Description

Corner House is a good house perfectly scaled for couples and pairs pursuing a countryside hideaway, situated in Wark, Northumberland. The accommodation spans two bedrooms—a king-size and a single—with a dedicated sitting room warmed by a woodburning stove creating an intimate retreat during evening hours. The shower room combines a walk-in shower, basin, and WC for straightforward practicality.

The property's greatest asset lies in its village-centre location where local shop and pub facilities sit practically on your doorstep, meaning you'll never struggle to source supplies or enjoy a night out. Central heating runs throughout, keeping the house warm whatever the season, and roadside parking provides straightforward vehicle storage. Beyond the threshold, an enclosed garden and furnished patio extends your living space—an ideal setting for dawn coffee or dusk relaxation beneath open skies.

The North Tyne valley frames your base wonderfully. Hexham, within easy driving distance, reveals its landmark medieval abbey alongside independent boutiques, galleries, and riverside character that draws discerning visitors seeking authentic market-town atmosphere. Corbridge similarly enchants with its Roman archaeological heritage preserved at Corstopitum, plus charming streets hosting antique shops, galleries, and welcoming cafés suited to leisurely exploration by two. For those drawn to outdoor drama, Hadrian's Wall presents itself nearby—this UNESCO-protected monument offers accessible trails suiting all abilities, from gentle riverside rambles to demanding ridge traverses commanding panoramic Pennine views.

Whether your journey centres on historical discovery, natural landscape, quiet togetherness, or a blend of all three, Corner House stands ready to anchor an unforgettable Northumbrian escape with straightforward comfort and character in abundance.

Lovely homely house.

Beautifully presented. Well equipped and spotlessly clean. Modern bathroom and comfy bed. Wark is a friendly village with walks on the door step. Well stocked village shop and comuinity run pub . We had a maintenance issue which the owner resolved quickly. Nice area with plenty of places to visit. Small courtyard enclosed garden and on road parking. Enjoyed our stay.

A stunning house in a stunning location.

The house is beautifully furnished, very comfortable and well set out. It has a wonderful walk in shower. The small back patio area is lovely, our little shitzu spent most of his time outside!!!! It has a gate leading to a side road for easy parking! We stayed a week but could have stayed longer. The village of Wark is small but stunning, beautiful walks across the bridge, with amazing views. It has a One stop shop for essentials, an amazing Hotel, restaurant/bar, plus another pub straight across the road from the property. The locals very friendly and helpful. Its a great location for exploring the area. We loved Hexham with its Abby. Keilder water/forest is a must see. Corbridge is also amazing with its Roman fort/museum, although dogs not allowed in the museum! We even ventured to Whitley Bay, only 1 hour 10 mins away, with its beautiful long promenade. We would certainly stay in Wark at the Corner House again

Every now and then you stumble across an absolute gem.

In this case, for us, it was the Corner House in Wark, Northumberland. Freshly modernised and offering all the comforts needed, along with some very nice personal touches making it a “home from home” and a great base for visiting the numerous Northumberland attractions. Corner House is ideally located in Wark and is within a short stroll of the well-stocked Premier mini market, The welcoming Grey Bull community pub, the absolute delightful Café 1897, exquisite Battlesteads Restaurant and Pub and the highly entertaining Sky Observatory. Wark caters well for walkers and dog owners without the need for transport. Also, being so central there are many attractions within easy reach including Hadrian’s Wall, Bellingham, Northumberland National Park, Kielderhead, Scottish Borders, Hexham, Alnwick castle, Lindisfarne (Holy Island) and Bamburgh to name but a few. We absolutely enjoyed Corner House and look forward to returning shortly for another stay
