Flodden

This is the our second time in staying here & we were just as happy & content as last year.

We appreciated the wine & biscuits plus biscuits for our dog. A plus for us was the comfortable bed & large shower room. Unfortunately my husband pulled his back whilst away & Darren (the owner) was really helpful & didn't hesitate to offer to help to us & gave us some pain killers & asked if we needed anything to let him know. As I don't drive I discovered that there were buses to Berwick & Wooler which could be caught very close by & there were pleasant walks to be had nearby. It is an ideal spot to stay to explore north Northumberland & the Scottish Borders. We travelled to North Berwick which is 20-25 miles from Edinburgh & it took us about a hour to get there. It was joy to explore the area by car as traffic levels were really low & there were good views of the countryside. I partially enjoyed seeing the view of the Cheviots when returning. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend & we are looking forward to returning in the future.

A real gem!

Clean, well equipped, quiet, and warm. After a long journey it was lovely to be welcomed by the host to show me how everything worked. I would have no hesitation to stay here again.

09. - 12.09. 2025,The accommodation was great, Darren was there to greet us at the coach house in Crookham, there was a bottle of wine, The room was clean and tidy the bed was great, The area was great a pub 300 yards away loads of castles and Scotland was a 10 minutes away, Bamburgh, Holy Island, Ford and Etal, Wooler and Kelso, Coldstream and Jedburgh in Scotland just across the bridge in Cornhill on Tweed, Northumberland is a great place to see, We would go back here again

A nice host, it was clean, when we arrived in our cottage their were flowers, Biscuits en eggs from his chickens. We had a wonderful stay and we will make good recommendations to all our friends and family.

Hosts were very pleasant & friendly.

The accommodation was in a nice location with lovely walks in the countryside near by & not too far to drive to the coast - best of both worlds. It was very clean, well decorated, comfortable & had everything we needed. There was a small paddock to the rear plus a shared garden to sit in. It is ideally situated to explore north Northumberland & the Scottish Borders & even Edinburgh if you wanted to. We were sorry to leave & will definitely return in the future for more walking & exploring.

My second stay at Flodden.

It's an ideal place to stay and explore Northumberland and the Scottish borders. The studio is cosy and has great facilities It was ideal to be able to exercise the dogs in the field at the rear of the property Many thanks Darren for the warm welcome and the welcome gifts

This cottage was lovely for a family holiday to explore Lymington, the New Forest, Beaulieu, and the Isle of Wight.

For us, parking was easy every time required - outside the front door, which was framed by pretty roses. We got the parking permit arranged once we phoned the cottage owner, who picked up first time and registered our car details online at their end. This cottage was a real 'cottage' size, yet cosy, well- renovated, equipped and furnished with a nice 'sea/blue' interior theme. The stairs were steep, so we found that using the handrail was necessary. We found the mattresses were quite comfortable, and discovered the lounge sofa also proved to be a good sofabed. The area was very quiet at night. So, on our stay, we slept well. One evening, we relaxed and dined in the small sun-trap back garden surrounded by fragrant honeysuckle and tall evergreen hedges. In Lymington, we ate at the King's Head pub-restaurant. Their 'giant' fish & chips main dish was very, very good. A great stay.

A great place to explore Northumberland would definitely like to go again but for a bit longer stay Lovely studio apartment warm and cosy when the heating was on and there was an electric heater to use if necessary, also an electric towel rail Would have liked a bit more heating in the bathroom and instructions how to use the shower properly as it went from red hot to icey cold Well fitted out accommodation Owners had left a much appreciated gift of fresh eggs chocolate and cider when I arrived

My stay at Floodden Cottage was my first solo break since loosing my wife two years ago, so when setting off I had some trepidation.

However, I couldn’t have chosen better. The cottage is situated on the Northumberland/Scottish border making it a perfect base to explore the local historic sites and some of our nation’s most beautiful countryside. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and well equipped for self catering (including a dishwasher). On arrival I was welcomed with a bottle of wine a some yummy treats for both myself and my two dogs. The coach house complex is surrounded by free range chickens, sheep and rolling field making is quiet and peaceful. There are two local pubs one about 250 metres down the road, the second (The Black Bull) around 4 km away in the quaint village of Etal; both of which are dog friendly and serve reasonably priced food. My only criticism is that it was virtually impossible to regulate the water temperature of the shower; notwithstanding, I would definitely recommend this cottage and would not hesitate staying here again. It was exceptional value for money. However, next time I’ll make sure I take my telescope to make the most of the dark sky overhead.

Delivered exactly what it promised.

Welcome pack very much appreciated. Spotlessly clean. Nicely furnished and remarkably no extra charge for our dog. Made a few suggestions for minor additions which were appreciated by the owner. Would definitely recommend. Great location , beautiful area, lots of walks and a short stroll to the local pub. THANK YOU.

The studio cottage we rented for a week was absolutely ideal for what we wanted.

Very well equipped for self catering purposes and a very high spec.throughout. Location was peaceful and tranquil but with amenities nearby. The owners were very helpful if we needed anything. We would definately return to the cottage and have already recommended to friends and family.

Excellent location for exploring the area.

Good for dogs. Generous welcome gifts including lovely freshly-laid eggs. The property is easily accessible and well-equipped but the seating is not ideal for disabled or older people - seats are low with low back supports. Longer central heating time would be welcome during cool weather as the proerty did not fully warm up although a small room heater is provided. Online advert needs amending as it states there is a bath. (Shower is fine.)

Nice cottage apart from lack of heating.

Only had radiators which came on after we were up so freezing in morning and not on during day.

24/4-29/4/23- Flodden cottage was a smashing little studio cottage.

Facilities available were spot on and you can pull your car right up to the door to load and unload, parking in the ample car parking spaces just outside the courtyard. We had use of two Paddocks to walk the dogs for last and first wees .. they had sheep and chickens in but no problem as dogs were kept on leads. It was a perfect spot for seeing some of the border villages/castles/gardens and most places very dog friendly. We used our own bedding as we always do but everything was beautifully clean anyway. Comfy bed, big shower (took a bit of twiddling to get the temp right) a short walk to the pub, food was beautiful and vey dog friendly ( book though as they get busy) . All in all a fab week in a beautiful studio with lovely views all around, close to walks, short 10 min ride to Scotland. (Coldstream) . The only thing we bought extra was toilet roll as there was only half a roll , just an oversight I think. We would definitely recommend and be happy to return to explore more of the borders.
