A group of tastefully decorated, luxury cottages with panoramic views towards Embleton Bay. Each cottage at North Farm has been individually styled with great attention to detail; with dining tables for those celebratory meals, sleek kitchens and large living areas to accommodate you and your loved ones, spacious bedrooms with soft beds and bathroom facilities, all of which help to provide a superb base for touring this beautiful county. Relax on the peaceful patio area or perhaps enjoy a dip in the newly-built swimming pool. North Farm was once a busy working farm and is still surrounded by lush green fields. A safe, gently sloping farm track leads from the farm down to stunning Embleton Bay, with little extras along the way to make the walk more exciting. Guests can say hello to the three deer, stop off at the old pill box for a rest or relax on the beach and spend the day making sandcastles and paddling. From the beach, turn left and take a stroll to the Ship at Low Newton, famous for its microbrewery and scrumptious food, or for a more ambitious walk, turn right and take in Dunstanburgh Castle. Head to Craster, where you can sample the delights of a crab sandwich in the Jolly Fisherman, or pick up some kippers from Robson's famous smokery. The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.
