Lovely big back garden. Beware if pet allergies as pets allowed to stay. Lovely night sky views. Good travel from location. Very rural.

Cosy comfortable cottage very peaceful (the dogs loved the garden) and an excellent location for exploring the borders and Northumberland.

Would definitely stay there again.

The kitchen/diner, bathroom, bedroom, and lounge were all fine.

The TV and Wi-fi were easy to use. The settees were a bit low and the stair carpet has seen better days. A lovely spot to stay being very peaceful. Paul and Margaret.

The cottage is in a beautiful location and is very attractive from outside.

However inside is dated,shabby and in need of updating.It was not expensive but the sofa is past its best,the mattress and pillows are rock hard.The bathroom was lovely.The stair carpet was thread bare,caught my heel on the gripper.The garden was lovely and the dogs really enjoyed it.Its such a shame more care hasn’t been put in as it’s got so much more potential.

The neighbours were very welcoming and helpful and were on hand if needed without being intrusive. The cottage was cosy and warm and had everything we needed and our two dogs loved the spacious garden. This is a special cottage in a beautiful area great for local walks or for easily driving further afield to other attractions. We would love to return one day.

Lovely little cottage, bedrooms nice and lovely big bathroom.

We lit the fire in the lounge in the evening as was so cosy, we were there in March so pretty chilly. The central heating was very good so got a bit to warm with the fire alight but we loved it and there was loads of coal and wood to use. Kitchen had all we needed and back door to walled yard which was handy for the dogs, this then had door to the garden which the dogs loved racing around. The only negative was the carpet could do with being replaced on the stairs and in the lounge as quite worn other than that everything else great

We have stayed twice at Briar Cottage.

Its very clean and every you need is there.The open fire was great to use.Our dogs loved the secure garden to have a run around in.Its very peaceful there and not far from tourists attractions.Plus the neighbours are great.Will return again one day.

Briar Cottage is tired and worn in places but this is reflected in the price.

The microwave in the kitchen should be replaced as it is rusty and this is unsafe. The open fire is lovely with a plentiful supply of logs. The sofas in the lounge were a bit too low for my creaking bones. The cottage was very clean.

Briar Cottage is a little “tired” in places but if anything this adds to the very homely feeling, it’s a really cosy, characterful place in a beautiful location.

Sharing with four adults you notice there’s only one loo, but the beds are comfortable, the bedrooms warm and the lounge is great with the open fire. It’s a shame the garden isn’t quite secure for the dogs but the courtyard is a nice addition. We had a great week and were very happy.

Excellent place for peace and quiet in a beautiful location.

We loved the cottage and would have considered moving in if it was an option! The open fire was fantastIc. Lovely, friendly couple lived next door. Our Chocolate Labrador loved it too particularly the enclosed garden.

Briar Cottage is a little hidden gem.

It had everything we needed and more. It was perfectly located for us to explore Northumberland and Edinburgh. We met the owners when we arrived and they kindly showed everything around. We would definitely stay here again

3 generations staying in Briar Cottage for a wonderful week away.

We loved it! Perfectly situated to reach out to interesting places in England and Scotland. Flodden Field just a couple of miles away. Day trip to Edinburgh. Bamburgh and Holy Island. Alnwick. Day in Cragside (unbelievable!) Floors Castle (amazing!) At the end of the day, the return to Briar Cottage was a joy. It's warm, comfortable, well equipped, beautiful views, dogs LOVED the garden. The cottage just wrapped arms round us like a bear hug! Thank You.

Lovely cottage and well placed for exploring the Scottish borders, cottage needs a better couch, better knives and forks, the garden is ideal for big dogs not little ones as they get through gaps in fence,

Lovely cottage, great to explore Scottish Borders and Northumberland.

It is very peaceful and quiet in the area. Great for a relaxing holiday. Dogs loved sitting in the long grass that was left at the border of the garden. Will probably return sometime.

This is an absolutely super holiday home.

We’ve stayed several times and will be staying here again. Lovely garden and very friendly neighbours who accept and understand holiday guests and our two dogs. A super base for travelling coastward and into the Scottish Borders - lots of exploring and walking. Great coffee and cake at Cafe Maelmin at Millfield too. Highly recommend Briar Cottage.

Brair cottage is a beautiful old station workers cottage in a block if 4 next to the old Mindrum station and station warehouse.

It is surrounded by beautiful scenery ideal for walking from easy walks to more strenuous walks.All the neighbours are really friendly and helpful giving suggestions of places to visit.The cottage has an old fashion feel with modern style,it is very spacious all round.it is also pet friendly with a secure yard and a beautiful secure garden,brilliant for star gazing as there is very little light pollution.I would have no issues recommending this to people and also hope to return myself soon.

So cosy and comfortable and excellent for our three dogs (large enclosed garden). The area is beautiful and there are lots of things to do. We had an amazing holiday.

Briar Cottage is a lovely homely place.

Everything you need for a little self catering break. The owners have left lots of information for any possible outings and also for the use of the cottage. Ideal place for dogs as the outdoor area is secure for them to wander. The cottage was clean and well equipped. Hope to return.

Great place to stay for a break.

A wonderful garden that was fully secured for the dog to have fun in. Friendly neighbours and a great location for walks.

The property could use a DVD player, especially during the long winter nights.

It's probably not great for the elderly as the stairs are very steep. Mattress was a bit soft for our liking. Great garden for the dogs, very helpful neighbours

We really enjoyed our stay in this quiet location.

It is very dog friendly and has great outdoor spaces. We loved the open fire. It is as comfortable as expected but we did feel some of the knives need to be replaced as they were blunt. Some of the downstairs carpets are also coming to the end of their life. Saying all of that we would stay again and will look forward to it.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable.

Garden was very secure for Our Dogs. A welcome pack would have been nice instead of a small jug of milk as we traveled 8 hours. The garden hose was faulty so was hard to wash the back yard. Angela the Neighbour was very nice and even took the rubbish bin out on collection day. We enjoyed our stay Thank you

A lovely cottage with beautiful surroundings and a fantastic base to explore Northumberland.

The cottage has a lovely big garden for dogs, the little courtyard was a bonus.

Very isolated but peaceful.

Excellent directions to find the cottage and where the keys were located Torch definitely needed outside as it was pitch black at night. Lovely garden. Lots of useful information that the owner provided in files. Plentiful supply of logs for the fire if needed. The cottage was very cosy. The only downside was on entering because the carpet up the stairs was threadbare. Some curtains required re hanging. Only minor issues and didn’t detract from our stay, although we did wonder what the rest of the cottage would be like on seeing the very shabby carpet on entry.

A beautiful and cozy Victorian cottage.

A quiet location overlooking fields, not too far away from shops, pubs, takeaways and anything you may need. Ideally situated for visiting the coast or to the city of Edinburgh. All the information about the cottage regarding heating, TV, local information, walks etc were easily to hand. A great selection of books were available to read. A THOUGHLY RELAXING HOLIDAY

We spent a week here in June with our dog and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was warm, spacious, quiet and comfortable with an actual enclosed garden for our dog !!!!. Often gardens say they are enclosed but they are not dog proof, this one was. Two negatives, the duvet was a bit lumpy and a dvd player would have been useful as we don't have access to Netflix etc

Exactly as we hoped for.

Clean & tidy. Small touches which made the difference - jug of milk left in the fridge, toilet roll in the bathroom, washing up liquid in the kitchen, games, books & tv - an excellent home from home. Fenced garden for the dogs. The owners seemed to have thought things through. Anyone, with dogs, looking to holiday in the area, I could (& have already done so) recommend the property.

My wife and I are elderly and the settees were a bit low down and difficult to get up from.

The cottage is in a nice peaceful setting and ideal for a restful holiday. The neighbours were very nice. Our dog loved the garden.

Beautiful holiday cottage - we and our dogs again loved staying here.

Unfortunately some of the conifer trees had been removed by tree surgeons - it would be great if new conifers could be planted - to aid screening from the large property behind the cottage (s). We will return hopefully later in the year once more. Thank you for a great stay.

Cosy cottage, great open fire with plenty of coal and wood.

Cafetière needed in kitchen Mirror would be useful in twin room Bedside light in twin room needs to be able to be turned on/off with switch on light, as inconvenient to operate it from socket. Desk too large and not suitable for storing clothes. Chest of drawers would be better, and would free up space around double bed so a bedside table could be provided on both sides.

A bit rough around the edges the double bed uncomfortable could do with a new mattress the red carpet a bit worn and constantly need to vacuum it the towels well warn could do with new towels the area is very nice easy to get to everywhere lovely walks dog friendly

Lovely little cottage.

There were 3 people and two dogs. An ideal cottage for travelling around the Scottish Borders. Lots of wild life to see, deer, hares, pheasants in the fields opposite. Highly recommend.

Another relaxing stay at Briar Cottage.

The cottage has all the basics needed and the newly installed larger TV allowed us to sign into netflix, etc. The cosiness of the property meant we were well-insulated against the recent storms and were able to get out and about to enjoy local walks and food in the lulls between the wind and rain. Great watching the hares in the field and enjoyed a moonlight walk to take in the stars. Thanks again.

It was a very cosy place with a great back garden. It was an added bonus having free supply of coal and logs, very welcome. The only negative thing about this cottage is the television was far too small, like a portable size. We literally couldn’t see the picture and unfortunately with it not being a smart tv, there was no accessibility to catch up tv or iplayer etc. I think if this was rectified, I’d thoroughly recommend Briars cottage.

The cottage was ok, would benefit from a larger TV.

Furniture needs updating an old desk in the bedroom not perfect for storing clothes. Couldn’t let the little dogs in the garden they could get out through the gaps in the fence.

It would have been helpful to have had idiot proof clear instruction on the heating operation of the boiler.

We only wanted the bathroom rad on but all came on.

Very enjoyable experience.

Sat navigation a bit Ifield to go away from the property. But would recommend to anyone.

We've stayed af Briar cottage multiple times and it's always been perfect in every way,only thing I would suggest is a couple of chopping boards and a few extra cooking utensils ,we will definitely be booking again .

A return visit, lovely cottage and enjoy the isolation and views.

Briar Cottage was very comfortable,warm and situated in a very quiet area with many sights within easy reach.

Excellent village shop a few miles away at Cornhill on Tweed and a good range of shops at Wooler. I saw roe deer and many hares in the field immediately in front of the cottage and several types of birds also.

This is the best dog friendly cottage I have ever stayed at,the courtyard and garden were fantastic.

The house was warm and cosy with a big supply of logs and coal which you don't often get.Would definitely recommend.

Briar Cottage was lovely.

It was very well equipped and although we visited in the summer I was very impressed that it has oil central heating and an open fire. I am tempted to come back again in the winter as I imagine it would be really warm and cosy.
