“This is a gorgeous house, in a beautiful village.”

The house is light, airy and spacious. It's lovely and warm and inviting, with lashings of hot water for the power showers. It is beautifully decorated and furnished, although the furnishings are just beginning to show signs of the inevitable wear and tear. However, you've heard the saying 'spoil the ship for halfpence of tar'? Considering the house could easily accommodate 9 or more guests there are barely enough mugs/ cups to go around. There was one loo roll in each bathroom, the hand wash bottles had barely enough in them, and what there was had been diluted down and was from Lidl. They ask you to leave the place reasonably clean and tidy but we couldn't find a broom or brush & dustpan until we had spent a good while battling the rather odd metal cupboard; you've really got to Want to do some cleaning. The welcome pack of teabags and cookies was a nice touch. Not so sure of the other box with 3 dishwasher tabs and a scouring pad! The courtyard can in no way be described as a garden (as per the listing) but is perfectly adequate for a glass of wine and a few minutes in the fresh air. We had asked (via the Sykes call centre) for one of the bedrooms to be made up as twin beds but it was left as a double. We coped, but less flexible guests might have struggled with that. In summary: lovely house, decor, furnishings and overall cleanliness, but it was totally let down by the lack of loo rolls, mugs and watered down hand wash.
