Description

Chatton 1.5 miles.

One of four beautiful, stone-built cottages in the charming hamlet of Chillingham, just a stone's throw from Chillingham Castle and wild cattle park.

This cottage, recently refurbished by its new owner is in a peaceful setting, with leafy roads and a babbling brook on the doorstep, and the imposing castle of Chillingham dominating the backdrop beyond.

This cottage would be just the spot for a small family or perhaps as a cosy retreat for couples wanting a peaceful break.

This lovely cottage has two good-sized bedrooms, a ground floor bathroom, kitchen, and a comfortable sitting room and separate dining room, both with woodburning stoves for those frosty nights.

As a listed building, it has been sympathetically modified yet retains some original features such as a stripped wooden floor in the master bedroom.

It is furnished with a blend of antique and good quality modern furniture in keeping with its historic status.

To the front there is a shared garden area with furniture, and to the rear is a further garden; the ideal spot to relax at the end of a long day exploring.

This holiday home is surrounded by numerous forest walks and cycle tracks, the Heritage Coast is just ten miles to the east with its sandy beaches and many castles, including Holy Island, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Alnwick and Warkworth, plus Alnwick Gardens is a very popular attraction, and well worth a visit.

Just ten miles west, the imposing Cheviot Hills can be clearly seen in the distance, a must for avid walkers and cyclists.

This pretty cottage is a perfect base for exploring Northumberland and all it has to offer.

Gamekeepers Cottage is in a quiet village that is ideal for exploring the beautiful coast and countryside.

Sadly, the cottage is disappointing and does not give a welcoming or cosy feeling. There is a consistently large number of flies downstairs, especially in the kitchen, dining room and bathroom, which is not pleasant when preparing, cooking and eating meals. The decor is dull and drab, adding to the unclean feeling of the property. Gamekeepers Cottage could be a lovely holiday cottage if it received some TLC, updated decor and a deep clean. On a positive note Margaret and Ken (next door) are lovely and helpful.

The cottage was as expected, very quaint as you would expect from an old stone property.

We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Margaret and Ken at no.11 were so lovely and friendly and helpful.

Gamekeepers cottage was as stated a quaint cottage with a newly installed shower room.

Kitchen well equipped and plants of logs for the log burner. Caretakers on hand to solve any queries. We had no issues. Something to note was as stated there was a washing machine but tricky to dry washing outside if the weather was rainy ( we used the bathroom towel rail to dry ours) The cottage was well positioned for lots of attractions.
