Moorgair Cottage

This property was an absolute Fabulous find.

Everything we hoped it would be - and in such a quiet and peaceful location. Couldn’t have asked for more - and with such a lovely host in Gordon too.

Lovely warm cosy, spotlessly clean comfy cottage.

Good position for seeing around Northhumberland. Nice views, quiet, great to listen to the birds singing during the day and the owl in the night. Visit the Roman museums and the Beamish museum is brilliant.

Clean comfortable cottage in a great location.

Lots of local information which was useful. Friendly host.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Moorgair Cottage, it was the perfect base to explore Northumberland and all it had to offer.

Enjoyed watching the birds out the window with our morning coffee

We spent a week here including Christmas day.

The cottage looked lovely and festive on arrival and had a cute Christmas tree and little bits of decorations everywhere. The cottage was clean and had absolutely everything you could need or want. Whilst the cottage is compact, with patience you can happily manage to make a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings for five people and whack up a good buffet. Gordon was lovely and hospitable and made it was clear he was on hand if needed. We lead very full busy lives, so this was a fabulous way to unwind and spend our christmas break. We really hope to visit again soon. Thankyou Gordon

Perfect cottage, Everything you could need.

Cosy Woodburner for chilli evenings. Loved watching the birds at the feeder. Lovely and peaceful area and plenty to visit. Thank-you for a perfect holiday.

This was a lovely country cottage, full of charm and in beautiful surroundings.

The kitchen is well equipped with an oven and hob, microwave, toaster and sandwich maker and Hexham is blessed with a Lidls, Tesco Extra and Waitrose! Beds are comfortable and the area is exceptionally quiet at night. We did use the central heating as the evenings and early mornings were cool and this proved to be very effective at taking the chill off the property. You do need a car but there are lots of places to visit with 30 minutes, Hexham Abbey and Gaol, Hadrian's Wall, Corbridge, Derwent Reservoir and various castles. It is a rural area so Internet was occasionally spotty but that didn't detract from our holiday.

Very comfortable and a perfect location.

Excellent local pubs and restaurants.

Wonderful stay.

A beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful and very comfortable and cosy. A lot to see in the area. Thank-you Gordon and Catherine for being perfect hosts.

Cosy clean cottage in a beautiful place

A beautiful cottage spotless & everything you need & more.

Well situated for lovely walks would well recommend.

Lovely cottage with everything you needed for your stay.

Great location for travelling around. Would highly recommended staying here I’m very sure we will be back.

Stunning cottage with everything we could ask for.

Stayed over Christmas and Moorgair had been beautifully decorated with Christmas tree and lights all around. Comfortable beds, warm house and very clean. Thank you for a fab holiday.

We had a lovely stay.

Set in lovely countryside with lots to do. The owners were lovely were there if you need them.

Very nice and welcoming nice place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay.

Cottage was incredibly clean and in a lovely location.

Had a wonderful stay it was so cosy and well equipped we wanted for nothing and would happily stay again.

Hopefully we'll be back in the spring to explore more of the area which is outstanding . Eileen Don and Maureen.

A lovely, clean and comfortable cottage in a beautiful location.

Highly recommended for a relaxing break but also has local amenities close by.

Moorgair Cottage is very comfortable and the owners were quick to help when we had a problem with the heating.

The cottage is well located for visiting Hadrian's Wall and other scenic attractions. We had a great week and would certainly recommend it to others.

Nice cottage but we found the kitchen area too small and there wasn’t an empty cupboard for us to store our own food, fridge freezer also quite small and had to use the freezer in the outhouse.

Shower over the bath is. It ideal for myself as I am only small and I feared falling as getting out of the bath. One night there was a lot of noise from the owners next door and my partner couldn’t get to sleep.

We needed a quiet holiday, and we certainly had that at Moorgair Cottage.

It is a lovely cottage at the top of the Moor, with stunning views of the local countryside. The cottage is small but very well appointed, and has everything you could possibly need. The lounge area was very comfortable, as where the beds. Having somewhere as comfortable as this to chill and relax was just what we needed.- and add to that Gordon's invitation for us to go in the field and meet the Alpacas was just a beautiful memory. Thank you. We'd love to visit again one day.

Really lovely cottage.

It was very clean and everything you could need including extra blankets and towels, toys, games and a good selection of books. The owners were great and on hand for any issues and went above and beyond letting my children pet and feed the alpacas. The only slight gripe we had was how firm the double bed was but everything else was spot on. We will miss waking up to those views and the sheep! Thank you for a great stay.

The property was brilliant, very comfy and quiet with great noises from the alpacas.

Shame they were not closer (photos are a bit misleading). Bird feeder right outside the window provided hours of entertainment. Husband saw a kestrel. no photos of the bathroom (which was a fine bathroom so not sure why not). Floor and table were strangely a bit sticky (not a real problem) but owner was fantastically friendly and helpful with issues with TV (though wife was a little curt). Altogether, a really lovely stay and we really enjoyed it. the sofas and bed were very comfy and the property cosy, I think it would still be warm in winter with the fire and central heating. Great base for the surrounding area - the Wall, Newcastle and Beamish Living museum.

We had a very comfortable stay here.

Enjoyed our week.

Friendly welcome with biscuits and milk.

Kitchen well equipped. Comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water. Masses of tourist information, DVDs and books plus a tricky jigsaw we completed! Cottage on a working farm with lovely setting, views from windows of fields with sheep and lambs. Village nearby with community shop and community pub. Ideal situation for exploring the area or just staying in for a rest.

Lovely comfortable cottage in beautiful surroundings.

Friendly helpful owners.

We had lovely week and would rent this property again, the owners are at hand if needed but stay away unless you contact them.

The property was good for location and condition.

Moorgair is without doubt the cleanest cottage we have ever stayed in.

It had everything we needed for the stay which was enhanced by the living room being decorated for our Christmas stay with a tree and decorations. A lovely touch. The cottage is lovely and remote a little over a mile from the small village with it's excellent community run shop. The cottage and area is perfect for a escape to the country getaway. Lovely quick to warm up central heating which was essential in mid-winter given the cottage sits at around 200m above the Tyne Valley. And there was a log burner too. The owner brought a basket of logs each day without us asking for this. All in all we couldn't fault it not even as we had picked a week to stay of volatile weather with heavy rain and gales blowing each day, the wind adding to that get away feeling, but we were cosy in the cottage. A lovely experience which we'd like to repeat in springtime to enjoy the many forest walks and abundant wildlife here.

Comfortable cottage, A couple of problems occurred but these were solved very quickly by the owner who was friendly and couldn't have been more helpful.

Very comfortable in lovely location.

Everything needed provided! Would definitely return.

Lovely place to stay.

The cottage is extremely comfortable and the surroundings beautiful and peaceful. Its owner is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay a lot.

We had a lovely week here, the cottage was exceptionally clean and well stocked.

Very comfortable and a very quiet area. My only comments would be that the windows are very stiff to shut and that the listing gives the impression the alpacas/sheep are visible from the cottage, this wasn’t our experience but maybe they move fields. Owners next door but we only saw them once so very private. Very helpful and friendly people though. Lovely village shop and nice food in village pub 1.5miles away. Loads of wildlife, we saw bats, hares and heard owls.

A fantastic cottage tucked away I the beautiful Northumberland countryside.

If you want a nice quiet place to stay and explore this is it. Gordon is a fantastic host and nothing is any bother. The Alpacas are brilliant too.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay at Moorgair Cottage.

The cottage itself was very clean and tidy when we arrived. It was very homely and in a lovely location. Nearby Slaley village is within walking distance with a nice pub and shop, and it is a great place to use as a base to reach the highlights of Northumberland. Gordon was very busy with the Lambing season but still took the time to come and have a chat to make sure we were all alright. I would highly recommend this place

We had a great week at the cottage.

It was warm and cosy very well equipped. The owners next door were very helpful and considerate. We would definitely return.

A very pleasant stay in a friendly atmosphere.

The owners are handy but in no way intrusive, very helpful. Happy to share local advice and to show us the alpacas.

We were very comfortable.

The free logs and kindling (already chopped) for the wood burner were appreciated. There was even food for the bird table provided!

Moorgair Cottage is probably the cleanest, cosiest and best equipped self-catering place we've ever been, seemingly nothing has been overlooked.

Gordon is the perfect owner - very friendly and, living next door, always accessible, but never intrusive. It is well placed away from main roads, but within easy reach of many of the attractions that the area has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there, even the one day that the weather was too dismal to venture out. Thank you!

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location.

Whilst everything you are likely to need has been provided, we were cold at times as we had no control of the heating timing which was erratic. We also found the double bed far too hard for our comfort (we are in our 60's), akin to sleeping on the floor, fortunately the single beds were a bit softer and pressed into use. A well equiped kitchen area but it's a bit cramped to work in although adequate. The WiFi works but keeps disconecting. Surprisingly little contact with the owners except when the TV died and was promptly replaced.

Moorgair is a great base for a holiday.

When we arrived, the owner was there to greet us and was really friendly. The cottage has everything you would need for a week away and is in a beautiful location, ideal for visiting Northumberland and the North Pennines.

This holiday cottage was so lovely and cosy, but had plenty of room.

It was immaculately clean, with every utensil and appliance you could ever need. It was easy to find, with spacious parking. The owners were very helpful and friendly and even their dog was really friendly. Even though we didn’t have the best weather, there was plenty to see and do within a short drive. Corbridge is a very pretty village. We would highly recommend this cottage. Wonderful. Thank you.

An immaculate cottage, well equipped and warm.

The bedding was first class and the bathroom was immaculate....lots of hot water. The owners were helpful and welcoming.

If want complete peace and quiet, this is the place.

Very comfortable and homely. .

We had a fantastic time in this beautiful cottage!

It was truly idyllic surroundings and a really friendly host. A really beautiful place to stay.

Cottage and facilities were very good, location was rural and very quiet.

Very peaceful break

Very nice clean, cosy and comfortable accommodation in a beautiful location.

Gordon, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. The local village of Slaley has a Community run pub - The Rose & Crown - with a varied menu and excellent food. Plenty of interesting places in the area.

The cottage was exceptionally clean, nicely presented and very comfortable.

The owner lives on site and was very friendly and approachable. Situated in a quiet countryside location, this was the ideal base to travel to Hadrian's Wall or the Coast. We found no shortage of excellent places to eat nearby.

Great accommodation, very well situated for a holiday in Northumberland.

Good spot for families to explore.

Fantastic!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The house was spotless and was quiet and everything thought of.

The owner was extremely helpful and called ahead of our stay.

The house was very clean, well equipped and an excellent location.

Moorgair Cottage is a well thought out self catering place.

It is comfortable with good quality furniture and it is very clean. The bed linen is beautiful and the kitchen is very well equipped. The host is friendly and helpful. The cottage is in a beautiful area and a good base to explore, with many National Trust and English Heritage places to visit. Corbridge is close by with nice walks and quaint shops. A truly lovely place to stay with lots of wildlife to watch from the window. I had never seen a hare close up, till going to Moorgair! Thank you.

This holiday was great the cottage was situated in a beautiful and quiet location and we were in driving distance to the various location we visited throughout the week.

The cottage was warm and cozy, it had all the essentials things we needed including a washer and tumble dryer in the summerhouse. The owner Gordon was very nice and helpful and the highlight of the visit was getting to feed the alpaca that our on the property.

Weekend break with friends.

. the owner Gordon was superb.. very comfortable cottage which went above and beyond my expectations. This was the second time here and won’t be the last. Wonderful

Gordon was fantastic, the location, attention to detail and cleanliness of the cottage was brilliant.

We loved it and would highly recommend it.

Beautiful cottage in lovely peaceful location.

Very clean and comfortable with everything provided. Kind and helpful owner. Well positioned to visit many interesting places. Really enjoyed our week at moorgair cottage.

Gordon the owner was fabulous.

. very helpful even during a powercut. The cottage is the best we have ever stayed in. 1000 out of 10. Thanks Gordon and see you next year!

Lovely cottage in a beautiful area.

The owners were extremely kind and helpful and set up a cot for my 6 month old. I would definitely stay here again.

To step into a holiday let, with this level of cleanliness, comfort and warmth is a very rare commodity.

The owner was fantastic, was so welcoming, also non intrusive, but there if you needed anything,I can’t praise this cottage highly enough, the location is secluded, but on the doorstep of many of Northumberland’s top places to visit! At the end of the day, you’ll only find out how good it is by staying here!.We will certainly be coming back!!

We had a lovely holiday at Moorgair.

The cottage was very comfortable and cosy. Moorgair is situated on a working farm, but is very quiet,we got a good night's sleep. The countryside here is beautiful. A restful time which we thoroughly enjoyed.

We really liked Moorgair Cottage and its very helpful owner Gordon.

The cottage was very nice and comfortable and more spacious than the photos suggested. It was in a lovely and quiet position in the middle of the countryside but in easy distance from Slayley (nice pub), Hexham (bustling little town with an interesting Priory) and Corbridge (where we had our best meals of the week in Ilpiccolo). Also great walking country around Hadrian's Wall. Very much recommended!

Moorgair is a lovely cottage.

The cottage is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Gordon, the owner is very friendly and welcoming, it was a pleasure to meet him. We highly recommend this cottage and it is ideally situated for Hadrians Wall, or longer trips to Holy Island etc.

We could not have asked for a more pleasant place to stay.

Moorgair is situated in the beautiful surroundings of Northumberland and handily placed for exploring Northumbria, Cumbria, County Durham and beyond. The cosy accommodation was first class and had everything we could want and more. Gordon who owns the cottage and the farmhouse to which it is attached was the most friendly and easy-going host and it was a pleasure to be able to spend a week there. The only thing which would have made the our stay even more perfect would have been the luxury of more time to spend visiting the places we just didn’t have time to get to - something we intend to address by returning in the near future. A fantastic holiday in fantastic accommodation.

Gordon the owner was very helpfull.

He was always considerable about us ,asking if we had everything we required , which we did . He showed the children around the farm and let them feed the animals. Very much enjoyed our stay . Lovely place to stay with very picturesque views.

everything was clean and tidy.

friendly host. everything you needed was there. lots of things to see and do in the area.

The cottage was set in a beautiful, peaceful area of stunning Northumberland countryside.

There was easy access to lots of interesting places and activities. The owners were very kind, friendly people who did their utmost to ensure everything was ok for us. We enjoyed seeing the owner working in his surrounding fields going through the whole process of haymaking. All was safely gathered in!

This cottage, Moorgair, far exceeded our expectations.

We have had quite a number of cottages experiences throughout G.B. and Eire, yet this particular one turned up trumps in every way. Largely as a result of the owners effort, going out of their way to make the accommodation the very best and relaxing experience. From the comfort offered by the furniture to the provision of spotless facilities for our well-being eg. Washing machine and dryer. This was a perfect location for any guests wishing to explore the extraordinary Northumberland countryside.

Moorgair was a beautiful cottage off the beaten track.

It was just the week we needed to escape our busy lives. The cottage was beautifully furnished, very cosy and very well equipped. Having a log burner was an added bonus and enabled us to cope with the wintry weather that Northumberland threw at us. I would definitely recommend it.

You neednt take anything with you to this lovely cottage as Gordon the owner has provided everything needed even tea bags, coffee and sugar etc.

Theres even a BBQ in the outhouse although our Xmas trip weather didnt see it get used. Really appreciated the log fire for the atmosphere although the central heating kept the cottage toasty anyway. Really good location for exploring and took train to Newcastle for the day and next time will go to Durham. Excellent choice and we can recommend it for a great stay and the two local pubs are excellent.

We were made very welcome to a clean and comfortable cottage, and had a most enjoyable week.

Why can't all holiday cottages be like this one?

Fantastic cottage in a beautiful setting.

Extremely clean, everything that we needed was provided. The owner was pleasant and helpful but not intrusive. Would recommend, a lovely place to stay.

We loved the cottage had everything we needed when arrived so well equipped & very clean,Gordon the owner was so helpful &friendly we will definitely be going back, great places to visit.

The cottage is located in a lovely rural area and is ideal for anyone who is seeking a peaceful break away from city life.

The cottage had everything you would need.

The owner was very helpful and the area is beautiful.

The cottage was very comfortable.

The bedroom size very good. Was very clean and nicely furnished. The owner lived next door and was very friendly and helpful but did not intrude. Overall I would recommend this cottage.
