A very cosy and comfortable stay.

Space just about right for 2 people and our dog enjoyed chasing the chickens! Very peaceful and rural location but close to many well known attractions.

Excellent location, beautiful cottage with stunning views.

Very friendly,approachable owners but not intrusive. Would definitely stay again, highly recommend this location and miss it already!

A super five days in The Bothy.

A super 'home from home' with extra thoughtful touches which made us instantly feel we'd absolutely made the right choice of stay. The weather wasn't particularly kind, but nevertheless we went out all day and found The Bothy such a cosy & very comfortable place to come back to ... though sadly we couldn't sit outside to enjoy the lovely view! Very doggy friendly too, so a 'win win' all round! Thank you for a great stay.

Our first time visiting Northumberland and The Bothy.

It’s safe to say we were blown away. A lovely place located in peaceful surroundings which had everything we wanted to do near to us. The property is well kept and clean and we were welcomed with cake and fresh eggs from the owners chickens. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

A charming, well equipped, clean little cottage in an idyllic position.

Easy to get to Berwick, Seahouses, Lindisfarne and anywhere else you want to visit.

Throughly enjoyed our short stay at The Bothy, Secluded but close enough to a great pub (The Black Bull) an Lowick (brilliant village shop) Our dog had a great time and the enclosed garden was perfect.

This is a lovely well equiped cottage in a very peaceful area.

Local shop and pub are a mile so not too cut off and a couple of minute drive from the A1 so very easy connections eith the large towns and Holy Island. The views of the stars on a clear night are absolutely amazing. Very peaceful week enjoyed by wife and myself with the dog loving the open yard to explore Thank you!

The Bothy is a beautiful cottage in an idyllic location.

It was warm, cosy and clean with a lovely view of the adjacent fields and over the countryside. Two thoughtfully positioned, comfortable armchairs allowed unrestricted views of the countryside. The cottage was very well appointed and within easy reach of Lowick village and a short drive from the pristine coastline and Holy Island of Lindisfarne, as well as the Northumberland National Park. The cottage is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday away from it all, and the location is a paradise for walkers, photographers and artists. Would definitely recommend it, and I will definitely be going back. Thank you for a lovely holiday in a beautiful cottage.

What an amazing place.

Everything you would want in a cottage including cake, and so quiet and peaceful.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bothy, everything you need and more , very cosy very welcoming , bed very comfortable .

In easy reach of holy island , ford and Etal. Would definitely hope to stay again , lovely cake to help us settle in and not forgetting the 3 sheep outside the window . All in all a wonderful place with lovely hosts

The Bothy is just lovely, both from the outside and in.

Large enclosed garden area for our dog, and walking beyond the gate which is on farm tracks. Parking is just outside the gate, great for unloading. Inside, it's compact but there is everything there that you could need. It is cosy, cute, warm and with such a delightful outlook and two very comfy chairs to enjoy the view or to read your book. The kitchen area is small but well equipped, the shower is good, there is plenty of hot water and the bedroom upstairs is delightful with a king sized bed. Although it is a rural location and accessed down a half a mile of farm tarmac road, it is surprisingly handy for lots of tourist attractions and makes a brilliant base for walking - the Cheviot Hills being behind Wooler, about 8 miles away, and the beach being closer the other direction. Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick with its castle and gardens, Cragside and Rothbury, plus all the delightful coastal villages are all within easy reach - not forgetting Scotland with Kelso and Floors Castle nearby. Brilliant location - Brilliant Bothy. Thank you to the helpful hosts, we will be back.

Fabulous property in a peaceful location surrounded by countryside.

We enjoyed a comfortable and relaxing week with our two Norfolk terriers exploring both sides of the border. Lovely evening walks on the beach at Cheswick is highly recommended to round of your day. The property is everything you need to have a wonderful stay exploring the area and further afield. Lovely host, thank you.

This cottage was just as we'd hoped.

Peaceful, comfortable and everything that we needed for a lovely week in the area. Close enough for our visits to holy island, Alnwick gardens and seahouses for Farne island but still secluded enough to feel like we were in the middle of nowhere. Definitely would recommend this cottage and would love to return one day.

Lovely welcome at The Bothy from Chrisy - lemon cake on the table.

The Bothy is well positioned for exploring the local area, with coastal walks and local pub - The Black Bull.

Can you add a little to the map details as we came into Lowick from Hawick/Coldstream to pass the Castle Caravan Park which is where the sat nav post code tries to send you to turn left at the road junction with the B6525 and to head towards Berwick for a mile and to look for a yellow house standing back from the road to turn left into Barmoor Mill (the sign is quite small so we finished up in Ancroft) with the Bothy being to the left of the carport for which there is a sign on the wall

An absolutely wonderful cottage, our hosts made us very welcome and the lemon cake was a delicious welcome after our long journey.

Our Christmas stay was a glorious break that we both needed and our two dog's were also very comfortable and enjoyed giving the sheep a stare through the windows. Clean, comfortable and great views, will recommend to all our family and friends.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Bothy.

It is such a comfortable warm cottage and perfect for two people and a dog! We really appreciated the lovely cake when we arrived and the logs too. If I have one criticism the shower head was black and needed a clean. Apart from that the cottage was spotless. We loved Northumberland and a week was not long enough to see everything so we will definitely be back.

We loved the view across the fields and those big Northumberland skies. The Bothy was spotlessly clean and we were provided with plenty of towels and other items. It was great to have a secure area outside where our dogs could roam freely. Overall we had a great time and offer our thanks to the friendly and welcoming owners.

The Bothy is beautifully presented - clean, well equipped, comfortable & cosy.

It is quietly located off the road yet Northumberland 's wonderful beaches, castles & countryside are all within easy reach. The nearby village of Lowick has an excellent corner shop and the White Swan serves excellent meals. Our thanks to the owners for a wonderful week.

We really enjoyed a cosy, peaceful and chilled out time staying in The Bothy.

It was a perfect location for touring the Northumbrian coastline. The owners were only next door, but left us in peace but were there if a problem arose which it didn’t. The cottage had everything you could need to have a home from home experience and I’m sure we will return in the future.

Beautiful and spacious end of barn conversion, tastefully decorated, well laid out and equipped.

Useful to have manual available to work out how to operate oven! Quiet and peaceful if you don't mind sheep. EBI cushions on dining table chairs were the tie on kind, with a bit more padding as well. small sharp paring knife would be good.

We loved our stay at The Bothy.

If you are after a peaceful time slightly off the beaten track, then this is the place for you. A good sized property for 2 people, upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, really good shower, warm and cosy, great for a dog (enclosed garden and great farm tracks), and super tv. Yes, the kitchen area is small but it's well equipped. No phone signal, but the wi-fi is fine for using What's app etc. But the best part of the property is the outlook from the two very comfy chairs overlooking the countryside (where the dining table is on the photos). And sitting outside when warm enough. Re. location, close enough to the wonderful beaches and close enough to the hills for hiking. Visits to Floors Castle at Kelso and the Distillery at Wooler are highly recommended. Plus there are plenty of good places to eat nearby. Chris and Steve are veery helpful but never intrusive hosts. We have already booked for 2025.

The Bothy is a lovely little cottage and the owners have furnished it with comfort and relaxation in mind.

It is light and airy, with wonderful views over the countryside, and there is plenty of outside space. It's location is ideal for exploring north Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. The village of Lowick is within walking distance, down a quiet lane. Lowick has a lovely local shop and two pubs, both serving good food and are dog friendly. The owners of The Bothy live next door and we received a warm welcome. They advised that they were happy to help if we needed anything. Otherwise, they left us to enjoy our holiday without intrusion, which was perfect.

The Bothy is lovely comfortable and clean, the property facilities could be improved by providing a small freezer to enable better food storage as eating out is quite limited locally especially as one of us is vegan.

We had an issue with the kitchen tap not working properly and hotwater being tricky to work out. The hosts did what they could to fix the problem. The hosts were helpful and available but respected our privacy.

This place is a little gem!

Set adjacent to the owners house (but we hardly saw them) and a small number of cottages. So peaceful. The cottage was perfect size for the two of us and our dog. The furniture is set out different to the pictures ( much better in our opinion). The 2 armchairs looking out of the front window on a morning watching the birds was just lovely while we had our first cup of tea. The table in the middle seemed just the right place and the sofa facing the tv. WiFi was a godsend as the phone signal was very poor. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. The complimentary eggs and cake were also very much appreciated ( and delicious) . We were also happy to see decent coffee and tea had been supplied. Another big bonus - the owners didn’t scrimp on supply of loo rolls (one of our pet hates). Our border collie loved watching the 3 sheep through the garden fence. There was good dog walking straight from the door and the cottage was within easy driving distance of all the Northumberland coast villages and towns ( including Holy Island). All in all a 5 star stay. No issues at all and we very much hope to visit again at some point in the future. Thanks for a fabulous weekend stay x

Welcoming hosts, lovely property with a view of the countryside to enjoy. Peaceful location. Lots of places to visit in the area. All in all, great.

Super stay , great location close to Northumbria Coast and so easy to get to.

Weather was very wet when we visited so spent plenty of time inside, clean and warm with lots to do - we watched the Deer, Pheasants, Heron etc.We had our dog with us and there are walks literally on the doorstep. Good local facilities and tried local pubs and the visiting chip van too ! The cottage is frequently booked out , so felt lucky to get a few days here , will try and visit again :)

Wow!

Impressed cosy. So many thoughtful things lemon drizzle cake on arrival, dog bowl, dog towels, poo bags all there even though we didn't use them. Warm and so pretty with the daffodils on table can not fault it. Nice pub The Black Bull nearby that allows dogs. Would definitely book again.

Lovely cottage and very clean and comfortable

This little cottage is for a couple wouldn’t suit children.

It’s dog friendly with lovely walks near by. The beaches although amazing are a car ride away. The owners are dog happy and have their own and live on site. They maintain the Bothy very well but the cottage does not have a dishwasher. It does however have a log burner and an ample supply of free range eggs from the owner who has her own chickens. Overall if your willing to travel to do your sight seeing daily (and food shop) it is a delightful quiet haven away from it all with beautiful scenery.

The Bothy was very clean and had all the equipment needed for the Stay.

The setting was perfect and peaceful but also handy for the wider area. The hosts had thought of everything including towels and water bowl for the dogs. The Bothy was warm (wood burning Stove) and the the welcome cake was much appreciated. It was a pleasant stay and we will be back again. Just to mention the black bull pub has nice food when we tried it.

Beautiful view from the bay window. Very relaxing! Bed was comfortable & the log burner was a lovely feature. The only negatives were the plain glass windows in the upstairs bathroom & the bedroom. Some kind of blind is definitely needed. Overall, a lovely place to stay if relaxation and getting away from it all is required.

Cottage cosy and comfortable. Very quiet with good views from the large windows for watching the wildlife and also the starry sky at night. Dog friendly with walks straight from the door. Enjoyed the homemade cake and fresh eggs .

We had a wonderful stay.

Greeted with cake and fresh eggs, we made ourselves at home right away and got into some heavy-duty relaxation. We spent every morning walking our dogs on along sections of the coast, then went to one of many beautiful tourist attractions (castles, gardens, islands and towns) before going back to The Bothy to just read with a cup of tea in front of the big window to take in the view. On occasion we went out to the Cheviots at night to look at the stars. Everything was just perfect.

The Bothy was great, easy to find great parking, relaxing and cozy, lovely views, and the way its layout is in side, is better that tha photos show, Early morning coffee in the comfy chairs looking out the lovely window,reading a magazine or o the cozy Sofa,lovely and warm, very tranqual and so central for the north east coast, and lovely dog walking straight from the door, great beaches just a 5 minute drive, the owners were there when needed, but you would not know they were there, we will be back, A Great Stay

The Bothy is a lovely, comfortable converted barn that manages to be both cosy and spacious.

It is situated in a gorgeous part of the country, and has glorious views from the outside seating area (including at night: the starlight on a cloudless night is breath-taking). It is very well-equipped with everything a visitor needs for a relaxing base for a holiday in Northumberland - the owners have really thought of everything (including the provision of welcoming cake, and fresh eggs). Tall people (I am 6ft 2) will need to get used to the low beams in the bathroom - the trick is to open the door fully - but this is quickly learnt, and posed no problems for me. 10 minutes from Berwick-upon-Tweed and the Ford & Etal Estate, half-an-hour from Alnwick, Lindisfarne, Seahouses, the Flodden Field battle site, Cragside House ... and countless other historic and natural attractions. I thoroughly enjoyed my fortnight at The Bothy, and shall certainly use this as a base for my next holiday in Northumberland.

Our second visit to the Bothy which is cosy and welcoming.

The owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make the property attractive. The setting is restful whilst also being convenient for visits to such places as Holy Island, Berwick, Bamburgh etc. If you are looking for somewhere to wind down and relax the Bothy is ideal. 5 star.

A welcome break in a wonderful cottage in the most perfect, peaceful setting.

We found 'the bothy' well-equipped, beautifully furnished and were taken with the finishing touches such as the fresh flowers and the cake and tea upon arrival. The fresh eggs made a cracking breakfast with our 'stottie' from the Lowick local store. We loved our tech free evenings sat in front of the windows overlooking the fields of gold awaiting the visit from the robin and the troop of chickens ably led by 'billiy' (our name) the black cockerel. We would definitely recommend 'the bothy' not only as a peaceful getaway but also as the perfect location to explore the stunning coastline and countryside of this part of Northumberland.

We loved our third stay at the Bothy.

Our hosts were really friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed watching the chickens pottering about and the pet sheep and the lovely free range eggs and cake on arrival. It was a lovely break from our usual busy lives. Even though we have visited the area before we found new places to visit and the weather was beautiful too. Many thanks to Christine and Steve.

A very well equipped cottage for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

The views of the surrounding countryside are exceptional. The owners are very helpful and friendly with their local knowledge and information on walks and places to visit. The chicken are very friendly and great to watch. Excellent area to stay within east reach of Lindisfarne and a short drive from Bamburgh, Alnwick, Seahouses and Berwick upon Tweed. Would recommend to anyone and perhaps May visit again one day.

The owners were very welcoming, leaving us fresh eggs and home made cake which was very kind of them.

The Bothy is a lovely compact property overlooking fields. You felt there was nothing else around but the owner's property was to the side, but did not distract from you feeling very secluded. Loved watching the cockerel and hens walking about the grounds and the own flying around at certain times in the fields. Would recommend this property if you want a relaxing and very convenient property for visits to the Farne Islands, Holy Island and so many other beautiful places. Hopefully will go back one day.

The bothy is a little gem

Owners were very welcoming, and were on hand for any queries we had.

We were made very welcome to a lovely little cottage ideal for a couple and dog, being located in wonderful countryside and farmland enabled us to visit some of our favourite places in the area.

Everything was provided within the property to make our stay as comfortable as possible and the view from the lounge was magnificent. Janet

Ideal location to explore the coastline

The property is a barn conversion which which has been very cleverly done.

Although the basic footprint of the property is small, the interior is deceptively spacious with plenty of room due to the very clever use of space. It is exceptionally well appointed with a very high level of cleanliness and wonderfully cosy on an evening. Although on a working farm we had a very peaceful, quiet week. Local people are very friendly and the big Northumberland skies are breathtaking on a clear night. A superb getaway.

Secluded, quiet, cosy -perfect place to get away from it all. The hosts live opposite the cottage and are friendly but certainly not obtrusive. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need. Fantastic base to explore Northumberland.

We had a most comfortable and relaxing week. Christine and Steve are a really friendly and lovely couple. Steve went the extra mile when i had a puncture and drove me 10 miles to get a new tyre.

Lovely warm and cosy litte retreat well placed to visit some of Northumbrias best loved attractions.

We particulary liked the sitting area over looking fields and being able to sit down with a cup of tea and the cake (provided by Mrs Betts) to enjoy the views!

This is a lovely secluded cottage, perfect for a quiet getaway.

I immediately had to go to the village store for washing up liquid and kitchen roll not what you expect, the cutlery was all mismatched and only one waste bin for two toilets and bedroom.

The Bothy was perfect for us, Nice and spacious with great views across the fields whilst having a cuppa, plus lovely and quiet only hearing the cockerel in the morning and the odd sheep bleating which was great.

We had a nice welcome with milk and cake which we thought was a lovely touch. We would highly recommend ‘The Bothy’ at Lowick especially if you are looking for a peaceful and well located place to stay.

We loved the cottage and the location.

Our young border collies felt very welcomed there in the borders of Northumberland. We had a week of sunshine, blue skies, breathtaking scenery, dramatic castles, gorgeous beaches, good food and warm friendly local people. Sykes holidays continue to be our first choice.

A delightful barn conversion making for a most comfortable holiday.

A lot of thought has gone into making this property a first class destination.

This is our 4th year running that we have stayed at this property and it is just lovely.

Almost perfect. We are not big people but a slightly larger bed would definitely make this property perfect.

A lovely couples retreat.

Cosy and clean and our little dog was immediately at home too. The owners are very nice and we can see why the cottage is booked up most of the time. Close to Berwick, Bamber and Seahouses days out were great and the beaches wonderful. I would ask that a pay phone or WiFi be considered in the future, as no signal in the cottage. Sometimes families need to contact in emergencies. Next time I will take my hairdryer ! But overall excellent, excellent, excellent!!!

Fabulous holiday home, peaceful and beautiful, with a great range of options for days out.

Best of all - no broadband and very low mobile signal, so we really "got away from it all". Supermarkets etc within 8-10 miles. Had a great time.

Rural setting perfect for holiday with dogs.

Great views nice to have binoculars and bird watching books provided in cottage & bird feeders outside, we enjoyed watching the horse in the field beside the Bothy. Home made cake on arrival was the start of a very pleasant break .

Warm and cosy. Great place to eat breakfast in the morning sun. Such a lot to see and do within easy reach. A couple of more comfortable chairs/ a sofa would have been appreciated rather than conservatory-style furniture.

Absolute peace and quiet when we arrived we had cake to eat home-made at that excellent cottage would highly recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Bothy, as did our Pointer, Richie.

It was vitally important to be able to find somewhere he was as welcome as us. Once we'd got over the "separation anxiety" of not having internet access we enjoyed the freedom of not being bothered by it. The lack of a decent mobile signal is perhaps more of a handicap and although this is probably beyond the owners' control perhaps it should be pointed out to potential occupants. The property is well described and very well equipped and the "welcome cake" on arrival was an unexpected but very well received surprise! The are abounds with walks, beaches and history and there's no reason for anyone to lack entertainment in some form. We loved the area, having little knowledge of it, and we'll definitely be back!

Cottage thoughtfully prepared - attention to detail, nice little touches and everything convenient - a home from home. A bigger bed and a more comfortable sofa would have been the icing on the cake.

The Bothy was quite difficult to find-clearer directions would be useful.

First time up in Northumberland but it won’t be my last !

!! Stunning cottage if you want peace and quiet this is the cottage for you or if your sight seeing located in an ideal spot 5 minutes from the A1 with Berwick upon tweed 10 minutes away and Alnwick only 30 minutes to your south.

Great place to stay for the north east and Scotland borders,

this was the best place i have ever stayed in, it was roomy, excellent view from a large low window over the countryside and very quiet and peaceful although other houses around to give a feeling of security, the garden was enclosed so our dog could wander around, and could take the dog walks along two tracks from the cottage, a dry barn to park the car in.

not too far from the A1 road, so you could get quickly up the A1 to places you wanted to visit. the owner was friendly and helpful, our only fault was no internet .

This is the 3rd year running we have stayed here.

It is a truly lovely property and the area is amazing with easy access to the Holy Island on Lindisfarne. It is almost perfect, a larger bed would be the icing on a fantastic cake!

It was the perfect 10, Mr & Mrs Betts were so helpful and friendly.

Every little thing of The Bothy was fabulous.

Well worth a trip

The cottage and its setting is absolutely perfect, especially if you have dogs.

Chris the owner, who lives next door is always at hand with advice and help. The facilities are great and Chris owns a lot of the land around and does not keep any livestock, hence you can just let your dogs out to roam, safe in the knowledge that they are not going to harm livestock and tge river and fences will stop them running off. A beautiful little cottage, great walks around, we will be back.

We chose the week that the 'Beast from the East arrived.

With blizzards & snow drifts up to 6ft we were cut off from the outside world for 3 days. The Bothy kept us dry & warm while Mrs Betts kept us fed and informed of local conditions. Under difficult weather conditions we could not asked for more, so big thanks go to Mrs Betts and to the local farmers for clearing the roads.

This is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in - clean, comfortable, warm and in a great rural location.

It is an ideal base for anyone with a dog or two and keen to explore the Northumberland coast. The only very minor quibble was over the adequacy of some of the cooking inventory but overall we would wholeheartedly recommend it. Comments in the visitors book indicate that other tenants have been similarly well pleased.

The Bothy is a wonderful place to stay.

It's rural location ensures you experience peace and quiet although it is well situated for exploring the towns and beaches of Northumberland. We thoroughly enjoyed the home from home feel of the Bothy.

The location of the Bothy is amazing.

Peace and tranquillity in wonderful countryside, no disturbances (except the dawn chorus), animals and tame hens. What more could anyone want. The no wifi didn't bother us at all.

It was home from home very good in every way.

One word Perfect

This is a really snug little cottage in a beautiful part of the country.

There are lots of walks in the area and the Bothy is particularly convenient for the Holy Island and the Northumbian coast.

Had a lovely week staying at the Bothy,Nice and clean, good location,the owner was very welcoming.

What a wonderful cosy retreat the Bothy is; tucked away from life's general madness.

The cottage, a converted barn, is a perfect home from home. There was only one tiny issue: no wifi! Oh well, not the end of the world. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will certainly return. Northumberland lived up to its reputation of a place of outstanding natural beauty and completely blew us away!

Very spacious, clean, all the facilities you could want.

It was in a perfect location for those who want to escape to the country.

We had not been to Northumbria before so it was great to be close to many great attractions such as Lindisfarne, many castles, pretty towns, walks and National Trust properties. We did not have time to see everything so we will be back. The weather was hot and sunny beating all our expectations. Also the beaches were fab. The Bothy was comfortable and perfect for us.

The cottage was absolutely lovely.

The owner was really friendly, helpful and considerate. We could not have had s better time. So thank you Sykes and Thankyou "the Bothy"
