    “Lovely cottage.”

    A lot of care and thought has obviously gone into creating such a welcoming, comfortable place to stay. It had everything we needed and more for our holiday. The only let down for us was that the boiler broke on our last evening, however the log burner came to the rescue!

    Thank you for taking the time to review Riverbank Cottage. I am so sorry the boiler was a problem and really glad the log burner came to the rescue! We had the boiler and heating re checked at the end of October and all was well then, although we have booked to replace the boiler in January. It must know! I will follow this up. Riverbank Cottage, is a charming property bursting with character.

Boasting a superb, central location, in the heart of bustling Alnmouth, Northumberland.

The ideal destination for a family holiday, the accommodation has retained several distinctive features such as feature fireplaces, wood panelling, original sash windows and wooden shutters, which all add up to create an authentic and welcoming ambience.

The sitting area is wonderfully inviting with lots of seating arranged in front of the log burner, somewhere you can imagine guests gathering to get warm and socialise together, enjoying stunning views of the estuary.

The small but perfectly formed kitchen has everything needed to produce great food for the whole family and when it’s ready to serve up, the large, rustic dining table is just waiting for guests to pull up a chair and look forward to long, leisurely meals together.

At bedtime, guests can choose from two pleasant bedrooms which are both delightful and a joy to spend time in and recharge the batteries.

There is an attractive patio area where you can sit and enjoy a a morning coffee and plan the day’s activities, whilst enjoying spectacular views over the River. Alnmouth is on the doorstep which includes a good selection of shops, eateries, a golf course, and miles of sandy beaches.

Jump in the car for visits to the scenic town of Alnwick, famous for its castle and gardens, or drive a little further to attractions such as Hadrian’s Wall, Howick Hall and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle and Northumberland Country Zoo.

Take a boat trip over to the Farne Islands where you might catch sight of an unusual bird or seal.

If you love wildlife, then you’ve come to the right place with RSPB reserves at Annstead Dunes and Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre.

With superb views and authentic accommodation boasting loads of charm and character, Riverbank Cottage promises guests an enjoyable holiday. Please note: There is no parking at the property, but the neighbours are happy with guests loading and unloading their car on arrival and departure.

The parking is on the main street, a short walk from the property.

Alnwick 4 miles.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants.
