The Chimney
Description
The Chimney is a striking period holiday home positioned near Bamburgh in Northumberland, offering an abundance of traditional features and generous space for family gatherings or shared stays with friends.
Rich in character throughout, the property combines heritage charm with inviting areas designed for social living.
The open-plan living space sits at the heart of the home and immediately sets the tone, drawing guests together in a welcoming and well-balanced setting.
A thoughtfully arranged seating area features comfortable sofas, attractive soft furnishings, and original details, all centred around a characterful woodburning stove that becomes a natural focal point as the evening unfolds.
Flowing on from the sitting area, the fully fitted kitchen is well arranged for catering to a larger group, making meal preparation a shared and enjoyable part of the stay.
At the centre of the room, an elegant dining table encourages everyone to come together for long meals and conversation, while double patio doors lead out to the courtyard and allow light to fill the space.
The courtyard itself offers a pleasant extension of the living area, ideal for outdoor dining or relaxed socialising during warmer moments of the day.
When it’s time to settle in for the night, The Chimney provides four well-appointed bedrooms.
These include a ground-floor super-king-size bedroom for easy access, along with three further bedrooms on the first floor comprising a super-king-size, a king-size, and a twin, each carefully presented as a welcoming retreat after busy days out.
Ideally located for exploring the region, Bamburgh lies close by with its selection of shops, eateries, and the iconic castle overlooking the coast.
The Heritage Coastline stretches beyond, revealing expansive sandy beaches, traditional fishing villages, and a succession of breath-taking castles.
Seahouses offers access to coastal excursions, Alnwick blends history with gardens and culture, and Berwick-upon-Tweed provides riverside walks and historic town walls close to the border.
The Chimney offers a characterful base ideal for group holidays shaped by shared experiences and memorable surroundings.

Just stayed at the Chimney for a 60th birthday celebration, six sisters together and it was just perfect .
The Chimney is beautiful, luxurious , contemporary, & comfortable, yet warm and cosy , we all absolutely loved it , & so much space for a lager family or group . We made such special memories and the chimney played a huge part , thank you .
The Chimney was a good place to stay, it was spacious.
It was a very comfortable well maintained property with everything we needed for a lovely holiday. We would definitely recommend it.
We have stayed at the Chimney twice before but this stay was very different.
When we arrived on the first day we found there was no key in the key box. Being after office hours and I had hardly any phone signal it took quite some time to contact someone in Sykes head office which was only done by a helpful neighbour with a working phone. But the man in Sykes contacted a lady from NCCC (Northumbria Coast and Country Cottages) Seahouses who was at home. She phoned me to say she would collect the spare key from her office and would bring it to us. This she did and we were most grateful. Having waited about 2 hours to gain entry NCCC agreed that we could have an extra two hours for checking out on the following Friday. The second problem was not having a working internet service which there should have been. This was important not least because one of our group had an online course to complete on two days. Some of us also had intermittent work related issues. On the Saturday morning after arriving Katie from NCCC phoned to apologise for the missing key issue and I mentioned the internet problem (and a bathroom door lock which didn’t work). She arranged for a NCCC maintenance man to come that morning to fix the lock (which he did) and to look at the wi-fi problem. He concluded that the problem was not something he could fix and would need the intervention of the internet supplier. To cut a long story short after several visits by the internet company staff the problem was finally resolved on the Wednesday or Thursday after arriving. It was a fault in the supply to the property. The internet connection was unavailable for much of our stay and was not restored until later in the week. So quite eventful week but I must record how attentive and helpful the NCCC staff were, Katy in particular. She understood the problem and didn’t rest until it was fixed. Very impressed with the support we were given.
