    “Been to many cottages, barns, caravans, lodges etc around the UK, but this is the first one that we have ever booked to come back to while still staying there.”

    That's how perfect it is. The village location (4x pubs, gift shops, various takeaways and coffee shops), the barn location (heron watching anyone?), the parking, the cleanliness, the facilities (the porch area and utility perfect for muddy boots and wet clothes after walking). The road to it is a little tight around the corners, but if an Amazon van and a motorhome can get there, so can you! Already looking forward to returning.

Rowan Barn is a beautiful, contemporary barn conversion located in the quaint village of Bellingham at the heart of the Northumberland countryside.

Perfect for a party of four friends or a small family, this property is an ideal base for exploring the scenic landscape that Northumberland has to offer.

Through the doors you will find a slick open-plan living, dining and kitchen area that offers everything you need for making your home cooked meals, including a fully-fitted kitchen, dining table for catching up on your days adventures and a tidy living area with a Smart TV to keep on top of all your favourite shows after a fun-filled day.

When the sun is shining, why not take the opportunity to get outside with a relaxing glass of wine or ice-cold beer on your own patio situated right next to a stream, offering lovely views and a calming atmosphere.

If you have your own bikes there is secure storage too. When sleep starts to call, upstairs you will find a delightful double and a flexible zip link twin or king size bedroom which will warmly invite you to your rest.

There is a contemporary bathroom which provides you with space to get ready for the day. If you can tear yourself away from your new abode, the village of Bellingham offers several attractions such as the local Heritage Centre, Bellingham Golf Club which is a lovely course with gorgeous views, and you can sample some local pub grub at the Rose & Crown just a short walk from your front door.

When you feel the need to explore further, you can find the Hareshaw Linn Waterfall, Eldson Castle, Minotaur Maze and the highly praised Riverside Kitchen should you get peckish on your travels.

The local town of Hexham also provides many options with its local Abbey dating back to the 12th century and The Sele which offers the perfect opportunity to let the children get stuck into the play area.

Kielder Water 7 miles; Hadrian's Wall 12 miles; Corbridge 18 miles; Hexham 19 miles.

Known as the ‘capital’ of the North Tyne Valley, this delightful town of natural stone houses nestles close to the banks of the River North Tyne. Said to be sited on a Roman station, the charming market town has much of interest, including a 12th century church, heritage centre and 30ft waterfall, just to the north. It’s also on the edge of the Northumberland National Park and is just a short drive from Hadrian’s Wall and Kielder Water and Forest. Suitable for year-round holidays, this unspoilt area with its fishing, horse riding, abundant wildlife and superb walking country is a nature lover’s dream. There is a superb golf course close by and the area has abundant historical sites, stately homes and famous gardens.
