“The views are the undisputed highlight — dual aspects taking in the harbour, the Farne Islands, and Bamburgh Castle made for a wonderful backdrop.”

Sitting with a book to the sound of the sea was a real pleasure. That said, for the price paid, a few things didn’t quite hit the mark. The apartment is showing its age in places — scuffed paint, marked skirting boards and stained toilet seats that are overdue a refresh. A coffee machine feels like a reasonable expectation at this price point and was missed. The welcome hamper was a nice idea, but the contents felt generic rather than reflective of the brilliant local produce ...

The welcome hamper was a nice idea, but the contents felt generic rather than reflective of the brilliant local produce Northumberland is known for — a small change that would make a big difference. With some straightforward updates this could be an excellent stay — the location certainly has everything going for it.
