Don’t overlook wiping down all skirting boards, even the ones concealed behind furniture, and getting rid of cobwebs in difficult-to-reach places like window frames and ceiling beams. Furthermore, it’s crucial to clean both the inside and outside of your windows and inspect for any leaks. Lastly, if you allow pets in your residence, it’s a good time to steam clean your carpets and soft furnishings.

As you prepare for the upcoming Summer season ahead, it’s important to review your inventory and replace any damaged or missing glassware or crockery, it may also be helpful to purchase additional pieces. We suggest opting for simple white crockery and classic glassware, as it’s easier to replace in case of any accidents.

First impressions really do count, holiday homes looks welcoming when everything on the outside is as good as the inside.

Give your patio a regular sweep and a power wash if required, keep all garden furniture clean, and plant a few fresh flowers. Clear out any dead plants in hanging baskets, maintain any hedge and mow the lawn. (You may require to use a local gardener for the regular upkeep).

If your garden has a decked area, make sure it’s always clean and re-paint if required. Hot tubs will need a clean and service, making sure they are fully functional ready for every guests stay.

Sofas, beds and cushions

To ensure maximum comfort for your guests, it’s important to check that all sofa cushions, armchairs, and pillows are plump and cosy. If any appear worn or flattened, it may be time to replace them. Additionally, take a moment to inspect the quality and ‘bounceback’ of your bedding and mattresses. For pet-friendly properties, it’s a good idea to replace any tired-looking dog beds to ensure your furry guests have a comfortable stay.

Take the time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, and test them to ensure they are working properly. Additionally, it’s important to check the functionality of security alarms and electric gates on your property.

Renew your certificates

As a responsible homeowner, it is important to renew your insurance policies, gas safety certificates, and fire risk assessments on an annual basis. Spring cleaning provides an ideal opportunity to review your paperwork and ensure that all expiry dates are up-to-date. Additionally, it is recommended to double-check your personal details to avoid any potential issues that could invalidate your policies.

Tourist information, and user manuals.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, guest welcome folders have not been available in recent years. Now that they have returned to holiday properties, it is essential to check that all the information in your welcome folder is accurate and up-to-date. Please remove any outdated leaflets or discount vouchers and replace them with new ones for the upcoming season. Additionally, make sure to renew any user manuals that may have become obsolete with the replacement of your appliances, such as a new TV.
