“We had a lovely week at Kizzies Cottage.”

It’s spacious and bright. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is huge. It has everything you need so very well equipped. The air fryer was very useful. As others have said the fridge is quite small so only bring essentials then buy as you need. Dog friendly but not allowed dogs on the sofa or bed ( bedding is white) and no throws but we had brought our own as particularly the sofa it was difficult to keep them off that as they go on ours at home.The garden is huge and enclosed with the ...

It’s spacious and bright. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is huge. It has everything you need so very well equipped. The air fryer was very useful. As others have said the fridge is quite small so only bring essentials then buy as you need. Dog friendly but not allowed dogs on the sofa or bed ( bedding is white) and no throws but we had brought our own as particularly the sofa it was difficult to keep them off that as they go on ours at home.The garden is huge and enclosed with the exception of you had a really tiny dog like a chihuahua then there are spots at the back where they could get under. But most dogs will be completely safe. 10/10 and definitely would revisit. It’s a bit remote you can’t walk out in the road with your dog as there are no pavements and they are too narrow but both Warkworth and Amble are less than 15 minutes by car. Northumberland Arms nearby is dog friendly and does fabulous food. Jaspers in amble is fine dining and dog friendly too. Most places are dog friendly. Cottage owners are lovely and very helpful. Peaceful delightful setting and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It's hard to explain to guests just how wonderful the beaches are, they are so vast, stretching for miles, so I'm glad you and your dog got to enjoy those. Personally, I do walk my dog around the roads next to the cottage as the roads are so very quiet here, but I agree with you when you say you really can't beat those beaches! We do have throws for the dogs, so I'm sorry that you missed them. This information is too late for you, but for future guests who may be considering staying with us you can find the dog throws on the shelf in the bedroom, just to the left of the door! Finally, I'm not aware of any gaps in our fencing, even for a chihuahua! So thank you for highlighting this, we will definitely take a look at that and ensure that any gaps are repaired straightaway. “The accommodation is very comfortable and has everything you need.”

The towels and bedding are all good quality. The heating is quick to respond and warm up the property if needed. The rear garden is fully enclosed to waist height and is pebbled so no mess gets in the cottage from dog's paws but it doesn't make it the prettiest area to sit out in. However, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet and all the varied bird life in the surrounding trees. If I could change one thing it would be the flooring in the sitting room. The room is the first one you enter from the front door and with the pale ceramic tiles, it does feel a bit like sitting in an entrance hall. A warm wood floor would be cosier. It's a great location for visiting local attractions such as Craster, Dunstanburgh Castle, Cragside, Alnwick and Amble, and Warkworth is walkable at 3.5 miles each way. Eating out wise, we really enjoyed the Lal Khazana restaurant in Shilbottle, and Masons in Warkworth.

Hi Fiona, thanks for your feedback. We're delighted to hear you had a good stay at Kizzie's cottage and found the place to be comfortable with with everything you need. The living rooms flooring is as advertised on our promotional photographs. It's intentionally tiles rather than wooden flooring as many of our guests have dogs with them and their paws don't always like wooden flooring. The tiling also makes sure we can keep the place really clean and fresh as its much easier to maintain than wood. For that cosy feeling we have a good sized rug and a log burner which our guests really appreciate on those winter nights. Property Owner

“We had a wonderful stay at Kitsy Cottage and can highly recommend it.”

For us, it was the perfect base to explore the Northumberland coastline, with fantastic beaches and coastal walks all within roughly 15–40 minutes driving distance. Every day we discovered a different beach and part of the coast, which made the whole trip really special. The cottage itself is extremely well equipped and very thoughtfully prepared. Everything you could possibly need is there, including a fully fitted kitchen which made it easy to cook and relax after long days out. We especially appreciated how dog-friendly the cottage was — even including dog treats on arrival — and the enclosed garden was ideal for our Springer Spaniel. The location is peaceful, rural and beautifully fits into the surrounding countryside. The small cluster of traditional stone cottages has a lovely atmosphere and feels very authentic to the area. Everything was very clean, well maintained and comfortable throughout our stay. For me and my daughter, this was the ideal place to unwind after exploring the beaches and coastline all day. It was calm, relaxing and felt like a proper escape. We absolutely loved staying here and would happily return again.

“A fantastic property that is well set up with all the things that you would need for a stay.”

The kitchen has a raft of utensils , only thing is the fridge/freezer is a little on the small side. the living room is well set out . A very comfy bed which is always a definite benefit. A very large bathroom with both a shower & bath . outside there is a large enclosed garden which is as described (i have 2 terrier dogs who had no chance of escape ) so they thoroughly enjoyed the freedom . The location allows a short drive to some dog friendly beaches.

“Kizzies cottage was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need.”

The styling was beautiful and certainly to my taste, I could have lived there. The garden was great and my little dog was safe to wander around without me worrying about him escaping. The bed and pillows were probably the most comfy we've ever had in a cottage. The location was a little rural but in amongst a beautiful hamlet of stone cottages and was so peaceful. We were only 5 miles from Alnwick where there were plenty of supermarkets and just 3 miles from Amble in the coast. There were plenty of gorgeous unspoilt beaches to go on and most were dog friendly. I would recommend Kizzies cottage without hesitation.

“Really comfortable and well equipped cottage.”

Very quiet rural location and good sized, secure gardens back and front. My only suggestion for improvement is there could be a sign in the kitchen warning of the Butler tap. I had not mentioned it to my wife and she scalded her hand, slightly trying to wash it under the tap when we first arrived!

“Enjoyable week in Northumberland enhanced by knowing each evening we were returning to a well appointed and very comfortable ‘cozy ‘ cottage in the countryside.”

The fenced garden was great as we could let our 2 dogs out without having to worry about them. The king sized bed was very comfortable and a great nights sleep guaranteed. There is nothing regarding the cottage we could fault.

“We loved the location of the cottage, it was clean and the bathroom was lovely.”

However, we found the living room was quite dark and not inviting to sit in with just one sofa facing the TV. The kitchen was OK but a shortage of cutlery and bowls in particular meant the dishwasher was on daily. The outdoor space was geared for dogs rather than pleasant sitting. The chairs in the back yard are excellent !!

Hello, thank you for visiting us and for taking the time to share your feedback with us. The layout of the living room is somewhat restricted by the construction of the building to the formatting we have chosen, and thankfully most people comment on how pleasant and ambient it is, I'm sorry that for you it didn't work. The kitchen is often mentioned in feedback as being very well stocked and full of amenities but the cottage does only sleep two people so there are four sets of everything which is usually enough. Thankfully as you say there is an integrated dishwasher for you to use and there unlimited dishwasher tablets for supplied so I really hope it didn't cause you too much inconvenience. I'm very glad you loved the bathroom, it's a good size and it comes with ornamental ducks! What's not to like about ornamental ducks! Thanks for visiting, we really do appreciate your custom. It was very comfortable and they had thought of everything you might need, including a bottle of wine, biscuits and crisps. The cottage was very spacious with ample room for us all. The washing machine was useful plus there was an airer and pegs if the weather was good. The outside space was lovely, with a large enclosed back garden with table and chairs. Lots of room for the dogs. Also, an enclosed front garden, with table and chairs. Would recommend anyone to stay here.

“We loved the cottage.”

Comfortable furniture, beautifully decorated, almost everything we needed! 2 possible improvements? We really struggled with the locks, especially on the back door. In fact I never mastered them, but luckily my husband did! Secondly, 3 teaspoons? As a retired teacher, I do remember how often they disappeared from various staffroom, but a few more would be good?

“We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay 27th to 31st May.”

On arrival the staff made themselves known to us and were extremely friendly. The cottage catered for our every need, was very comfortable for sleeping and sitting in the lounge. The kitchen was fully equipped. In the garden, we enjoyed privacy and peace and quiet with our two Retriever dogs. The surrounding area has everything you'd expect in a full rural retreat. “The cottage is very stylish, spacious and well equipped - everything you need and more.”

The location is perfect if you like to be away from it all for total relaxation. Rural setting but only a short drive to Warkworth and Amble and from there the whole of the coastal route. The property has a huge enclosed garden area for dogs. We were also met with a much appreciated bottle of wine and we were kept well informed by Ali of key information, etc. Three nights is not long enough though!

“The cottage was clean and comfortable.”

There was everything you required. It was like being at home..open a drawer or cupboard and whatever you wanted was there. The furniture and decor was to a high standard with lots of little finishing touches. The gardens were ideal for our 2 dogs. They loved investigating. It was fenced off so safe. The location was peaceful, no.pubs or shops nearby but we were fine with that.. We saw lovely birds,deers and other wildlife. The owner also text us on arrival to say the cottage was ready if we wanted to go earlier. She also messaged early week to check all was OK. Overall we had a fabulous week.The cottage was in prime location to travel and visit the lovely beaches with our dogs. I would certainly recommend the cottage and would certainly go back again

“What a lovely stay it was at Kizzie Cottage .”

I wanted to write in visitors book but unfortunately did not have a pen ! We have had the most amazing time at Kizzie Cottage for our 20th Wedding Anniversary! We loved how spacious and clean, comfortable and well decorated it is. Some of features were also wonderful, including the log burner, big bathroom and king size bed. I have to say what we loved most of all, was sitting in the garden, listening to the birds! Our two cocker spaniels had so much pleasure wondering around the garden, taking in the views. We visited Swarland, Amble and Drudridge Bay which all were lovely, the drive to get to the destinations were so tranquil and picturesque! What we loved most about the stay was staying in the most comfortable cottage in such a quiet and scheduled area. What a hidden little gem ! Also thank you the Malbec wine, crisps and cookies which all went down well! We are going to re-book again and stay in the winter! Kind regards Julie Gutteridge.

“We had a delightful stay celebrating a birthday at Kizzie Cottage!”

Everything about the property said … “quality or luxury”. There were some lovely little touches like the welcome pack in the kitchen as well as complimentary dog treats. The log burner was awesome, it could heat the entire hamlet! The bed was one of the most comfortable we’d ever slept in, and the bath was fabulous. Our dog enjoyed sniffing around the large fully enclosed garden and the peace and tranquillity, of the woods behind was wonderful. We met both Ali and her partner during our stay, and they were so helpful and friendly. We will definitely return at some point, and would also have no hesitation in recommending Kizzie Cottage to other couples with dogs who would like to stay in tranquil Northumbrian surroundings.

“Lovely cottage in a perfect location for visiting Northumbria, very well stocked with everything that is required, and more for a perfect getaway.”

Just needs some attention to the grounds ie weeds and potted plants, green paths. Also many cobwebs in rafters that we attacked on a stool with the hoover. A long pole required. Anybody over 6ft in height needs to watch out for the shelf across the bedroom entrance at head height, i hit my head twice, forgetting to duck when exiting the room. Otherwise fantasticlly appointed cottage and wouldnt hesitate to recommend.

We are blessed indeed that Kizzies Cottage abuts a most wonderful forest which is teeming with wildlife. As our guests enjoy the substantial outdoor space they report seeing woodpeckers, some spectacular and very busy blue tits, squirrels, hedgehogs, field mice and our friends, the spiders which are so important to our eco-system. Thankfully in a countryside property like this one cobwebs aren't an indicator of cleanliness, but of course we recognise despite this they aren't always welcome so we'll continue to try harder to reach up to the eaves. “The cottage was spacious and cosy and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay.”

The spacious garden was lovely to star gaze on a clear night of which there are lots due to low light pollution. Recommend visits to Warkworth town which is very pretty and also Warkworth beach which is immaculate. From here, we took in walks to Almouth Beach and Amble Harbour. Worth noting this property is part of a small complex which isn't reflected in the photos, although pretty and peaceful. Overall we had a lovely and relaxing stay. Thanks to Ali for her help during our stay with a couple of issues, much appreciated. The property was pretty simple to find from our sat nav. Sykes directions weren't clear enough.

The properties are surrounded by an extensive wooded area. Kizzie's garden is very large, entirely enclosed and ideal for dogs. It looks out over a vast treed area teeming with wildlife. “We really enjoyed our Autumn stay at Kizzie Cottage.”

It is located in a secluded area but only 4 miles to the coast (Warkworth). The cottage was just as the photos showed with lots of extras provided by the owners. The very large dog friendly garden was an added bonus. It was our first stay in Northumberland and we visited many castles, NT properties and did long walks on the dog friendly beaches. We also tried the local recommended eateries. We will definitely book again if we plan another trip up North. Alison and Richard

“Kizzies cottage is a lovely place to stay.”

The enclosed back is ideal for pets. The owners are lovely friendly people to deal with. The cottage is handy to travel to such places as Bamburgh and Seahouses. Be aware that access to Bamburgh castle is up steps and to the beach through sand dunes so anyone with a walking problem (like my husband) will have difficulty. We met the agents husband Tony who was very friendly and it is nice to know that he and Ali live nearby. There was also a very nice welcome package left for us. For people also with walking difficulties it is a bit of a walk from the parking space to the cottage, but we managed. There is also a deep step down from the shower, but all in all we had a fabulous week there and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

“Gorgeous little cottage, just perfect for us and our little pooch!”

It has everything you need to self cater, the enclosed front and back gardens were fabulous for our little yorkie Poppins. She loved finding sticks for us to play! The cottage is set in a peaceful quiet little hamlet just a stones throw away from all towns and amenities, so it’s perfect for a chilled out break away, or for sight seeing local areas and attractions. We’ve been to northumberland many times and this is definitely our favourite location and cottage. The owners were so helpful, and informative for anything you need while on hols, there’s info all over the cottage as well as helpful emails prior to arrival. The cottage manager was very approachable and helpful and answered messages promptly, and also kept in touch during our stay. The cottage has comfy beds, sofa, fabulous bathroom with bath and shower, great kitchen with all appliances, and the outside patio area is lovely looking into a wooded area, just peace and quiet at its best!!! We slept great every night!! Thanks to the new owners the cottage is now at its best again!! We will definitely be visiting again!

“Kizzie cottage was perfect.”

We have stayed in a quite a few cottages in the past, Kizzie was right up there with the best for us and our dog (Quill). Although it only sleeps 2 it's very spacious with a large outside space for us too relax and where we spent hours watching the different birds on the bird feeder. It was a perfect base to explore everything Northumberland has to offer. Cragside and Wallington are 2 great National Trust places to visit, lovely gardens and walks. The beaches at Alnmouth, Warkworth, Bamburgh are beautiful and perfect for an energetic dog. I recommend the Fish and Chips at the Harbour chippy in Amble, make sure you're hungry very large potions. Hope to be back soon.

A pretty, detached, stone-built, single-storey cottage, located in the grounds of Bank House, Guyzance near Warkworth, Northumberland.

Finished to a high standard throughout, this bright and airy cottage offers character and charm and is an ideal base for a couple wishing to explore the delights of the Heritage Coastline and the surrounding area.

The charming sitting room has a large window with views to the front and an l-shaped sofa; a wonderful spot to relax and put your feet up in front of the TV and woodburning stove, with starter pack kindly provided by the owners.

Despite its rural location, Kizzie Cottage offers full-fibre internet for multiple devices so browsing and home working couldn’t be easier!

The well-equipped kitchen and dining area have all the essentials for serving up a great Northumberland meal and the door from the kitchen leads to a lovely patio area and lawned garden, a sunny spot to relax with friends and enjoy an alfresco meal.

WARKWORTH

Alnwick 5 miles; Alnmouth 3 miles; Amble 1 mile.

Lying in the loop of the River Coquet on the Heritage Coast, Warkworth is a picturesque village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The history of the village and the castle are intertwined with the Percy Family who took over the castle in 1332. The Percys’ other home is nearby Alnwick Castle, most recently associated with Harry Potter as the film location of Hogwarts School. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antiques shops, a village shop/Post Office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole pay and play golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.
