    “Cottage was lovely, very clean and spacious.”

    If following a sat nav you may end up in farm yard, as we did, so when you turn into the road opposite the Blackcock pub, follow road over cattle grid and then turn right, you can see the cottage at the end of that road. The village shop is now closed but The co op in Bellingham is not too far. The Blackcock Pub is lovely, it opens Thursday-Sunday, the staff are really friendly and helpful and the food is very good. Across from pub are the village tea rooms. Very nice cake! All in all a lovely ...

Across from pub are the village tea rooms. Very nice cake! All in all a lovely relaxing holiday in a lovely cottage. One point to note. Reading the guest book it's a bit hit and miss if there is a welcome pack when you arrive, some had it, some didn't. We didn't but it wasn't a problem for us. The path at the end of the garden that leads to the pub one way or Kielder Water the other way is quite steep and there is a tree across the path that you need to duck under. We will definitely be coming back to Falstone.

This attractive, detached cottage is situated in the pretty Northumberland village of Falstone, just a stone's throw away from Kielder Water & Forest Park.

Beautifully appointed throughout and providing light and airy accommodation, this Falstone cottage is ideal for families and friends looking for a relaxing retreat where they can enjoy time together and explore the countryside.

The front of this Northumberland cottage boasts stunning views of the surrounding forest and the North Tyne River after it exits Kielder Water.

With lovely furnishings, this Falstone cottage provides three bedrooms and a beautifully fitted, modern kitchen, a great place to prepare home-cooked food before everyone gathers together in the dining room.

The welcoming sitting room has a comfy leather sofa and chair, perfect to relax in after a day out walking or cycling.

The gardens to the side of this Falstone cottage meander up past the stream and directly to a woodland cycle path, which leads into the Kielder Forest, Kielder dam and the Lakeland Way cycle route, all just a five minute ride away, plus only 150 yards from this holiday home is the North Tyne River, where fishing can be enjoyed (permit required).

Bellingham 9 miles; Newcastleton 24.5 miles; Carlisle 49 miles.

The delightful village of Falstone lies at the foot of Kielder Water, the largest man-made lake in Northern Europe, and on the edge of Kielder Forest, the largest forest in Northern Europe. With probably the best ‘dark skies’ in England, and one of the most tranquil places in rural England, the area is ideal for outdoor activities. There are many signed walking paths through the forest, with the 26 mile Lakeside Way around the lake, as well as higher level fell walks. There are cycle tracks with different routes to suit a variety of abilities, plus fishing and an abundance of wildlife in the area, with red squirrel, roe deer and many bird species, including the Osprey. Hadrian's Wall is an easy drive away and there are many castles and fortified houses in the area, reminders from the times when the “Border Reivers” raided the Anglo-Scottish border. National Trust properties, including Wallington Hall and Cragside are also just a scenic drive away from this pretty village.
