Beautiful cottage fitted out to a high standard.

Elsdon is in the centre of Northumberland so all the sights are easily reached. But it was great to come back to the cottage to enjoy the peace and calm. We will definitely come back to Townfoot Cottage.

Spic & span, cosy, everything you need to hand plus unspoilt landscapes, peace, quiet and sweet bird song across the fields.

Definitely coming back.

Everything about this cottage is exactly what we are looking for and more.

The dark sky village but full of history, the facilities in the cottage is very well equipped. We brought pet with us, this cottage is very pet friendly and even got dog biscuits for our dog's arrival.

This is a perfectly situated, well maintained, well equipped cottage with an extremely nice host.

Ideal for long walks straight from the doorstep or to explore the Northumberland coast, Scottish borders and the numerous stately homes in the area. Our family had a fantastic time and Sarah was a lovely host. We will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend Townfoot Cottage and Elsdon! Thank you.

What a Beautiful cottage, very comfortable and has everything you need and more for your holiday.

Sarah the owner is lovely, greeted us on arrival and was very helpful and made us feel so welcome from the time we arrived until the day we left. Thank you also for the lovely bottle of wine and chocolates we received on arrival a welcome bonus. We had a wonderful time at Townfoot Cottage, so relaxing and did not want to leave, it is a little Gem in a lovely location with walks straight from the doorstep. We definitely will return. Warm, comfortable, well-equipped, quiet, perfectly located and beautifully decorated (that's the cottage!). A kindred spirit with similar interests and beliefs to me (that's Sarah!). Very much hope to be back.

Townfoot Cottage is a lovely property.

The cottage offers many facilities that make a good holiday, and is spacious and tastefully decorated. The host (Sarah) is exceptionally friendly: she provided wine and chocolate upon arrival, and gave suggestions for things to do. When Babet was unfortunately hitting the area, she made sure to pass on recommendations and websites to check, so we’d stay safe. We very much enjoyed staying in Townfoot Cottage and seeing so much of Northumberland’s heritage.

Sarah was very welcoming. I can't think of anything that l missed or needed. There was lots of information in the cottage about the local area and beyond that was really useful. Everything was clean and well kept. A great find.

Such a lovely holiday home where you can relax on a huge sofa in front of the log burning stove while chatting to whoever is preparing food in the kitchen.

The cottage is well proportioned with plenty of storage space and a secure back garden where our dog was free to totter. We would love to visit again in the summer and experience the garden and surrounding area in full bloom. Whatever the weather, this is a fabulous wee place just to get away from it all and Linda could not have been more welcoming - we arrived to chocolates, wine and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree - it was perfect!

After a very long drive, the cottage was a welcome sight.

The owner was there to meet us and demonstrate the quirky light switches. The wine and chocolates were a nice touch plus tea, milk and coffee available. Very comfortable sofas to sink into whilst discussing the days activities and planning the next. Local pub was a good location close to the cottage however due to staff shortage not always able to provide food, however when it did it was good. Back to the cottage review, you had everything available to make the stay like being at home, effort had been taken by owner to make it a stress free holiday. Very quiet location however the locals very friendly and would offer info about the area. The cottage could not be faulted we would like to thank the host for the effort taken to ensure all went well.

A lovely, well equipped, comfortable and very clean cottage on the edge of the historic village with beautiful countryside all around.

Very dog friendly - enclosed rear garden and walks from the door. Good place to visit attractions in the National Park - like Kielder and nearby NT Wallington estate - and the coast. Thank you Sarah for being so welcoming and helpful .

High quality very comfortable accommodation.

Lovely location on the edge of a small village, with a nearby village pub which also serves food. A very quiet and peaceful location. Easy off road parking for cars and an enclosed back garden which enabled our two dogs to wander out there safely and unsupervised. Well placed for driving out to visit lots of Northumberland’s many attractive rural locations such as Kielder Water and National Trust properties.

Townfoot cottage is a delightful and welcoming little cottage .

We travelled as a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children). The cottage provided everything we needed and the rooms were comfortable and the triple room for the children was a real bonus. Sarah was there to welcome us on arrival and a little welcome gift of chocolates and wine was really thoughtful. The cottage was well maintained and very clean on arrival and was the perfect base to explore the coastline of Northumberland and also the beauty of the surrounding national park, Keilder forest and waterfall walks. We would highly recommend this cottage and hope to return in the future

The cottage was clean and well equipped. The gift of wine and chocs upon arrival was a lovely touch. We explored the area and it is truly beautiful.

It was very peaceful and quiet and the cottage felt like being at home. It was very comfortable and it was lovely to arrive to find chocolates and a bottle of wine on the dining table. The cottage has every facility you would require, it is very clean and the village very picturesque, we didn't get the chance to try the pub because of Covid regulations but it is only a 5 min walk from the cottage. There is a nice sit out cafe called the Impromptu cafe which serves a nice cup of tea and snacks. The area is absolutely stunning and is great for walking and cycling. Sarah the owner was waiting to greet us and she couldn't do enough to make sure we settled in well. Thank you Sarah, we will DEFINITELY be back to Townfoot Cottage

We were made to feel very welcome with chocolates and wine and a safe hello from Sarah.

The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and the location was ideal for trips to the east coast or just lazing around with walks in the fields with Scamp. We hope to return.

We had a fabulous week at Townfoot Cottage, properly dog friendly with a secure back garden, lovely walks on the doorstep and doggy treats were part of the afternoon tea waiting for us on arrival.

Sarah the owner had really thought of everything to make the place a home from home and we cannot thank her enough for the wonderful stay we had.

Fantastic cottage in a gorgeous village with a lovely, friendly owner.

Chocolates, wine and even biscuits for the dogs on arrival. Back garden is small but totally enclosed for the dogs’ safety and extremely private - plus lots of birds if you keep bird feeders filled up! We have been booking holiday cottages in the UK twice a year for 20+ years. We both think this is in our top 3 anywhere in country. We often say it would be nice to return but then usually try somewhere else. This is less than 3 hours easy drive from home so really do hope to make more trips here in the future. Will be a great “home from home” for a 2 or 3 night stay to recharge the batteries! Thank you so much Sarah - we WILL be back!

The owner had gone to great lengths to make us feel welcome, wine, scones, chocolates.

The cottage was warm and cosy, the garden escape-proof (for our dog). The area was beautiful with good dog walks on the doorstep. All in all a lovely week.

Well what a fantastic cottage in a lovely rural village like Elsdon and what a lovely person (Sarah) who owned the property and lived next door not only did she greet us on arrival but when we went inside she had left us a bottle of wine,a bag or Choi’s and also made us some homemade Scones with jam and Clotted cream which we have not had before and we’re the best Scones ever (thank you Sarah).

If you get chance check out the local pub 2 mins walk with a micro brewery out the back of the pub(very good beer) and the Landlord is a great and friendly bloke so will definitely be going back.

This was our 2nd stay at Townfoot Cottage and equally as enjoyable as the first visit in 2008.

The property is ideally situated for visiting Northumberland and The Scottish Border area and the wonderful surrounding countryside. The property is clean, comfortable and we received a warm welcome from the owner Sarah, along with homemade scones, wine and chocolates, which was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. We would highly recommend this cottage and the friendly village of Elsdon.

The cottage was beautifully clean and the village very friendly. The area is absolutely stunning and sadly apart from the weather changing, it was a really enjoyable break.

The table was laid ready for use to sit down and have a cuppa with a scone and jam, there was a bottle of wine and chocolates. Sarah showed us where everything was. A much appreciated guide, the area was stunning. We could not of wished for a better place to stay

A delightful and beautiful house.

We very much enjoyed staying there. The owner was perfect - friendly and available if needed but never intrusive. The village is very quiet with one pub (with a restaurant) open just three days a week. But this didn't matter. The house is very well situated for day trips and walks. Hardian's wall and Vindolanda are near by and the drive there on the switchback roman roads was part of the experience. Nearby is Rothbury with a nature reserve on the way where we walked beside the lake to see the birds - and particularly hear the calls, and even feel the down draft from wings as they flew overhead. Further afield was Alnwick with a truly magnificent contemporary garden. We also went to Lindisfarne and down the coast to Alnmouth and Amble (a beautiful and wild coastline). All in all - highly recommended.

We have visited this property on many occasions and always found it to be 10/10, with a very warm welcome from the owner who could not be more helpful.
