    “The Bolthole was in a very quiet, rural and remote location, which was very much to our liking.”

    However, it did involve a fair bit of driving for sight-seeing and grocery shopping. Inside, the cottage, a converted farm building, was a bit quirky, but well laid out and well provisioned and very comfortable.

The Bolthole is a charming cottage converted from 19th century farm buildings set in stunning open countryside.

It has wonderful views and is located in an Area of High Landscape Value.

It is 20 minutes from Alnwick and the Heritage coastline is 40 minutes drive away.

The area is perfect for serious walkers and strollers alike with the Cheviot Hills to the east.

If you are a history fan, there are more historic castles close by than anywhere else in the country. GROUND FLOOR Living room with TV/DVD and electric stove heater.

Kitchen/dining room with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. FIRST FLOOR Bedroom 1 with double bed, en suite shower, WC and basin. Bedroom 2 with double bed, TV and folding bed. Bathroom with bath, over shower, WC and basin.

About the location

EGLINGHAM

Alnwick 7 miles.

The pretty village of Eglingham sits on a country road between Alnwick and Chillingham, and with its stone houses, lovely gardens, stream and wooded areas, it makes a lovely spot to visit. There is a fine Victorian church in the village, a large pub and also a good restaurant. The surroundings are ideal for those wishing to get away from it all – you may see the heron grace the Eglingham burn, or just relax and take in the views and incredibly wide skies of the area. Within easy reach are the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands, the castles at Dunstanburgh, Warkworth, Chillingham and of course Alnwick, with its spectacular Garden next door.
