We loved our stay at Gallow Law cottage.

It was very comfortable indeed and immaculately presented. The location was incredibly peaceful and beautiful.

So spacious and with three doors opening to the back garden, is brilliant with a dog.

Cottage was exactly as photographed and described (via Hotels.com). Really homely, comfortable and amazing amount of space - big bedrooms, kitchen, living area and lovely garden. Very well equipped for cooking and eating in the house. Lovely owner, very helpful (on-site and in the welcome/info folder). Be ready for a few miles driving down single track roads, but worth it for the calm and serenity, and beautiful surroundings.

Lovely clean cottage remote location nice and quiet would have liked a toilet and shower in part of very large double bed room .

It wash a lovely cottage

The cottage was extremely comfortable, warm, well-equipped, and spacious.

We loved the amount of space the children had to roam. We could not have left the house for 4 days, if we so wished. Minor improvements could include curtains across the patio doors (for warmth, children’s uncertainty, and a feeling of privacy coming out of the bathroom), a couple more tea towels and perhaps some cooking oil. We noticed the WiFi didn’t work in the living room and master bedroom but this wasn’t an issue for us. The Christmas tree, Christmas cake, milk and bubbles were a lovely touch for our festive stay. The cottage is relatively remote but the quietness and privacy were perfect for us.

Lovely quite property nice and tranquil , well quipped really comfy bed but could do with a new sofa to make it extra comfy.

Lovely isolated location and no light pollution grate for star watching . Would definitely stay again .

A truly amazing place.

Beautiful surrouding. The cottage itself is well equipped, tastefully decorated, comfortable and squicky clean. This is the stay place if you are in Northumberland.

The cottage is located in a beautiful spot on the very edge of the Northumberland National Park so there are many walks in easy access.

The location is central to most main sites on Hadrian’s Wall and the coast is only one hour away. Would recommend for a tranquil break.

All the amenities you need within, for a relaxing break. Amazing walks and views in the surrounding area. Quaint village close by with lovely shops, especially the butchers and green grocer. A perfect property in a beautiful place.

If you are looking for peace and quiet look no further. Gallow Law was so spacious, well furnished and equipped. Really comfortable beds and log fire was perfect for cozy evenings. The roll top bath was great after a day out. So much to do on your doorstep and Kielder is only minutes away. Dark skies were a delight on an autumnal evening. Definitely recommend the butchers and greengrocers in Bellingham and The Pheasant Inn at Stannersburn.

Beautiful cottage very idyllic the scenery is amazing, it is remote but if you want a relaxing holiday away from it all this is the place to be, there are plenty of things to do and see, I can reccomend the pheasant pub up the road for a meal Colleen

Had a couple of issues with cooker lightbulb and dishwasher not working but the owner was brilliant in trying to resolve the issues promptly.

The cottage was beautiful, comfy and very cosy and there was wine and scones to greet us on arrival. We would be more than happy to visit again. One of the best cottages we’ve stayed at.

A great place with pubs and restaurants a short drive away if necessary. Easy walks from your door.

Gem of a cottage, lovely location, fairly remote, quiet and peaceful.

All rooms are large, so plenty of room, could do with a door or child gate between kitchen and lounge so that the dogs are contained in kitchen area,. We felt more comfortable keeping them in the van. Loved been able to take dogs for a walk into the forest. Wine, scone, milk and teabags left by owners, scone was lovely. For us great area, would book again

A fabulous cottage with everything you would need.

The bed and bedding was so comfortable and the location was amazing. The owner was really friendly but not intrusive at all and gave us some good suggestions of places to walk with our dog. We highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for some peace and quiet and fabulous walks on your doorstep.

What a great holiday cottage in a rural setting.

For peace en silence this is a amazing place with all the comfort of home. The owner is a very friendly person. The dogs had a great time in the woods. The garden is enclosed so the dogs can enjoy themselves. Bellingham is closeby and has a COOP with good supplies and the is also a local bakery. We had a super holiday week!

Very comfortable cottage & generally well equipped, though more storage space ie.

a chest of drawers is needed in the main bedroom (we brought the chest in from the smaller bedroom for our two weeks.) Also the sofas in the lounge are large & squashy & weren’t very comfortable for elderly people. There isn’t a rear garden as such, only gravel, so some pots & tubs would help to make it attractive for sitting out. Lovely quiet location, with only the trickle of the brook heard at night. The walk up to the forest was nice. Lots of wild flowers in June & birdlife eg. Cuckoo & tawny owl heard.

It was our second village to this lovely cottage and we knew it would be a great base to prepare for and then recover from The Northumbrian (half) Ironman.

Beautifully clean and exceptionally well equipped. King size bed was the most comfortable bed in any holiday cottage we’ve stayed in! Superb position making the most of the glorious countryside. Thank you for being a great host, welcoming but unobtrusive.

Beautiful, remote cottage in a lovely part of the country.

It’s bigger than it looks on the photos and was a delight to stay for a week, with super comfy beds and great walks on the doorstep.

We found the property very much to our liking and mentioned this to the owner when we met.

Peaceful and surrounded by nature. Idyllic We would certainly recommend. Our dogs had so much freedom to run wild. It was joyful watching them. Will definitely return in the future.

This really is a very special place and the property is very comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean.

The cottage is at the end of a very long, single track country lane on a working farm. The scenery is stunning, and we loved watching the sheep immediately outside the kitchen window. There are lovely walks immediately outside the door and we saw deer several times. It's fabulous for star gazing as there is no light pollution. The owner is on site but unobtrusive, and is very helpful and approachable. We appreciated all the little treats and the attention to detail that helped to make our stay so enjoyable. Highly recomended and we will definitely return!

The most comfortable cottage we have ever stayed in, really well equipped and very roomy.

From the outside it doesn't look particularly big but it is a Tardis. Very quiet and peaceful with lovely walks close to hand. If you want a quiet break we would recommend this most highly. Five star accomodation.

Gallow Law is beautiful and has everything you need for a perfect holiday. The road it is on goes to nowhere great for walking the dogs, it was so peaceful. The stars at night were brilliant. A magical place.

Really enjoyed the quiet location (no noise other than the birds) with nice walks from the door.

The decor, furnishings and utilities at the cottage are of a high standard.

Coupled with the beautifully situated, quiet, remote location, this made for an excellent stay. No traffic noise, just delightful birdsong. The friendly and knowledgeable owner was on hand nearby (if needed) and gave us exceedingly useful information about the surrounding area and local wildlife. Instructions in the cottage were comprehensive and clear. Local amenities for groceries and petrol were just a short drive away as were many good pubs selling quality real ales with decent food. Plenty of delightful tourist destinations just a short drive away for great days out (e.g. Kielder, Wallington Hall, Chesters Fort, Housesteads, Sycamore Gap, Belsay Hall). Fabulous! I would imagine Gallow Law Cottage receives many repeat bookings!

Excellent cottage; only one small problem with the oven - the owner is sorting out - did not cause us any problem.

Spacious, cozy cottage with everything you could possibly need.

Quiet and relaxing location. Would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone looking for peace and tranquility. Relaxing in front of the log fire after a day walking in the forest was just perfect.

Quality property in a fantastic area. May be a drive to shops etc but well worth it. Spend the day out exploring and return to cook a meal in the very well-equipped kitchen and then relax on comfy sofas sipping wine!

Gallow Law is a beautiful barn conversion.

Very clean with everything you could possibly want or need. Set in the middle of the countryside your neighbours are sheep. If you love wildlife and enjoy peace and quiet this is the place for you.

We have stayed at the neighbouring cottage before and can highly recommend either.

The house had everything you needed and had a cosy yet luxurious feel. Great to unwind.

Gallow Law is a remote, spacious, sumptuous and tranquil jewel.

The decor and facilities are first class - every utensil, glass pot and pan you could need. The owner is so friendly and helpful and the little touches.... like a bottle of nice white wine in the fridge, tea, coffee, milk, sugar and various condiments - and even 2 home made scones with jam and butter to welcome you - all really make you feel at home. The setting and scenery is gorgeous too. Short trip to Kielder and to the shops and pubs in Bellingham. The welcoming Pheasant Inn is also a short drive too.

We were looking for a quiet and restful break in a rural area.

Very enjoyable and relaxing New Year break.

The cottage is lovely and fitted out to a very high specification with extremely comfy beds. Loved the little extra touches of the Christmas Tree, Christmas cake, Prosecco and even treats for the dog. The pictures on the website really don’t do it justice. It’s in a great location for scenery, very quiet (no fireworks) with great walks and amazing views of the stars on clear nights. Thoroughly recommended.

Everything was excellent.

Booking procedure straight forward and hassle free. Holiday accommodation was the best we have stayed in. We hope to return.

The property was everything as shown on the website and so much more.

It can be said that I can be Mrs Picky, but I couldn't find anything to be picky about! High quality fittings and furnishings, a lovely secure garden for the dog and an ideal location for walking with plenty to see in the area. A visit to the observatory at Kielder is a must!

Thoroughly enjoyed our return visit to Gallow Law & instantly felt at home as we walked in the door.

Lovely & very generous welcome pack of bread, milk, wine & cupcakes (thank you)! The cottage is very light & airy yet still maintains a cosy & modern feel. Logs supplied etc for fire. Beautiful bedding & towels throughout plus the comfiest beds/pillows ever! Level access throughout (1 step from kitchen to living area) & walk in shower make this property ideal for those with mobility issues. We took our own portable ‘half step’. Proprietor next door is very kind, welcoming & very helpful if you need him but not intrusive. Had a fabulous time & can see a return visit again to star gaze!

The 'cottage' is enormous!

It is truly 5* accommodation with all you would need if it is peace, tranquillity as well as home comforts that you are looking for. The approach is a long drive down the single track road to the cottage so be prepared for that but it is well, well worth it. Meals on the patio if the weather allows, loads of local walks amongst the woods straight from the door so no need to use the car again! Wi-fi access allows for 'working' if you have need. A ideal and idyllic retreat.

A wonderful cottage in a stunning location.

Inside the property you find a very comfortable, top end property with stunning views everywhere. It is very peaceful and quiet all around and the night sky is not to be missed if you get a cloudless night. Lots to do and see in the area, especially if you like the outdoors. Wild life is great also, cows and sheep about (they might come past the kitchen window but can't get into the property) and birds are everywhere. Very good amenities in Bellingham. Thoughtful owners, they left some much appreciated welcome gifts. Would highly recommend this property, we are already thinking about going back.

We could not hear when out side the cottage a single thing that was man made. No light polution

Remote cottage, but nearest village about 5 miles away has everything you need.

May well return. Stayed in this area so we could visit Haydrians Wall and Kielder Observatory, we booked in twice! Both occasions were very good, despite the weather being too cloudy to see any stars on the second visit!

If you like a break in a clean & well equipped heritage cottage with the sound of a bubbling river outside the front door and great walks then this is 100% perfect.

As an added bonus there is no mobile signal ! ( Wi-fi in cottage for those who cannot go without )

Outstanding location, in the middle of farmland and suurounded by forest.

The luxury accommodation provided a wonderful homely retreat and was within easy driving distance to lakes, walks, culture filled towns and the historical remains of Hadrian's Wall.

Superb barn conversion in a remote location which was perfect for our holiday.

When we arrived at the cottage we were immediately impressed by the cleanliness and quality of the place.

The beds and linen were some of the best we have experienced and we were really impressed! The kitchen was well enough equipped for us, plenty of crockery and glassware to meet our needs and enough pans and dishes to cook easily. The fridge was a little small given the distance from a large supermarket, but was fine for the four of us. We can recommend sausages from Rothbury if you visit Cragside, absolutely amazing! The location was just what we wanted, seclusion, perfect dark skies and picturesque. We were able to walk from the front door and the cows and sheep were lovely to watch from the kitchen window! Simon was warm and friendly without being intrusive in the slightest. We were left a welcome pack and that was really generous. Overall a delightful and friendly host! The location for us was perfect, we toured all of Northumberland and popped into Scotland :) We saw the Milky Way and then warmed ourselves by the log burner, absolutely perfect! We are hoping to book to come back next summer, the area and the cottage has really stolen our hearts!

The location was superb although being a bit isolated it was peaceful and the cottage again was superb with a large bed and quite large rooms and all the facilities were present.

The only drawback was that when the weather is cold the cental heating was not that effective and we were not able to use the fire because of our mobility.

The cottage was everything & more. Beautiful comfy beds & luxurious bedding. The rooms are huge, light & airy yet it still manages to have a warm cosy feel to it. The welcome pack of bread, butter, milk, scones & wine were a lovely touch too - thank you! We weren’t able to eat out (due to food allergies) so had to cook indoors. However, we found the fridge a tad on the small side. The cottage is situated in a stunning part of Northumberland & would highly recommend. We’ll certainly be returning!

The cottage is very comfortable and in a lovely and peaceful remote location with lots of good walks around.

This was a superb cottage with definitely the wow factor.

In addition to the lovely cottage its location is at least equally impressive, It is isolated but the scenery is lovely, the walking is on your doorstep. I cannot praise it enough - just one word of warning - you are 7 miles from the nearest village so no popping out for milk or bread. We and our dog Lia loved it.

My wife and I very much enjoyed the peace and quiet and picturesque remoteness of Gallow Law Cottage, being some three miles from the main road from Kielder to Bellingham, which in itself bears no comparison whatsoever to the volumes of traffic one experiences nearer to more densely populated areas.

The owner, Simon, lives next door in Bower House and was very friendly and helpful and not at all intrusive. The welcome pack of scones, tea & coffee, milk and butter, not forgetting the bottle of wine, was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Accommodation was very clean and comfortable and fully equipped as we all expect nowadays. Admittedly the weather was superb for our stay, but even if it had been not so good then we would have still enjoyed our stay and may even have used the TV and vast array of games and books available. There is plenty to see and do in the area, one week was not enough! We certainly recommend Gallow Law Cottage to those wanting a relaxing and peaceful holiday away from the "madding crowd".

This was our first holiday in a holiday cottage and Gallow Law has certainly set the bar high.

Such a lovely cottage with plenty of room for the whole family. Very cosy and has everything you could need. It was lovely to arrive to a welcome package of scones, butter, bread, milk, wine and dog biscuits. The owner, Simon also brought round some freshly laid eggs which is just what we needed for our morning fry up. It’s such a peaceful location with lovely walks from the doorstep and not far from Kielder which is worth a visit. It was very helpful to have walking routes on the bookcase and plenty of information on places to visit. Thank you for a lovely stay, we were sad to be leaving but will definitely be back!

Beautiful and comfortable cottage.

It had everything we needed, very thoughtfully well equipped. We loved the spaciousness and the locatiom being remote it meant we got no sound from the road at all. So peaceful, tranquil and serene. We were spoilt with the view too. Plenty of walking paths but we didn’t get to do many due to the weather and the ground being too saturated. Would definitely like to return in the future to explore more.

Outstanding peoperty and venue

A secluded cottage in Kielder forest with accommodation on one level, very comfortable and excellent facilities.

The quality of goods included far exceed some holiday cottages we have experienced. Overall 5 star from us and we stay at quite a few holiday cottages throughout the country.

We booked this cottage for 2 reasons, 1) dark skies so we could see stars without light pollution, we got clear cold nights but also a full moon, so we could only see the stars that we would see back at home.

2) to have time away due to bonfire night, as our dog got very stressed last year at home, we got our wish and very chilled and relaxed dog. About the cottage.....WOW you get a lot of cottage for your money, particularly in off season, loads of internal space, photos don't do it justice and deceptive from front, if you are taking dog(s) there are safe areas for them front and back, back is preferred as you can see through several windows. Cast log stove makes lounge nice and cosy, watching flames dance with no lights on and a lovely moon rise in the old arch window, was a joy for me....but lost on the hound. Kitchen, plenty of space and enough utensils and cookware (take a water filter if you have one) water is from a bore hole, but tea is nicer having had water filtered. Bathroom, big, nice deep bath and separate shower.....but its the only one, if you have family of four, you may struggle at times. The area, well you got a forest on your doorstep, 2 rivers (1 front, 1 back) Kielder water not far away, Hadrian's wall (I recommend locating a place called the SILL) its a new education centre, great for kids. Hexham is nearest major town, lovely buildings, and shops a good park with skate park, nearest village is Bellingham, which has food shops, tea rooms, heritage centre with a railway carriage, a waterfall walk.....its a cracking area for those muddy walks and wide open spaces, my only gripe is dog and animals, the place is full of either sheep or cattle.....so no suitable places to let dog off lead, same with cottage area, only safe space to play is your rear enclosed garden, everywhere else has to be on lead. But apart from that I cannot recommend this cottage enough, for a autumn/winter hide away it's perfect.
