The property

Braeburn welcomes you with its soft blue timber-clad exterior and gravelled driveway, where a gated entrance ensures a secure space for children and pets.

The scent of sea air drifts across from the dunes just beyond the road, and Bamburgh Castle’s silhouette rises in the distance, hinting at the coastal charm that surrounds you.

Step into the rear sun room, a peaceful space with rattan seating and views of the enclosed garden.

The house flows with a gentle rhythm, beginning in the practical kitchen—equipped for everything from morning fry-ups to evening feasts, with a tumble dryer tucked away in the shed for sandy towels and muddy boots.

A shower room just off the kitchen offers a quick refresh after coastal adventures.

The dining room is a place to linger, with generous proportions and a striking original bread oven anchoring the space in its history.

Whether sharing stories over supper or planning the next day’s adventures, it invites connection.

In the sitting room, a gas fire flickers within a rustic stone alcove, casting warmth across wooden floors.

Bay windows frame the garden and, in winter, offer glimpses of Bamburgh Castle through bare branches.

Original wooden panelling and latch-and-bolt doors add character, while soft blues and whites reflect the coastal surroundings.

Three bedrooms - a super-king, a king, and a twin - offer flexibility for families or friends, each styled with gentle tones and thoughtful touches.

The family bathroom, with bath and handheld shower, is ideal for unwinding after a windswept walk.

Outside, the enclosed garden is a private retreat, with a lawned area perfect for play and a sun house that catches the light.

As evening falls, settle in and let the sounds of the sea and shifting sky ease you into a slower pace.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
