“We loved our stay at The Mustard Pot.”

The house is a good size, well furnished, very quiet, and has a big dog friendly garden. We had 2 dogs with 2 crates but there was plenty of room to fit these in. There were 4 large car parking spaces for the cottage, 2 at the front door and 2 about a 30 second walk from the house. The location was perfect. We found good dog walks from the house (one to Morwick Dairy for human and dog ice cream), but also took the dogs to the beach which is about 10 minutes away by car. There is also a nice ...

We found good dog walks from the house (one to Morwick Dairy for human and dog ice cream), but also took the dogs to the beach which is about 10 minutes away by car. There is also a nice country park about 10 minutes away by car. The house is very close to Warkworth, Amble and Alnwick but we also ventured further away to Morpeth, Holy Island, Bamburgh, and Craster which has a lovely coastal walk to the castle and beach. We used the cooker, washing machine and dishwasher which worked well, but we mostly ate out. There are plenty of dog friendly pubs and restaurants near by, just make sure you book. If visiting the area again, we would definitely stay at this house.

The property

Located on an idyllic farm steading in Acklington, a few miles from Warkworth, Northumberland, The Mustard Pot is a charming barn conversion which is the ideal holiday destination for a family or small gathering of family and friends.

The welcoming living space sets the tone for the rest of the property with ample seating arranged in front of a delightful woodburning stove and French doors leading outside, helping to bring the outside in and letting lots of light flood in.

You can imagine spending many happy hours here chilling out and catching up on each other’s holiday news.

When it’s time to start cooking for your holiday party, you will be impressed by the spacious kitchen which is fully fitted with everything the designated chef needs.

The attractive breakfast island is the perfect spot for guests to pull up a stool, pour themselves a drink and keep the chef company, and when it’s time to serve up, you can eat informally at the breakfast island or step into the dining area which has a rustic dining table and chairs all ready to welcome guests for long, leisurely meals together.

Outside, there are extensive gardens to the rear which offer beautiful views over open countryside and with an enclosed section, give children (and pets!) the opportunity to run around safely while the grown-ups can pull up a chair on the patio and relax, enjoying time alfresco.

When it’s time for bed, guests can choose from three well-appointed bedrooms, two super-king-sizes and a single.

All are bright and airy and come with TVs, so you needn’t miss out on your favourite telly and is the perfect chance to chill out away from the hustle and bustle of the main house.

With country walks aplenty on the doorstep and just a few miles away, is the pretty village of Warkworth which is known for being home of the dramatic ruins of a 12th century castle.

Its link to the past continues with the village’s selection of antique shops and galleries and it also has a beach and a golf course.

Attractions in the area worth visiting include Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands and Alnwick Gardens.

Other beaches nearby worth packing a bucket and spade for include Alnmouth, Cresswell, Embleton and Newton Haven.

Whatever time of year, a holiday at The Mustard Pot offers a rural retreat to treasure forever.
