“From the moment we walked in we were delighted with this property.”

It is spotlessly clean and maintained to the highest standard as well as being tastefully furnished. There is a super-king sized bed (two singles put together) in one room, a double in the second and a single bed with a bedside cabinet in the third room. Both the main rooms have wardrobes and drawers - the single room is too small for that. The curtains are good quality black out curtains so we weren't bothered by light coming in, nor were we disturbed by noise from the street. The matress ...

The matress in the super king room didn't appear to be be super high quality but they were comfortable - and we are fussy! The mattress in the double room was good quality, but we did need to turn it so it wasn't sloping to the sides. The pillows and bedding were all lovely and soft as were the towels, which were white and fluffy. The bath and shower are great and there is plenty of hot water. The heating controls are super easy, unlike some other places we have stayed, although the boiler - in the superking room - is a bit noisy, so take ear plugs if you don't want to be woken by it coming on in the morning! Downstairs, everything is hard wood flooring throughout (I think Karndean) and there is a leather corner sofa and two fabric arm chairs. All of the chairs are comfy to sit in and clean. I have allergies to animals and this property allows dogs, but I didn't experience any issues at all. The woodburning stove is one of the best we have experienced - very easy to light with plenty of space for logs. The TV is on an extendable arm so you can angle it any way you like and, again, was easy to use and had Sky and Netflix as well as all the usual terrestrial channels. The little courtyard is accessed by patio doors and is beautifully maintained, with a table and chairs and BBQ. The kitchen has everything you could want. There is a fridge freezer with three freezer drawers and induction hob and a microwave - and a caffetier and a coffee pod machine. We were welcomed by a wonderful welcome basket with wine, cake, biscuits and tea bags. There were some coffee pods, enough logs for a fire, washing up liquid and enough dishwasher tablets to last a couple of days. There was easy access from the street the house was in, through a lane to the little bay area, just next to the harbour so we were literally two minutes away from the sea. I almost don't want to publish this review because some things are so good you want to keep them to yourselves ...... This place isn't thrown together to be 'good enough'. We remarked that we were more comfortable there than in some luxury hotels we have stayed in.

The property

This fantastic terraced cottage is set in a very popular area of Amble, just two minutes’ walk to the coast.

Beautifully presented, this contemporary cottage exudes a peace and calm with its well thought out interior; the owner has used pastel shades to create this tranquil oasis and the overall effect is one of quality and taste.

The bedrooms will delight even the lightest sleepers with their comfortable mattresses and co-ordinating throws and cushions.

The open plan ground floor has a corner sofa, woodburner and a spacious dining area, whilst the adjoining kitchen has all you need to prepare and deliver a gourmet Northumberland supper.

The space at the rear of the cottage is compact but perfect to allow pets and children out for a breath of fresh air.

Amble harbour is just a five minute stroll away and offers a wide selection of pubs, restaurants and takeaways all serving good food and beverages.

Why not take a walk along the banks of the Coquet towards Warkworth, here you can grab a bite to eat or enjoy a good rustle through the art and gift shops?

A short drive from Amble will take you to the charming villages of Craster and Alnmouth, or perhaps spend a day in the popular market town of Alnwick with its famous gardens and ancient castle.

If you can bear to leave the delights of the area behind, why not take a trip to Berwick-upon-Tweed, Holy Island, Hadrian's Wall or Rothbury, the delights of this ancient county are just waiting to be discovered.

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
