“Wow what can we say this beautiful house was everything one could ask for and more.”

Plenty of room and stocked kitchen cupboards with plenty of coking equipment and cutlery. Very well looked after and so convenient to the town and harbour. Really recommend this lovely house and can’t wait for next year as already booked

“Lovely terraced house, deceptively large with big rooms and high ceilings.”

No allocated parking though we always found a space on the street (which has a lot of holiday lets). 2 decent sized bedrooms and a very small single. We visited in July and it was absolutely roasting, so bring a fan if you have one. The vestibule has an odd smell (probably years of dogs and wet feet/shoes) which isn't a great first impression but the rest of the house was nice. House was well equipped and so well positioned, 2 mins walk from the harbour, from Tesco metro, and from nice café and restaurants. (Really recommend Jaspers). Enclosed concrete square out the backdoor, with a washing line. Set the clock on the oven or it won't work! Perfect base to explore Northumberland, though Amble itself is very nice, especially in the good weather. Recommend the seabird cruise from Amble during the summer months. From previous reviews: one of my teenagers sorted the colour issue on the tv, but we agree that kettle cannot be meant to make that noise! All in all, a lovely stay in a very nice home.

We will put a note by the cooker about the clock (it only needs to be re-set if someone has turned the cooker off at the mains supply) and check out the kettle (it also was fine when we were there in May). “Nettie's View was lovely and we would thoroughly recommend it.”

The one down side for us was that one of our party was older and there isn't a banister on the stairs. There are no grab rails for the bath or shower and no slip mat. The sofas are a little too low also. Apart from that, Nettie's View is amazing and in a great location.

We are so glad you liked our home, and hope your older person was able to enjoy their stay too. The house is Victorian and we are limited as to changes we can make. The stairs do have a handrail (although not on both sides of the stairs) and the grey sofa (or a dining room chair) is higher and easier to get out of. “Nettie’s View is a spacious, comfortable cottage located on a quiet street in the heart of Amble, close to the shops & harbour, & within walking distance of the beaches.”

The kitchen is well equipped (but beware the glass kettle!) & plenty big enough for 4 people. The beds are comfortable. A major criticism: the colour on the TV is AWFUL & we couldn’t adjust it. We couldn’t bear to watch it. A minor criticism: while most of the house was very clean, there were a few cobwebs in the kitchen & bathroom, & hair in the shower plug hole when we arrived. However we would happily stay there again, preferably after the TV’s been fixed!

“Netties view is a fantastic property, very spacious and comfortable with a small yard outside.”

A brilliant location in the heart of Amble, we didn't want to leave. The house caters for everything and had a very well stocked kitchen and the bedrooms are very comfortable too. My only criticism is you could do with a proper wardrobe/chest of drawers in the main bedroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly likely return as there's so much to see and do in and around the area. Thank you very much. Jen, Derek and Patch

We have just been up for some maintenance and checked the bathroom door - we think it's only possible to see an outline whether it's light or dark - fitting a blind isn't feasible but there are hooks in the back of the door where you could hang a bath towel to provide more privacy. “We stayed here at Easter, it looked just like a small terraced house from outside, we couldn’t believe it when we entered it was absolutely huge.”

We couldn’t believe what a lovely property it was. Everything was in walking distance, the market,shops pub etc the harbour was lovely and the seals were there every morning. The house has everything you need. The open fire was lovely. I gave it only three scores for cleaning because when we arrived I took my shoes off and walked around the kitchen putting things away , when I had done and went to sit down I noticed my feet were jet black, I’d had a shower before I left home my feet were clean so this was a shock. However the rest of the house was spotless. Parking was a nightmare due to the close proximity of the shops etc once we got a space we didn’t move the car till we went home. Amble is a lovely place the house was lovely we had a fabulous time. If you don’t mind the parking situation then this is for you. I highly recommend this beautiful house .

We have asked the agent to refer the kitchen floor cleanliness to the cleaning company and will check it when we go up in the autumn. We find parking isn't an issue outside of school holidays, but the street can get busy at times. For unloading / loading your car, you could use the lane and the back door, once you have let yourselves into the house - it is not often used by vehicles and you should be able to stop there for enough time. “A lovely spacious, yet cosy house, that was very well equipped and accommodated 4 adults easily.”

Easy parking on the street when we returned each day, and very centrally located. Comfy beds, nice bed linen and beautiful fluffy towels. We've stayed in Amble many times over the last few years, and this house suited our needs exactly, so we will be back. Just one small maintenance comment to add - the pedal bin needs replacing as the foot pedal doesn't work, so it's not hygienic.

“This property was very clean and tidy, very well equipped and extremely comfortable.”

It is in a lovely small seaside town. Central heating has the simplest control system I have ever encountered, no degree required to operate! Extremely clean and tidy back yard. In connection with a plumber calling about a very small matter from before our visit (no problem) I had occasion to speak to Kirsty and Clare/Claire at the Almouth office who were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

“Our first time at this lovely home but many times staying in Amble.”

The home is lovely , very traditional and well kept. Beds are very comfy, kitchen is very well equipped. When we arrived after 4pm we found the house to be cold as thermostat set at only 15degrees. We did turn it up and it was lovely and cosy. A welcome pack of fuel would have been appreciated to light the fire, we could buy this from Lawrence's on the corner but he's closed on Sundays. Also a small table and chairs in the yard would be nice . And unfortunately no hairdryer, I did search everywhere but couldn't find one. I did buy a travel hairdryer from Lawrence's who seem to sell just about everything. The house is very convenient for all the local shops, Tesco Express just around the corner, lovely bars and restaurants ,chippy within a short walk. All in all a lovely stay.

Beautiful entrance hall with excellent door mat for muddy paws and boots. We loved it had wooden floors so much easier to keep clean and very stylish. The seperate dining room was a luxury for us with having two dogs we were able to sit and eat our meals properly. The kitchen was so well equipped it felt like cooking at home. Overall a very spacious house with shed loads of character. We will certainly be returning if possible.

“In general we thought that for what we paid it was good.”

The shower needs to be looked at. It takes ages to drain the water away and it would be helpful if there was a soap and shampoo shelf or basket within the shower. The location was very good and the rooms were very spacious. The kettle should be replaced and the outside space, although it was advertised as just a bare yard, was exactly that and the back door mat needs replacing. We felt it could be made to be a super house but needs some cash throwing at it, but then the owners could charge more for it. A catch 22 situation.

“Nettie's View could do with a really deep clean.”

Place is full of cobwebs. On arrival at 9:30pm after travelling 6 hours, there was no toilet roll in the property. One single roll left to use would've been nice. We went out to the local Morrisons which was luckily open. After doing a complete shop for Christmas, we got back again to discover the fridge absolutely stank, like food had been left in there for a while to go rotten. Now, this was at this point 11:30pm. Luckily we bought some cleaning spray in Morrisons so we could give the fridge a good clean before unloading our costly Christmas shop with fresh turkey, lamb and beef. Even after cleaning the fridge, the revolting smell remained all week. The property lacked a lot of basics, a few bin bags / washing up liquid / cloths would've been good. Also was only ONE tea towel for drying up dishes. The furnishings and fittings especially upstairs were very basic. The property doesn't feel homely at all, very unwelcoming. It could really do with a redecorate in some rooms. This was supposed to be a nice break for a memorable Christmas with our two kids and also - we brang my 72 year old mum who had recently diagnosed with dementia. Felt very deflated. We all found the beds uncomfortable too.

Thank you for your feedback, I am really sorry to read your review, as this isn’t what I would want anyone to experience when they are on holiday. We have had some issues with the cleaner and have since changed the housekeeping support and in this time we have seen a marked improvement. Also following on from your feedback we have changed the bed in the main bedroom and we do understand from recent guests that this is comfortable. The report about the fridge is confusing as family had stayed there prior to your visit and there was no indication of a bad smell, in addition this was checked after your stay and we could find no sign of this, however we will continue to monitor this. “Amble is a fantastic place & so friendly.”

We booked this property last minute, mainly due to its location, the fact we could take our dogs & it was a decent price. Overall everything was good. The on street parking was fine, the property was larger than we thought it would be, it was nice and warm & the facilities were very good. But there were a couple of minuses too. The back yard could do with a decent power wash & a bit of love, and the foot pedal on the kitchen bin didn't work, so we had to lift the bin lid manually - only minor points but quite unhygienic. If you aren't intending to use the yard, & aren't too concerned about the bin, then this property is ideal for a family holiday as it's large, comfortable & near the facilities.

“This is a really lovely, spacious house in a great location in Amble.”

The downstairs is very comfortable and homely, the kitchen well-equipped, although the dishwasher was out of use and due to be replaced the day we left. As others have said, the yard is neglected and unusable; the house could do with a deep clean; the sink and shower drain unblocked in the bathroom; the vinyl floors in the kitchen and bathroom replaced and a bigger bed in the main bedroom. However the house was warm, well-equipped, spacious yet cosy and we enjoyed our stay.

“Spacious house.”

Comfy bed and sofas. Nice towells in bathroom. Plenty of on street parking. This property needs some improvements. House in need of decorating and refurbishment. Whole of house looking tired and was quite dirty. Dishwasher broken. Seems to be a long standing problem reading previous reviews. Can't unlock kitchen windows as no keys available. Shower in bathroom drains so slowly you end up standing in a puddle of soapy water. Back yard unsightly. Could do with a good tidy up. Back gate needs repairing.

The rubber seal had came off. Disappointingly it is still the same. I think everyone staying has said the same thing in that the owner is missing a trick with the yard as it let's the cottage down as it could be updated with furniture to sit in. It just looks a mess!! Other than that the cottage was spotless and an excellent base for our holiday.

“The property was tired ,I managed to repair the back gate I also had to tighten the toilet seat which was very loose the bathroom door lock needed adjusted as it was really difficult to open /close there was no key to open close windows and my son opened window and nearly fell out into the front street the dishwasher rubber seal come of when you open/close it very annoying there is no mop to clean floors we were there for 2 weeks was annoying having to use floor wipes to clean floor surfaces and the front door should have a turn key on the inside with only one key supplied it's a fire hazard we also had a racist neighbour I said good morning to her and she replied she couldn't understand me I then said it's a nice day hopefully stays like that she replied in a rude tone of voice ah you are Scottish no wonder I can't understand you Scottish are all the same I just replied to her how rude and walked away from her the property has the potential to be great the location is great plenty shops pubs restaurants etc parking no problem the back yard could do with a raised decking with a nice table and chairs and new back gates maybe some nice wall planter right now it's concrete very uninviting would I stay here again yes I would if it gets a major makeover .”

..I forgot to mention no wardrobes in any rooms and the double bed is tiny and needs upgraded to king-size or large double

“This could be an amazing property.”

Lots of space, lovely decor and very comfy bed. It would be good if there were table and chairs in the yard to be able to enjoy the outside space. It was also impossible to re-bolt the gate after putting out the rubbish so had to wedge it shut. Lack of attention to detail (cobwebs on landing ceiling) and economies on smaller items (no washing up liquid) detracted from overall impression. Despite this being one of the more expensive properties we have stayed at in Amble it is the first time ever that there wasn't a welcome pack, not even a few teabags and pint of milk to make a hot drink on arrival. Several of the above comments had already been made in the visitor guest book over recent months, but had not been addressed.

Good parking. Good smart TV. With a little tlc the cottage could be really elevated. Yard is scruffy and needs attention. Kitchen floor is worn through in one area. Shower needs a good clean and shower tray fills up when you shower. Little things really, and didn't spoil our stay but cleaning and maintenance need attention.

“Many positives, we enjoyed our stay, the place is very spacious, peaceful, and the lounge is comfortable, the wifi worked well.”

Amble itself is lovely and we were very pleased with the location. The thing that lets it down a bit is the back yard, as the previous reviewer noted, it is covered in algae and bits of insulation and grub. It was very slippy, I nearly went flying taking the rubbish out. A missed opportunity as it would be a nice little suntrap there. Couple of additional things that would have been nice too; some spare hand soap (the bottles that were there was pretty much run out, we bought some and left it for the next visitors), a starter pack for the fire and a hairdryer. Overall though the positives outweighed the negatives and we had a great time.

The following comments are not complaints but things we feel would improve the stay. There are no window keys and some of the windows are locked. This could be a serious safety issue in the event of a fire. There are no recycling bins in the kitchen so it’s not easy to recycle waste. The knives all need sharpened and there is no knife sharpener. The USB plugs in the kitchen do not work. The accuracy of back yard, patio furniture and bike storage is incorrect. The yard is covered in algae and bits of insulation. There is no table and there is no bike storage. It would be nice to have a starter pack of wood for the fire. Also there are tiny amounts of watered down hand wash in the kitchen and bathroom

Nettie's View is an attractive period stone-built cottage located in a peaceful position in the very heart of the popular fishing town of Amble.

This spacious and dog-friendly home-from-home is only a short walk away from the beach, pier, harbour, children's play area, an array of quality eateries and leisure facilities for those rainy days and is perfectly suited for both couples and families with children. Amble, also known as the friendliest port, is a small fishing town with a huge personality.

Nestled on the Northumberland coast, it's an excellent base for a holiday in our beautiful county.

Take a boat trip from the bustling harbour to Coquet Island, a RSPB nature reserve located just off the coast, and see the colourful puffins, rare roseate terns and appealing grey seals.

Back on dry land, stroll around the attractive harbour shopping pods selling bespoke and unusual gifts and why not sample the culinary delights of freshly caught seafood and local produce at The Old Boat House, La Famiglia or Jaspers all favourites. AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
