The Granary
Description
Perched on the edge of Rothbury, Northumberland, is the charming cottage, The Granary, which rests on a traditional farm; a fantastic place to take young children to stay in a fun, animal environment.
Off-road parking greets you on arrival, climb out the car and take in the glorious surroundings of Addycombe Farm, where you will hear cockerels crowing and the noise of lambs inviting you to this rural abode.
Venture up the steps to the first-floor studio, positioned above stables to give you the complete rural experience, discover the entrance hallway, where you can kick off your muddy boots and house your belongings, the entrance hall also possesses a handy freezer for any items of food that you have brought along for the self-catering experience.
The home boasts an open-plan space, with beamed ceilings, Velux windows, and stone walls to mirror the countryside exterior of the dwelling, where you are encouraged to relax with the warm tones of the décor.
Stepping through the property, you will find an amply-equipped kitchen where you can prepare heart-warming meals for your family as they gather around the table and plan a diverting itinerary for the days ahead.
Unwind in the sitting area, as the glow of the fire gently lights up the room and allow yourself to relax on the sofa and escape reality with the TV, where you can snuggle up together and afterwards share a beautiful view of the vast hills from the Juliet balcony, which is also a great place for your morning coffee.
When sleep calls, travel through the open space to locate the enclosed bathroom and indulge in a leisurely soak before choosing from a sumptuous double bed or plush twin beds; make yourself a hot chocolate and snuggle into bed with a compelling book.
In the morning, travel down the steps and enjoy a cup of tea on the outdoor furniture, where you can immerse yourself in this rural way of life before taking the young ones to have a closer look at some wonderful animals.
Take a short stroll to the nearby Italian restaurant for some fine dining or visit The Queens Head for a traditional British cuisine.
Your necessities can also be picked up from the local convenience store so get to know your surroundings and explore what the village has to offer.
Rothbury is near thrilling attractions, including Northumberland Country Zoo to see even more wildlife and the rural mansion of Cragside to unveil some local history.
Rothbury also offers the spectacular Simonside Hills and has the River Coquet running through it so lace up your walking shoes and absorb the exquisite natural beauty.
Not far from Rothbury is the market town of Alnwick, which has something for the whole family, tour the medieval Alnwick castle, take a fascinating trip to Alnwick gardens to see the world's most poisonous plants or treat your family to a themed trail at the Wicked Wizard of Alnwick Treasure Trail.
For some quirky shops, head to the triangular circuit in Alnwick where the three main streets, Bondgate Within, Market Street and Fenkle Street offer some fabulous retail therapy, as well as independent cafes and bars.

We loved our stay at the Granary.
The owners were very friendly. Very quiet, well away from the main road with everything you need for a short visit.Bathroom is ready for a little TLC, tiles and grout. We only used the main bed but for a family of 4 the bed is very near the steps.Would be happy to return in the future.
The accommodation was as listed.
Alison was extremely friendly and welcoming, and prepared to spend time answering questions and chatting. It is an ideal base to explore the area.
We had a lovely time in The Granary.
It is a well appointed, comfortable and homely property, located on a small working farm. It is very quiet but only a short walk into Rothbury. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.
